Are there any good spce fantasy systems? Like the "party" is a crew on a space ship, or exploring a planet on a scouting expedition.

No
The Mongoose recent release the new version of the Traveler Far Future role-playing system. Know Space is the tiny specialization when local cluster finding, and the a lot of techno-magical abundance.

Star Wars doesn't exist, anon.
I don't want star wars because of the baggage included
I remember reading Traveler years ago, I'll have to check the new release, but Know Space may end up being the better choice.

Genesys is the same game without baggage. I'm sure there's a generic space variant at this point.
The Twilight Imperium space opera splatbook is due to release sometime this year.
Edge of the Empire.
Stars Without Number.
Rogue Trader, but that might be bigger than what you're after.
yah its called traveller idiot. It kinda invented the whole party is a crew on a small ship firefly/bebop dynamic. there is like 10 billion pages of resources for it and like 6 different versions from moron approved basic editions to autism space vectoring hyperminutia crunch. its been there since since like 1979.
If Traveler has magic and swords, then it's perfect. I am not experienced with scifi rpgs, hence the thread. I know fantasy more than scifi, but I want to dip my toes in something different.
It does but they're not pervasive. Most people use tech and guns but swords are an option. One member of the sample crew I randomly rolled using the online tool was a sword master with an ancient sword, he was also the wealthy one that would have financed the ship. Definitely my favorite character. I don't think any of them were psionic though. Iirc you're more likely to die during character creation than you are to be a psionic.
you could go spelljammer then.
Traveller is more sci-fi than science fiction but it's really good and I'm enjoying my current campaign. It does have psionics so I guess it's slightly science fantasy but I don't tend to use the psionics much.
It depends on which edition and which rulings really. like cepheus light is very much science fiction.
if you're down for pulp scifi Buck Rogers XXVc
you can also try the Flash Gordon game for Savage Worlds
Noted, thanks anons!
That sounds cool as frick. Also the ability to die during chargen was one of the system's most endearing parts to me
I don't know how that sword master with the ancient sword would have fared in real combat, although ordinance is limited in on-ship combat or on planets with hostile atmospheres where damage to the hull is a serious problem no matter which side damages it.
Metabarons and especially Fading Suns.
