          Anonymous

Of course you can, you can do the fire temple any time you want actually even as the first temple since you don't need Bow for it and don't need the Hammer anywere else till Ganons Tower.

          Anonymous

Pretty sure you can't because I would always skip the Forest Temple in fear of wall masters so I would do Fire Temple first.
If I could do Water Temple too I'm sure I could do that before the Forest Temple as well but I never could so I doubt you can do Water before Fire.

            Anonymous

you can do any temple in any order as long as you enter them and collect their special item. for instance, you need the iron boots, the zora tunic, the bow, and the hookshot to complete the water temple, so as long as you have those items you'll be able to do it. you don't even really need the zora tunic arguably. it's the same with zelda LTTP and other games that follow the same formula

              Anonymous

Yeah, but at the point you're running a dungeon deep enough to snag the special item, saying you did them out of order just because you didn't kill the bosses yet is a bit pedantic. A better example would be doing Misery Mire before the Ice Palace to cheese the block-drop puzzle with Staff of Somaria, since the Ice Palace only has an armor upgrade and not an item required for puzzles.

You only have to do Forest before Water because you need the Bow in it.
You can even just grab the bow and go there right away without finishing Forest.
Finishing Water also unlocks the Shadow temple, so you can go there second even.
Many people don't ever realise this but you can mix up the order quite a bit, for Spirit temple you only need the Longshot really so you could go there right after Water too.

In the main room there is an eyeswitch to open a gate for a few seconds and you need the longshot to pass it in time.

I don't know why you homosexuals are so hung up on this but even if you finish everything you enter you can just do the fire temple first or the forest temple first and then the water temple second and after that the rest in any order you like.

            Anonymous

You can do Forest, Fire and Water in any order, and that's without being a homosexual that leaves mid dungeon. Both Shadow and Spirit are gated by the first 3, but can be done in either order as part of the 2nd set.

You don't need the megaton hammer to complete the water temple, so yeah you can. OoT is actually surprisingly non linear

            Anonymous

it's been a while but I'm reasonably sure that you need the megaton hammer because there's a special room where you have to slam a large stone slab into the ground in order to activate a water pump that will take you up to reach the upper levels of the dungeon, a path you need to travel to get the longshot.

the real problem is that its a hilarious non-fight, like everything in OoT. either you do it wrong and it doesnt work, or you use the hammer/dins fire/biggorons sword or whatever and the ai literally cant respond to it because it wasnt programmed to. no actual action combat to be had, no being reflexive, no skillful gameplay, just use item A on enemy B to proceed. all of OoT is like this and thats why its a shit game

Is there any Zelda game with good combat?.

        The 2nd one.

        Anonymous

Yeah the 2d ones. Although to be fair while 3D zeldas after OoT have shit combat, they at least try a little harder to not be completely braindead about it, like WW or TP. Their combat is shit too but at least in those games if I hold forward and mash B 99% of enemies dont just die effortlessly.

          What makes lot better

The 2d zeldas? They aren't anything special, its just that the very basic tenants of action games are actually present. They rely on your reflexes, judgement, and awareness to overcome enemies. OoT's action elements are all completely superficial and don't have any of this at all. You can't overcome an enemy in OoT with good reflexes or timing or anything like that. The game was never designed for that kind of gameplay to begin with. Whether or not you think thats a good thing is up for you to decide.

I was saying that WW and TP tried harder, but their combat is still shit. But I can at least give them credit for trying to expand the combat mechanics a bit. Its actually not THAT bad in TP, but its also just not quite good enough either.

I found WW combat to be really braindead. Just wait with guard down and hit A when it lights up to instakill everything.

TP did it all much better with different special attacks, and they even managed the mechanic from WW better in that you had to have your sword sheathed and put yourself at risk for the quick draw attack.

            Anonymous

While this is true I still think WW had some of the best chaotic mass encounters of any Zelda.
Single enemies kinda have to be shitty when you fight several dark nuts, wizrobes and moblins all at once.
Granted to this extreme it only happens a few times but nonetheless those were some fun and hectic times

Dark Link doesn't dodge your attacks if you aren't locked on to him, because Navi is the lock on system and this is supposed to be a 1v1. It's dumb and they never explain it, but that's the actual way this fight is supposed to be done.

these games are notorious for having garbage combat by even the lowest action game standards. slow paced, brain dead AI, link has a billion fricking HP with hearts everywhere while enemies die in like 2 hits (even bosses drop in like 4-6 jump slashes), etc. zelda games are about exploration, item collection, and puzzle solving with light combat as spice
