The only way to spot hidden balancing problems in the meta over time is with a large data set. Patches and balancing occur naturally as more data is fed back about what does and doesnt work within the system in production.
Hopefully they iron out the balance quickly so the game's difficulty reaches a good state. Right now I think supports and fighters need some love, tanks other than fun could use some too.

This questline is such bullshit, I've gotten to the greenlit room 4 times, and not once have I gotten the compass. Why did they have to make every single step of this be RNG?
8 times in a row now, there's no way it can be simple RNG unless it's like 10% success rate. There's got to be some kind of hidden requirement beyond just having the runestone.

No, that's the issue I'm having. I've gotten to the room where you're supposed to get the compass, the event room with the blank screen, at least 10 times now and every single time I insert the runestone and I've failed to get the compass every single time. It's really getting on my nerves.

Yeah, they added RNG to everything here. At least in the Treasure Chest you can at least find a shop. Here you won't know if your run's good until you get to Area 1 boss.

I actually got it two tries after posting. But I had cleared it more than 20 times and never saw it so I would say that is annoying. Encouraging resets and having to wait five minutes between just seems like poor design.
Got it on my first try from getting the Ear shit, did the four hunter thing for once, and it was the most profitable attempt thus far. Nice.
"Order Sleeper" is the best healer in the game, I'd throw every support we can actually get in the trash for one of them.

Comfy side game, nice OST, dailies take maybe 1hr or so, you get more than 100 pulls per month, unique waifus, they got a nipple past censor. The devs are still ironing things out with the game, but mostly its for the better with a couple dumb decisions along the way. They at least acknowledge complaints people are having, so I'm hopeful.
Nyanners, or whatever the frick her name is, has a bad habit of not summoning her cat as soon as it's available. It's really annoying some times.

Nah, Doranana on Auto tries to cast it as soon as possible. However, said "as soon as possible" is often after the first step in the battle so it's not the quickest. Like I said, it's much faster to just deploy Lulu yourself, but that's not really viable in PvP.

I don't recall any problems with summoning Lulu (there was a strange issue when you couldn't use the ultra skill from the get-go in Neutron Star, though, but it seems it has been fixed). But from my experience, there were two or three instances in campaign missions/resource surveys when it was more beneficial to wait until Doris pulls her target, and then to launch the fatso
When you have her Character Gear skill unlocked you can actually have Lulu out early then try to have one of the squishy backliners aim for Doranana. Lulu then zips past the frontline, teleports near the target and focuses on her. It's a good way to go for killing the backline.
In PvP where I can't manually use the skill I just put Doranana one tile beyond their range in hopes she gets Lulu to zip by after her first step. Not viable against Assassins though.
Finally got the mutation ending today. Got about 10 runs left to finish the shop, 9 with good rng. Decent event, wish the UI was better at the map screen.

Doesnt matter who, as long as they are nat3. Gotten pretty quick, I never change formation and just burn everything down.

Who is the best healing support? I'd prefer one that healed constantly over one who just heals with their activated ability.
Diye is basically all heals but she's killing herself while doing it until you phase her. Also she's one of the more annoying notable enemies so maybe in player hands she's just as good

doris' character gear skill is a passive teamwide heal when she takes damage

vitty in a corner, leonlev on top middle, someone else to bait the left middle, archers or mages in the other corners
if vitty lands her disorient, the boss can still do its ground-slamming fist attack, which ends up hurting itself so it dies super quickly, even above what your team could normally handle
if there's no one cardinally adjacent, it might not do that attack, and might kill your vitty first, so leonlev's character gear passive helps with that

It has some top alien waifus, like a sexy gremlin, tomboy lion, horny bat and rapey dolphin. Also, it's very generous. You'll get most rare characters (which are 3*, not 4*, like in most games) every 30-40 pulls. For me, it's very comfy.

If you have your event stat tree maxed out, you can grind combat very easily. Start with +2 summon coins, golan, X, and Peru, get dora and/or leo to block, and build nothing but dps. Golan + 7 dps is enough damage to set a normal formation and never need to change it, and win quickly every time. just mindlessly pick all the rooms on the same side.

