Sure, screen sucks right now (buff/rework please) and wavebreaker isn’t meta, but they make theoretical sense for the weapons and will be fun to use. These people are too mentally ill to just stop playing the game despite being completely miserable over it, and worse, some rely on it financially and are incentivized to seethe for money. I have my problems with this game, particularly maps and some balancing, but I just stopped playing when those were so bad that I wasn’t enjoying it

Why is it bad? Splash gives you a good defensive wall, tri splash gives you a strong defensive ward to chase c**ts out of your face.
It wouldn't even work with sticks and lids anyhow anon.
Splash Wall is good in theory, but Explosher will have very little shots after deploying it even with ink savers.
Splashdown might save you from rushdowns, but if you let that happen you kinda fricked up to begin with. It also won’t help you push the enemy team back if they take control, which is why I don’t like that special on a backliner in particular.

It’s not the aggressive kit most people wanted but it’s an interesting one at least. Beakons are always good for supporting the team, and wavebreaker while not meta is good support as well and isn’t one where you throw yourself into the middle of the frontlines where you most certainly can’t escape, plus anyone hit can be combo’d as well with 2 sloshes to finish them off. Dread can hold on its own with 2 sloshes doing 90 and good range so a bomb isn’t necessary. Just keep your distance and you’ll be fine
The new kit is not a replacement but, as alt kits should be, an alternative to allow for a support-oriented playstyle

I'm actually pretty excited for it-- I like Beakons, and I like Sloshers, and as far as I'm aware there's never been a Beakon on a Slosher before. I think it'll be good for the weapon, too, since its long range means it doesn't really need a sub to help it fight, and Wave gives location to help you find enemies behind terrain and chip damage for one-shot kills. I actually don't understand what's causing all the fuss, is it just because Chara said it would get Torpedo and it doesn't have Torpedo?

Eh, it’s tough to say. Taking away the opponents sight right by an objective while you retain it could be really strong. Probably wouldn’t make it meta because zooka, crab, jet and cooler are too all purpose, but it could make it “good”. But yeah, they’re slow to make changes, so who knows if it will ever get a buff of substance. I hope balance patches continue after other support ends

I gotta tip for you, learn to notice how your radical pops up when you're on a target. Hide behind it as it slowly moves, with Ninja Squid for umbrella, and Thermal Ink for Squeezer. Back up when you can tell another player is being ballsy enough to swim through it.
Stay back, and throw it at a high spot, so it makes a tall screen that snipers can't see through. Not too high because there's a gap that makes it so people can swim under it. Depends on the maps obviously, but always go for a mid high throw.
Since they fixed the eye strain issue, I've been enjoying the frick out of this weapon both squeezer and umbrella, and the only reason umbrella is lower is because it's too weak to survive during normal combat.

Anon I love saltspray rig and wish it would get reworked, but the reef was already a good stage that needs little to no alterations. Saltspray rig would need a lot of retweaking if they were to reintroduce it.
I like Kelp Dome too just from an aesthetic view, but some of its ranked layouts were pretty shit. Hopefully they modify it a bit like they did bluefin depot w/ it's moving zone for instance
yeah i don't think i played rank on Kelp Dome, but i've heard of the complaints. But seeing how they removed all the railings for splatoon 3, I worry half the fun of even playing in terf mode is going to be wrecked. There was a small railing on the spawn side in undertow spillway, because it would give long range weapons an advantage, mostly with the crabs. They could bring that back now because crabs aren't as big of a threat anymore.
I liked Splatoon 1 maps for letting players be cheeky shits. Saltspray is already set up to be a tricolor map, and I'm ok with it being retooled so some of that could be fixed. Skipper Pavilion was a version of Saltspray done better, but I think it's missing the vertical height. It makes you go down before you can go back up.

Most of them? Once you get out of mid, it’s one of the chokiest final pushes to KO the objective in the entire series
I'm really surprised Moray Towers isn't coming back? You'd think that'd be another map that would exist in all three games. It's not my favorite but it has a gimmick. Most of the new maps just have themes, without a gimmick.
Noone's saying splatoon 3 has good maps because they're not memorable. Kelp Dome has no walls to paint, and yet the mobility of it stands out over Brinewater Springs and Undertow Spillway because of the railings and the intent of the map to allow players to swim around effortlessly. Robo ROM-en is the only good one so far because they understood what you need to do to make a fun gimmick map, a means to flank. Great themeing won't save a shitty map.

