It is fricking not better. Having your opponent set up their big bad bosses and 20 fricking layers of negation turn one if you drew no hand traps is not better. Oh fricking wait, most modern decks can play through one or two hand traps pretty easily so even this will not help you from being assfricked.
There was a goat format event running on MD for like a week, shit was about as miserable as the modern game, except instead of negates you were getting fricked by haymakers and dumb topdecks.

Early YGO through GX was peak. I still replay Nightmare Troubadour and other early YGO games because it's simply more fun. I say that as someone who has been playing a Madolche deck for almost a decade now.
My other hot takes are that Terraria 1.2 was peak Terraria, Minecraft peaked in early Beta and not 1.7.3, Afterbirth was peak Isaac, and pre-Joker Ultimate was peak Smash Bros.