They added a colossally overpowered passive that adds +400% damage to single target attacks in Leaper Odyssey. Curiously, I haven't seen any of the combo passives in the new LO missions.
I went through with massive damage increases and I 3-shot Funs. The only enemy leaper that lasted any amount of time was Leonlev due to her passive, everything else got 1-shot.

>30% increased attack and crit chance for leapers that start in the left 2 columns
>400% increased single target damage
>48% increased basic attack damage
and 5 seconds of disorient on enemies at the start just to make sure they can't do anything.
None of my leapers died once the entire run.

My 5* vitty is same level as rest of team (around 100) with a level 17 weapon (same as most, and similar gear at level 25). She is consistently bottom tier damage.
Usually i have 5 mages, this one i ran double tanks but in any normal fight she is still near the bottom. People rave about vitty and I am missing something?
Or is it summer vitty that is the good one? Inonly have her at 4*
The data in the result is not reliable in this case, because it doesn't account for the sheer destruction her ult causes. She allows your team to stay alive, while enemies basically eat each other.
I dont use Vitty for her own damage, which is pretty mediocre. I use her her her ult which has hard carried me multiple times in fights I shouldnt have won. I let my Perus, Leo, Dora, and Fai take care of the raw damage dealing. And since Vitty's phase and unique gear both stack her ult's power, she gets so much better the more you invest.
here's a vid of both vittys helping me clear content 200k above my power, and you can see how quickly my team would have died without her
i often intentionally put normal vitty near the frontline so enemies' attacks build her ultra gauge faster, she gets out the disorient asap, and then more often than not she can get off a second one shortly after the first wears off (she gets off two in the video, sd vitty's passive disorient did not proc at all)

If Leonlev gets disoriented while casting EX Scorching Thruster, it will still go off but it won't do any damage.
But it gets better.
If Leonlev reaches 3 charges while disoriented, she will use her ultra ON YOUR OWN TEAM.
The number of times I have been winning a pvp fight only for the enemy Vitty to apply disorient on my Leonlev right before she reaches 3 charges, just for her to turn around and 1-shot half my team is ridiculous.

I think they adjusted Neutron Star's difficulty a bit. Can't put it quantitatively but the encounters feel much easier now.
Yeah, the stats of enemies have been substantially nerfed. Not particularly sure what they did, but the AI leapers no longer have the stats that would be appropriate for their super scaled levels. I still find the let you do it every day, but for half the rewards thing they did completely pointless. It's annoying doing it every day.

If you don't have any perspectives of getting Red gear in the following weeks (e.g. you can't beat 8th Hunter Gear Array and you have 3 or more Archers) then I say - go for it. By the time you collect all the Red pieces, you'll probably be able to afford upgrading them without much trouble.
I've gotten a lot of mileage out of some of my +40 orange gear, especially if you run a lot of a specfic class and need loads of gear of that type.
What's the quantitative difference between max level Red and Gold gear? Not including the bonuses from lvl 15 and 25.
I'm sitting on 112M coins and I'm not too worried about spending 6M on Yellow, but I am struggling to get Red gear from arrays. Wish events would give you red gear boxes.
it costs 20mil to level a gear from 40 to 50 alone, 112mil will disappear in no time
from what i've seen, red gear has higher subattributes, which probably makes more of a difference than the base stats of the gear itself

Wow, the difference between 4-stars and a phase-1 is immense even when the rarity doesn't match.
it is huge, to encourage rolling, which encourages buying. Unfortunately it is a huge wall for free to play. You can get 2-3 genes a day from journey depending on luck. Needing 150 genes for phase 1 is a pretty significant hurdle even with the gene shop.
You also get about 22 generic genes from a 10 pull, which you will accrue constantly from pass rewards and events.
The way gene costs ramp up exponentially is pretty horrid. Seriously, 16 genes for a single one? And it still goes higher judging from the limit.
Sure. Idle games do tend to delay progress over time. I prefer this style over games that need built dupes + same element dupes, that need built dupes + same element dupes, so you can build dupes to build your actual unit.
i get that 3x chaos + 5x other element resonance is strong as frick because it stacks for chaos, but it's bullshit when AI gets to use duplicate leapers like this
You can only use up to 2 chaos leapers as substitutes for other elements, otherwise they just create chaos resonance. They also don't join other elements unless that element already has 4 members.

