Leandros should return as a grizzled Lieutenant who appears to rescue Titus from the nid menace at the climax of the game using unorthodox battle strategies.
Give him a bionic arm, leg, and half of his face to show how much he understands that the realities of war force a soldier to learn the value of improvisation.

Physical addiction isn't all that strong. To kick a bad heroin addiction physically just takes a week or two of being sick. It's the psychological addiction that's the problem, and that stems from either being an idiot or having an unfulfilling life, not from the drugs themselves. Morphine is basically heroin, and people who go to the hospital don't all come back junkies.

Alchol and hard drug withdrawal can actually kill you, though, and even the worst of it lasts way the frick longer than just two weeks.
You're not just "sick," your entire body can shut down because of the dependency. Benzo withdrawal in particular can cause seizures and cardiac events.

You have to do it for a very long time and there's medication to stop you from dying. And no, most don't take that long. Sure, some outliers are worse, but in general it's not that hard to physically kick most common drugs, especially when you don't wallow in the addiction for a couple years.

Yeah I dunno I always felt like ammunition would always be a huge problem for space marines. Boltguns carry, what, 30 rounds in a magazine? You rarely see any ammo pouches on the marines. And yet they're constantly sent into prolonged engagements against overwhelming numbers.

      Anonymous

How do those magazines even fit as many rounds as they do the bolts are massive, for the most part i don't think it's that big an issue but if they're ever planning to do live action it's gonna end up looking pretty silly

        Anonymous

I think that Darktide gives them like 15 bullets a mag, sure it's a downsized version of the real thing, but i think that 15 bullets sounds reasonable enough

      Anonymous

It's inconsistent. The model sprues come with pouches for magazines but the models themselves are so poorly sculpted that it's difficult to actually put them anywhere that makes sense and most people just omit them entirely. In the narrative every space marine chapter has several thousand human serfs that do all of the boring shit like logistics and maintenance and ammunition supply that is also never addressed outside of books.

      Anonymous

Its just a suspension of disbelief thing, realistically SMarines would either be using pouches or be covered in magazines sticking to their armor with magnets, most dont have either because it's just supposed to give the impression of a space knight/spartan, though they are slowly changing it with the tacticool look Primaris Marines get

They’re described as ranging from .75 to .998 cal, .75 cal is around a 20mm round, which humans already work with. A gun that size could hold a lot, and so could a superhuman sized pouch of ammo. When you take it in the context that Ultramarines are basically nerds it makes sense.

Titus is a captain, and therefore probably knows through experience that the space marine codex is flawed, and should not be followed at all times.

Leandros however is a fricking jannie, and calls the principle on Titus because he's not following the rules.

      Anonymous

      >flawed
Is not flawed, it's just static, combat is constantly evolving and Titus just knows that you have to be more flexible. Where Leandros things it's a recipe book to be followed exactly. Even Girlyman points out that it's not a dogma, it's a guide, he just tried to make it as comprehensive as possible.

        Anonymous

        >Is not flawed, it's just static

So you agree that making a book full of rules, and then having chapters expelled for breaking said rules, even in times that they need to (lamenters, Astral Claws, Soul Drinkers etc etc) is flawed.

If Gulliman never had the foresight to implement times one could break the codex within the damn book, it's flawed.

You can argue the high lords and others misinterpret it, but when girlyman forgets to implement failsafes, it's flawed.

The Astral Claws and Lamenters were expelled for direct rebellion against the Imperium. The Soul Drinkers were expelled for starting a war with the AdMech.

It offers so many interesting scenarios, fighting on the side of Chaos one moment and on the side of the Imperium the next, all in the aervice of a plan so complocated that nobody in your chapter/warband actually remembers how it started or what the goal was

They're supposed to be Hawaiian themed I think. They're from the time when every marine chapter was getting assigned an ethnicity. (Dark Angels were native american for instance.)

Literally any defense-focused Fists successor (ie, not morons like Black Templars) in a level-based series of defensive engagements across a planet. You drop in, you've got a certain amount of time and resources to set up defenses with walls, dudes, mines, servitor turrets, etc. You'll get hit by waves of enemies and every X number of waves you get a shipment of new supplies in via airdrop to set up new defenses and repair existing ones. I think Orks would provide the most variety since as the levels go on, you could just keep escalating from normal boyz, to big orks with big powered armor all the way to a Gargant boss fight. You'd have a lot of variety as long as you keep the game small in scope, probably 10 levels max.

