Whoever is winning at halftime gets the defender bonus throughout the remainder of the fest. Sunday was winning at half time, so every time Team Sunday defends, they're going to get more points than Saturday or Friday when they defend. You're not more likely to get defense or attacker if you're winning, but the multiplier will come into effect when the winning team does get defense. Saturday has no advantage in this case.

No, idiot. You can very well see when you're attacker on a losing team, you have a 1.5X bonus, that's still there. If you're on the winning team, you get the 1.5X defender bonus, that was not changed.
The ONLY thing that was changed is that the old system had it so that the winning team was ALWAYS on defender, and the other teams were ALWAYS on attacker, making matchmaking near impossible to find a non-mirror match.
Now the way it works is that either the winning or the losing teams can be attacker or defender at random, but when losers get attacker and when winners get defender, the 1.5X bonus comes into effect. It's very clearly flashed on the screen when it happens and after the match, pay attention next time.

Boot up tricolor right now and pay attention to the graphics on the screen. If you are on team Sunday and defend, you'll see the 1.5X bonus. If you are on team Sunday and attack, you're not gonna see it.

Yeah, but how many of those Tricolours will be mirror matches? As a Sundaygay, I have only seen team Friday during Tricolour, not once have I seen them in regular or Pro. I'm hearing the same things from Fridaygays, only fighting Saturday and never Sunday. It honestly wouldn't surprise me if Saturdaygays are getting mirror matches left and right.

The leader doesn't get to defend more, but neither do the other teams. They all have an equal chance of getting defense. Problem is when Sunday gets defense and wins, which will be nearly every time, they will get 1.5X the amount of clout. That will add up over time. That's the problem.
The mirror matches aren't factored in, but an aggregate the matches that do happen, no matter how little, are done by an average, not just raw clout.

If you liked Octo Expansion, good news, Splatoon 3's Story is basically more Octo Expansion. We also have the Side Order DLC, which comes out next week.

Multiplayer depends ok your preferences. It has map issues, but it’s my favorite of the 3. Less jank, better balance, fun weapons.
well, rotm copies a lot of shit from octo expansion, to the point where it would've been better off doing its own thing. there are some nice and unique stages, the boss fights are pretty good and the music is as quality as ever, but the plot is the worst in the series and a lot of people view the climax as jumping the shark. the difficulty is generally lower than octo expansion so if you liked that aspect of it, you're probably gonna be disappointed
there are also a lot of people who view it as a massive waste of potential considering its villain, and some are pissed by the bait and switch of the desert intro into alterna

On day one, my third match was, by some incredible miracle, a x100 battle. Literally 2 seconds into the match, there was a power outage. I never got a single x100 the entire rest of the event. That outage wound up souring my mood for the entire event.

Pretty good for the most part, literally only saw Saturday and as long as my teammates were halfway competent it was an easy win.

I grinded this Splatfest to get the gold Deep Cut badges, I think I'd only won two or three 10x battles before this fest. I got maybe eight or nine 10x battles, I lost count, and I won all but two or three of them. I also got three 100x battles, but I only won one of them, while I was playing with the pool in Open. The other two were in Pro, and the game dealt me really shitty teammates on both of them. One of them paired me with a Nova and a Big Swig who BOTH got no kills and dies eight times, and the other one put me with a Custom Jr., an Aerospray, and a Blob, who did a little better than the other team but still not great. And in both matches, we lost by only a few percent, which makes it all the more aggravating. Oh, well.

Tricolor for bluefin depot was not properly play tested. Anyone willing to tell me their stats for wins/losses as attacker? I think I only won as attacker once, and half the defending team was just jumping at their spawn for half the match. I know people squid party but I actually had this happen twice and I assime it's because other players were catching on that being defender is almost a guaranteed auto win.