she is a low rank that can easily hit phase 3 with enough time though. I have been building her because she can almost solo the array archer boss. I have her on the bottom right most tile and she fires upwards into the boss pretty well, so I guess its mostly about her placement and anticipating where she may move in regular stages.
Well this will probably be the hardest achievement to get in the future, so I'm glad I got it early.

shes the strongest single target leaper youre using, plus presumably her summon isnt dying or is staying up constantly so she has twice the damage output. pretty predictable outcome especially since all your other leapers specialize in multiple targets

Even when she was a 2*, that early Phase 1 basically carries her and the team up to Campaign 12. It's a good thing though so you can focus on resource surveys.

For clarification, I thought you were talking about Golin, as her shards seem to be more common than other 1*s and even 2*s.
Mine was Amber, strangely enough. Was getting a lot of Golin on my first week but Tako and Amber ended up being my first 1* Phase 1's.
I just now got enough to phase Tako (even after buying some of her genes) and I have rolled 1400~ times. For me it was Fun, Amber, J-001 Sea Dream, J-001, then Tako. Not counting Doranna and Leonev who were first and second respectively.
My Leo and SD Peru are also phase 1, normally quite good but lackluster in this fight apparently.
The value of a stat on gear determines the boost to power level.
This means "Energy Skill DMG Bonus" increases it the most because that can reach 75%, while "Crit chance" increases it the least with its max of 7%.
If you want to have the highest overall power level on your team, get Energy Skill DMG Bonus on every piece of gear and you can reach over 1mil total power.

in case no one noticed, you don't regenerate a new journey card if you have 1 or higher cards in reserve, so you need to burn them off since you can only store one card post patch. I was wondering why I couldn't get any more until i saw the 9/1 limit (i had 9 pre patch)
The Journey Center has always said a "max" of 1 on the homepage, even before the update. I'm not positive, but I believe the true max before was 6, so assuming the cap hasn't actually changed you just hit the cap and then bought the 3 shop tickets. It's almost definitely not actually 1 at any rate.
but you don't get the "free" card unless it is at zero. I logged in today and got the free card from logging in. So you can technically store above 1, but then you don't get any more free journey cards on the login.
Well, dunno what to tell ya because I've been getting new journey tickets even with more than one remaining. Either your game is bugged somehow or perhaps you're checking at the wrong time. The game only refreshes stuff like the journey center and the daily tasks at midnight my time, which is 5:00 on the in-game clock, instead of when the login bonus happens at in-game midnight.

Nice to see the game improving. Had some shit aspect and shitty changes at first but the journey center change alone has made the game even more free to play friendly. Feels like it should be pretty easy to breakthrough even event characters to stage 5 and phase over time.

I love my SD Becky, she carries my team through Neutron Star. But damn her Character Gear Skill is rather underwhelming. Increasing the buffer for her 10% selected healing from 20% to 30% current HP doesn't really do much for PvP.
At least she has great synergy with Leonlev and Clara who benefits a lot from the heal.
Crit bonus feels like such a wasted stat on most leapers.

The gear is already different between the classes, no reason they can't have their own separate lists of bonuses. Instead of separating the bonuses by head, chest, and footwear, they could just do it for Mage/Fighter, Archer/Assassin, and Tank/Support instead.

The reason devs would let gear have one giant substat pool instead of seperated by class, is to sell array entry tickets. With one big fricked up substat pool, the chances of getting worthwhile gear would plummet. Hopefully devs dont force us to grind out gear like its E7.