They can’t really do it for the hub and not the stages or else we’d have the same complaint about the lore not making sense. And it would be visual whiplash for brightness. It definitely feels a bit off to be playing at night and be in a bright hub, but I understand the choice
because they decided there wasn't a reason to have day cycles for the hub, they made splatfests at night because it gives off more of a music festival/concert vibe with it being dark and have a bunch of glowing stuff

The main concern Im hearing is people think the enemies might be boring or it might be too easy, but we havent even seen all of the enemies and majority of people who played it says it has a lot of challenge. By design it’s going to be much more challenging than OE because you have a limited pool of lives for the full tower with difficulty that can ramp up in unforeseen ways. OE it was always the same level and you had lives for each one, not the mention the ability to skip missions. I think people should at least wait until it’s out before going full doomer, it looks pretty solid to me.

All in all I feel none of this should catch anyone offguard if theyve been playing Splat 3 since the beginning. Were people really holding out hope that this team would learn how to make good weapon kits? Pretty much every season at least half the kits have been mediocre. People need to learn to stop getting their hopes up for these kits that more often than not turn out lackluster.
The kits wouldn't even really be a problem if they were more frequent in releasing them though. We've gotten less and less kits as the seasons go on when they're literally the easiest part of the game to make yet homosexuals will still defend this for the sake of being contrarian. Waiting 18 months for a mediocre kit and knowing you probably won't be seeing another one anytime soon is the problem more so than the kit itself being mediocre. In a game that now has 14 subs and 19 specials every weapon should be getting at least three kits.
I pointed that out months and months ago but I got labeled a doomer. Now that I've tempered my expectations, suddenly now I'm a contrarian.
I was "doomposting" when none of you homosexuals could see the writing on the walls. I lowered expectations then, yet everyone held on to some stupid hope that they would magically get their shit together. They didn't and they wont. Such is the state of Splatoon 3. There's still a lot I enjoy about this game, but none of this shit surprises me.

I enjoy it too and I'm really looking forward to the new Salmon Run stuff/Side Order but I can still be disappointed in this consistent mediocrity. It doesn't surprise me but I don't want to lower my expectations for the third game in this series nor should I have to. I would rather hold out the smallest amount of hope and be disappointed than lower my expectations and just praise them for doing the bare minimum.

It’s always been okay to complain about shit. Maps have been complained about since day 1. That’t not what doomerism is. being a doomer is, for example, the people who whined splash and crab would be the meta forever. crab still needs more nerfs, it’s just not the most pressing issue
I was in the honeymoon phase during the first few months but even then I constantly complained about the awful maps and atrocious connection isssues.
Custom Explo is the straw that's breaking my back and likely turning me into an official doomer.
Sure I can apologize for having hope/cope but kits weren't really a problem in the beginning though. It was mainly just the maps being dogshit and lack of new gear. It wasn't until recently that kits slowed to a glacial pace for no reason and they became worse synergy-wise as well.

It's still tilting to think that some of these might have gotten a better kit simply the virtue of releasing before Screen/Splashdown. Explosher especially got fricked hard simply because the devs waited so long to give it a 2nd kit

I stopped playing this troony game a month after purchase.
Maybe it's because I bought the previous troony game, which I played for hundreds of hours, before finally getting fed up with connection errors. Thinking that they would fix it in 3 I picked it up, only to find no change to matches dropping me. I always play on a wired connection, and I have fiber, so I can't chalk the incompetence up to anything but Shitendo. It's a shame because it's fun, but then the game sometimes just won't let me play.

Singleplayer is separate from pvp. OE was quality, even if not what people wanted, and SR has been good. really, the main problems with the game are maps, kits and pace of new content. That really doesn’t affect a singleplayer expansion

it's a bit alarming that splatoon 3 still hasn't outsold 2 yet, despite being the largest launch in japanese gaming history. It sold a massive 10 million units in 3 months, yet nearly two years later it's only managed to push past 11 million.
Game doesn't have the same legs in the other regions, Splatoon is pretty small in the west all things considered. I run into the same players on a regular basis. Also it was released towards the tail end of the Switch's lifetime and is a sequel of a game that's already on the Switch. Those generally don't tend to sell as well, but Splat 3 just doesn't seem to have the same legs or momentum of 2. A new splat on a new console though? That will be carried for a while
season model makes it feel like if you didn't get in at the start you've already missed too much to get in and everyone bought in based off goodwill, once players got their hands on the game and started giving a lot of criticism outsiders took that as a further reason to not pick it up

It's definitely bait, but there's one other factor too.
When the notifications screen has too many notifications at once, not all of them are loaded on everyone's notifications. Some wind up just being excluded entirely, it's a flawed system. Normally it's slow enough to where that doesn't happen, but during splatfests it's pretty common for notifications to just go missing

Plenty of maps have some type of barrier of block or terrain to hide behind. Splatanas are not rollers, brushes, or buckets. they can't fricking lob shots/ink over them to harress and damage. Plus they can't deal with enemies higher up well since there's no falling ink to damage.