They won 99% of their defender battles, they lost 99% of their attacker battles. It was extremely defender favored.
Overall the W/L ratio was 28.6% for attackers

i have my fingers crossed for the reef, starfish mainstage, arowana mall or camp triggerfish. To be honest, I think triggerfish and arowana wouldn't work as well with 3's specials, but I really like their themes. I did hear their was a datamine that already revealed the next returning map but I don't remember what it was. Then again, they said the same thing about a salmon run map that never returned so who knows

Seeing as how we've only seen one new stage for the season, and every update has had two stages, I think The Reef being the quintessential Splat 2 stage is a safe bet, since this is basically a Splat 2 themed season. Not a guarantee but I think it's pretty likely.

Quite a few were, but the reef and kelp dome were shown to have entirely new builds for S3, so could be one or the other. But also there was internal data found for a symmetrical map layout which could also insinuate the return of skipper pavilion or saltspray rig given when the lift data was found that was used for bluefin. It’s anyone’s guess tbh
I didn't lose that many attacker games, my win rate is a little above 60%. I even find a nice guy who where jumping to the ramp from the elevator to vacuum the signal so I can get the signal.
I did lose some stupid defender games though. Players going in the enemy spawn while they're trying to get the signal and such. Bluefin depot is so bad with shitters.
I was one of those, lol. Camping the attackers spawn was so fun because you could just lock them in so easily if you have bubbler. But yeah, I did let them slip by every now and then and it costed me a game but just one.

The issue is the writing. or lack of it. Deep Cut as a whole has no character, even more when you compare them to the Sisters or Hook. They genuinely have nothing going on writing wise, moot personalities and they really don't build from their cultural inspirations like they did with Hook.

Not denying that they have poor writing, but Pearl isn't nearly as ugly as Frye. Plus the dark skin multiples the ugliness exponentially (Marina was fine because she's conventionally attractive).
People just don't like ugly characters, no way around that fact. Pearl's overall design was passable at least.

This stage was likely in development for a couple of weeks at best, and not playtested. Side order has been in development for over a year.

Unfortunate for Frye, Deep Cut got shafted in the DLC for their own game. The focus is on Pearl and Marina and 8...again. So Frye and the others have lost a big chance to get fleshed out.
Being fair, Hook wasn't part of 2's base campaign, unlike Deep Cut for 3.
They had an entire campaign to build from, In my opinion the player hsould had lost contact with the Sisters right after the fight with Octavio and now be stuck with Deep Cut, as the 4 try to understand where they are and how to escape from there
in my opinion the story campaign seemed like it was really quickly thrown together. Maybe they had plans for something more interesting, but it really felt halfassed and poorly thought out.
They wouldn't have needed a DLC if they were placed in the desert campaign they were obviously made for before it got scrapped for "uhhh frick we're outta time just make Octo Expansion again"
I think the issue is that Shiver and Frye are both a bit stupid and agressive with bigman being their straightman. Big Man has some basic actual character, but there's nothing really different about how Frye and Shiver are written, so people choose with their dick.

Big man can hardly even move around. He just stands there saying Ay! and is a big doormat. He's a glorified mascot. He arguably has the least personality out of all three.
I mean, that's his something, you described him and his indentifiable qualities. Hell, you could even see an angle with the other two holding him back like what that happened in that song where he collabs with the sisters.
He has something, not a lot, but something to set him apart.
I think part of this problem is how the three fit into that Buddist three "sins" motif, where Big Man comes off as the most personality because he actually has the more admirable traits.

Shiver and Frye ALMOST play into their vices, but Big Man's whole deal is to be chill and non confrontational, which comes off like he's delusional because he thinks that THIS TIME the two girls won't give him shit for his take. He wants to collab and bring peace. The two girls straight up bully and harass him.
Shiver is the next best simply because she's more sneaky and conniving in her personality. Frye is just "loud and in your face." but she really doesn't stand for much. What do they actually do on their free time other than shit talk and be b***hes? You can like that about them, but most Big Man people prefer the chill and level headed ness of him.
Thats the question the fandom should be asking instead of gaslighting themselves into blaming everything else
Make her call everyone a Black person and say she hates gays. That will get rid of her fanbase and form a new one that is actually able to play the game.

I feel the real issue with Frye is that she's competing for the spot of "the goofy one." and she's completing with Big Man, who's just flat-out goofy. I think they should have doubled down on her aggressive side, which is sort of hinted at but not put at the forefront.