3* assistants use up a lot of journey coins so you can run out of if you have two assistants unless you have a perfect run I think, that would be all super happy face.
Rarity level of an assistant doesn't matter, all assistant genes cost 40 and there's 3 of them.
If Patch's Phase 1 upgrade doesn't increase her block chance she's kinda shit, but on the other hand half the fighters are kinda shit so she can probably still replace someone. Likely Mica. You'd only ever run her on 5 fighter teams though.
i think the devs really like the idea of fighter resonance but don't want it to get out of hand with an exceptionally strong individual leaper
like how in some stages, once a fighter gets a kill then the entire team starts steamrolling, and fricking sariels just solo everything
That really is the issue, Fighters are garbage until one of them gets a kill, but the main issue is that they're stupidly squishy for a class that is meant to be on the frontline. Of the three melee classes, Fighters die the fastest. Assassins have the benefit of not being focused at the start and also getting dodge when they get low, Tanks are Tanks, but Fighters get nothing inherently and tend to just fold.
Even the ranged classes survive better by virtue of engaging first and doing more damage. Only Supports die faster than Fighters because once they're targeted they have nothing to fight back with, but if your Supports are getting attacked you've already fricked up.
As for individual leapers, if you don't have a Phase 1 Leonlev, don't run Fighters. Leonlev is the backbone of any Fighter team and far more powerful than the rest, but even she has problems. They recently fixed her lifesteal passive (it was giving 10% only instead of scaling based on missing HP) but her "uninterruptable" ultra skill still gets interrupted by everything.

the game is very collection driven, I don't think there is too many "bad" characters to be fair. A lot of the systems work better the more of each element you have. The low star rarity, its easier to get upgrades for, the high star rarity you send out on journeys for materials each day.
A character is pretty much done at phase 1 and while it takes a decent amount of time to get there, its made easier by the rolls each event.
Actually, now that I think about it, is there an objectively 'bad' character? My thoughts don't immediately align to a single character.
even if you get 3* later on to replace some, the 2* will probably hit phase 1 first and you need to level them or get them anyhow to unlock bonus stats with the friend system. Also you will someday need to pump them full of gifts for manufacturing bonus.
1 and 2 stars seem marginal at best. Last summer event (like the one we are having now), I experimented with getting 1 and 2 stars upgraded to clear the event with and they really dont perform that well. Dora was the only objectively good 2 star and they made her 3 star.
My Phase 1 Amber is basically a discount Clara. Still, a phase 1 Assassin that survives the backline is pretty decent.
even with upgrades I don't think they give them phase 1 or high level personal equipment, it makes a huge difference in survival. I won't deny they could be seen as fodder but they are actually fairly well rounded. What is important I guess is balancing team support with dps.
They do need to work on warrior class though it still is too damn weak. They are completely unnecessary, even the 3*.
They get to be at the same level and character gear in the event as any other leaper you upgrade. So level 100 +16 character gear. In that sense, its a fair comparison, since you remove the random gear stat lines from the equation.
my 1* taraxa does fair enough in the event, and her ultra skill melts everything as always

-You don't have to do Iridescent Array every day. You can store up to 9 charges for both the Exclusive Array and Gear Array. Save the charges for the suit or gear you need and use them all on that day. Everything opens on Sunday also.
-Try to use Journey Center on 3* Leapers rather than 2*. The reason being is it is much harder to get 3* Leaper fragments to reach phase 1. Also Successful Journey Center objectives give boosts to the raw manufacturing stats permanently to Leapers, and also boosts their Affinity.
-Speaking of Affinity you will want to unlock these. It is in the training heart on the bottom tab of the Leaper Files. It is not too apparent but there is a small present icon mid screen on the right where you can gift presents to Leapers to improve their affinity (top left heart bar). Reaching the max for a heart will allow their friend to boost their stats, but you will need to raise their friend (and have them) to level 70, which is slightly higher than the reset limit of 60. It is worth it though. Leapers like different types of gifts but it is a pretty slow system. Every few days if you are manufacturing them you can gift a bunch to try to reach level 1/2+ affinity with your best leapers.
-Try to not spread yourself too thin. Pick a team of 8 to work with that give team bonuses and level those up. Costs get reallly expensive the higher level you get.
-Make sure to level up your personal gear item on Leapers to at least 16 if you are using them. It unlocks their special ability, and upgrades again at 21.
-If you have Doris the Leaper, use her as main tank. She is probably the most game carrying tank as her personal gear heals the entire team when she gets hit. She is the pirate shark? girl. If you don't have her Fun, unless they nerfed her is a good substitute because she has a lot of damage reduction abilities and she is easy to upgrade.

that's a good point actually, according to the notice the Ultimate Frost stops at 20% attack speed down (basically at 2 stacks), but I guess if the unit also has a lot of Frost stacks then yes? Considering how hard it is for Hardo to hit multiple units due to her shitty ult targetting then it honestly might not make a big difference in practice.