That floating idea of a WW1 game where upon death you switch to an entirely different character and keep going would be perfect for a Lamenters game. You start with X amount of battle brothers available and have to make it through the most ridiculously lethal situations to complete each level. If you survive using only one battle brother he ranks up but if he dies you're back at square one. The highest difficulty starts you off as a scout

the entire point of the Ultramarines is that they are genetically autistic about the codex. their dad wrote the thing, it's literally in their DNA

it's literally the only "downside" of being an Ultramarine. you're the coolest and do everything right and your dad is alive and you're the most loyal and cool to the citizens and blah blah blah, but you're also a rules lawyer about some dumb book

but oooohhh noooo can't have ultrasmurf with a character flaw!! so let's give our hulking chad the "heh... always thought those more of a guideline, books are for nerds...." personality trait, and paint the actual Ultramarine as a poindexter

also he's able to resist the chaos without issue, no explanation. just because

and he gets a weird sorta love interest, though a lot of games of that era fell for that hacky plot beat

pretty much because that is the way the ultramarines are, the codex astartes is pretty much a religious book to them in all but name, any one of their successor chapters that breaks from it is heavily shunned by the Ultarmarines, even when their own break from the codex to win a battle they still punish the guy since to them it doesn't matter if he won he was still a rule break which to them could be the start of heresy

          Anonymous

A Deathmark has 5 toughness, 3+ save and 1 wound.
Going with Death Korps of Krieg guardsmen with "close combat weapon", meaning mostly fists and knifes, it's totally believable they'd be able to bring it down with their numbers.
In the show, the Deathmark is attacked by around 20 guardsmen, those hit on a 4+ with 1 attack each, so on average 10 attacks hit. Strength 3 against toughness 5 means wounding on 5+, so 3,33 successful wounds. The Deathmark has a 3+ save, so it can still avoid most damage, but still averages 1,11 wound received. That's enough to kill it.

I was honestly surprised how well the Deathmark would hold up in melee against weak attacks, I'd expected it to take a lot less guardsmen to kill it.

you're pretty spot on but the first thing that happens in that engagement is the guardsman literally just grabs the deathmark's arm with one hand and that somehow holds him from moving forward into his pocket dimension. i don't believe for a fricking second a regular ass human who has been freshly lobotomized can just hold a necron of any type in place with one hand

It's like a less pointy variant of the Mk4, which is also a good helmet, just on armor that looks like the Mk8. Understandably, Mk7's helm can also look a little inconsistent at times and was supposedly meant to represent a human skull.

      For me, it's beakies.

      >Mk4-6 are essentially Heresy-era armors
      >Mk2-3 was generally the armor the Loyalists mostly had by the Heresy
      >Mk4 was brand spanking new and Horus made sure to gear his side with more of it
      >Mk5 is supposed to be a desperate mishmash of Mk4-6 everyone used, so it derives from the Heresy in origin
      >Mk6 existed before the Heresy, but has a small retcon that gave virtually every legion the STC sometime in the conflict

The detail with 5 & 6 mildly bothers me. Were the marks established later in-universe?

I mean, it sort of implies the Mk6 just jumped a mark and then Mk5 filled the gap despite being partially derived from it. On the other hand, Primarines skipped over Mk9 completely.

When Horus fricked him up, he could have gone "Oopsy daisy, sorry mankind, I guess I fricked up, you better handle it while I recover, haha" and gone into hiding, but he didn't. He sat on the fricking throne and endured unspeakable agony to give mankind a fighting chance against impossible odds stacked against them. It's either that or all of humanity gets fricked to death instantly. Without astronomicon there is no hope. Zero. Every world in the imperium gets cut off instantly and has to fend for itself against the horrors of the cosmos. Although I'm sure a chaoshomosexual would argue that this is a good thing.

lorelet here, how "devout" are the Space Marines exactly? I always thought they were like warrior monks who do nothing but chant and pray when they aren't fighting, but apparently most of them don't even see the Emperor as a god like the rest of humanity does

      Anonymous

Depends on chapter to chapter. Some like Black Templars are religious zealots and other chapters not at all.

      Anonymous

Most see the Emperor as the pinnacle of mankind, revering him to the point it basically is worship.

Of the chapters that do worship him as a God, it's typically not 1:1 with Imperial Faith proper either. However the Ecclesiarchy usually isn't going to start shit over it.

      Anonymous

Think of them like buddhist monks where there's technically not a god. It also varies by chapter since they all have a theme like vikings and romans.

      Anonymous

Varies by chapter and at worst they'll occasionally butt heads with the militant branches of the Ecclesiarchy over it (such as the Sororitas).

true, the inquisition has no shortage of blam to dish out, but I like to believe that spase mreens are slightly more valuable than the average factorum worker, therefore he's worth putting extra effort to find the truth (because he takes longer to replace)
he's in a position of power which means even the slightest tinge of chaos is enough to royally frick things up
what can they really do? permanently attach an inquisitor to him to make sure he stays on the straight and narrow? (yes they will do exactly this)
stop complaining, all you have to do is be a loyal servant of the Emperor

Primaris Marines solely exist to make marinepiggies buy their entire armies all over again. Note how no other recent army had their units replaced wholesale, just updated like a sane company would do.

Titus is not a psychic null. No chapter would ever put a Blank through training as it would be a massive misuse of a powerful asset if they (very likely) died. If he WAS a Blank, it would not be a secret. The first psyker to be in the same room as Titus would shit their pants and out him, as would all the daemons in the game.

Why is everyone assuming a Space Marine can't handle fighting chaos? I know Grey Knights love the smell of their own farts but they're not the only chapter capable of tangling with the daemonic. I could see the Ultramarines getting uptight about it since they're nerds, but the Inquisition would just give Titus a good once-over to confirm he's not corrupted and be on their way.
