1. Ink.square. ok despite the downgrade, Color pulse is still a good song. This place really felt like a crazy party with the colored spotlights and lasers.
2. Ink.plaza. City of Color is a nice song and the plaza is just a nice hub in general. Real cozy, but just not on the level of ink.square
3.Splatsville. the 3 platforms floating around is a...neat gimmick but eh. None of the 3 songs are strong enough on their own.
2nd half
1.Splatsville. from worst to best. When Anarchy Rainbow hits the chorus it's like the whole city is singing. And the back alley has a nice vibe with the muffled music and the cephs just chilling back there.
2. Ink.square. much of the same as the first half but with an unbutchered song and a more fun performance from OTH.
3. Ink.plaza. not much to say. Song is fine but not as good as the other 2. Callie and Marie's stages are pushed together but it doesn't serve much purpose. They're not running around and switching places like OTH

They just went too far with her design man. Asd the resident Pearlgay I can appreciate a good little gremlin "ugly cute" character but Frye is just too much. Even more bulbous forehead, those droopy ass ears, the way her face looks like it's melting off the front of her head, it's just too hideous. Hopefully they learn and tone things down a bit in the next installment.
There are things I like and understand about her design. She looks great in 2D most of the time, but her 3D model actually ruins it. The way her eyelashes look like neon toothpaste smeared across her eyes. She's always showing toes. Her nose is pointed up like it was punched in. She's supposed to be like the Tanuki next to the Kitsune, which is why her pants look like a nutsack most of the time.
Her best quality is she sticks her tongue out like a punk, she gets furiously angry, her voice is cute and she swears, she's got the Tanuki, Eel and Vampires squid thing going on, but because she's got to be all these things at once, she's an utter mess. She doesn't have a clear theme that stands out on it's own.
She's the embodiment of choas, and look how well that worked out in her favor.
My retort is how the Fox and Tanuki are very dominate creatures in the Splatoon lore. Shiver and Frye wear their masks to hide their identity, and poof away. They fit the bill, more than any other JP Yokai.
Now Kijimuna have "big heads" which I get why you'd say that but they also hate Octopus... Frye doesn't seem to have issue with Octolings, if she's going to be friends with Shiver. If Frye is a Kijimuna, then what is Shiver in the duo?
Pretty much all the idols have a consistent, solid design going on. Callie and Marie are the "conventionally attractive" idol types, with Callie being the cheery one and Marie being the snarky one. Pearl is a tiny little firecracker which contrasts with her Princess motif she had going on and Marina is the "tall dark, exotic beauty" type. Shiver has her "haughty geisha" type thing going on, and Big Man is...well he's just a literal fricking manta ray but at least you can tell what he's supposed to be by looking at him. Frye...frick dude. Like you said, they tried to go with like three different designs and the end result is just an unidentifiable mish mesh of stuff. Even "chaotic" characters need to have solid design principles behind them or else they end up looking unappealing.
So there's details that certainly could be fixed from this without changing too much. Shiver has the stronger design of the two so Frye's version should be complimentary of that, similar to Pearl and Marina's design chemistry.
If Shiver were to have one side of her face covered, maybe do the opposite of that with Frye's face. The way her front pony tail is tied up looks like a sausage but in a gross way, not a cute braid way like the inkling's braid. Put it over her left side of her face so that when she and Shiver are standing next to each other, they can only see you with one eye.
Frye can still have her big fore head, but you need to make the ears smaller. Not less pointy but they take up more space and don't really compliment the points on the mask. You can't have BOTH. The mask eyelash points are great, but then why have those neon eyelashes?
As for the pants. I get having Tanuki balls is the joke, but why not bring the crotch up higher and have her charm swing lower? Make her pendant the swinging balls? Would that be too on the nose with that?
This isn't the best I could do but I wasn't trying to change too much, just reorder some things. She'll just always have a big head. I accept that it didn't fix anything, but i tried.

Both Story Modes are there to build and expand the Squid Sisters or Off the Hook. Deep Cut shows up in the main story mode but they're just... there. They don't do anything along the way to expand the game play or feel like a threat.
They were designed to be bandits and team rocket esc rivals, and yet they are push overs and only the boss fights to make a lasting impression of themselves.
During the splatfest announcements, there is very minimal dialogue that is unique for them to build on their personality.

And Big Man has the cross collab cucking that culminates into the other two seething as well. Way better implementation of the idol songs as additional story this time around.

Her entire mannerisms are, even the way she shakes her head no. She's very cute in an animal sort of way, like a cat or dog. She barely looks human anyway, which really alleviates any uncannyness of the big silly forehead for me. I think that's the point of her character, Shiver is "sexy" and Frye is cuddly.
Anon they barely even live together, as was the major point in Splatoon 2 and why Callie could go missing for so long. If anything I'd say since Splatoon 2 and 3 you honestly get to see that Callie and Marie don't honestly get that well together when it's not on stage. Marie at best tolerates Callie who in turn is more so oblivious of the other's feelings on a lot of matters.

She's literally moving around like a monkey, with no squid like properties that is the appeal of the other idols. Marina is the darling and Japan love black people.

Shiver translated the best into 3D because she's the closest to being "normal". Nintendo has always struggled with making "weird" designs work in 3D; Bowser's been operating on Disney Mascot Costume rules where his face literally never moves since the N64, for example.
If Nintendo keeps struggling with this, they really need to start contracting out Retro studios for animation work. Imagine how much more endearing Frye and Big Man would be if they had the animation quality of the recent Mario Strikers game, for example.

it's not stylized CGI is what you're saying. I think there was more of that in Splatoon 2 cause Marina and Pearl still recycled animations but I think the lighting engine was better for them. I find it really difficult to make out and pay attention to each character during their interactions. At least in the story mode, they get more movements and expression exaggerations.

I would really wonder if this was by design. Was the band ever supposed to be stable? They made it pretty clear that the team functions around the Three Sins in Buddhism, but if the devs start to make changes based on how the players, when did they settle on making the band "fall apart"?

Stop trying to rewrite history. Pearl's early characterization amounted too 'I'm rich' and 'I'm a punching bag for Marina's banter' before the latter got removed. Plus the unnaturally support Pearl got in the west didn't translate to Japan where Marina won a lot of the early ones instead, unlike in the west where Pearl kept sweeping everything.
Big Betrayal is fine over all because of that siren effect that gets the blood pumping for the match you're in. Suffer No Fools is only suffering. Pearl has really good rhythm which is why her raps are enjoyable. Shiver and Frye just sound out of tune.
The fact that the lore behind the song is Frye and Shiver get assmad OtH has a show in Splatsville, they barge in and challenge them to a rap battle and then proceeded to ger their asses handed to them amuses me.

I guess throw yourself into the salmon run grinder since it forces you to effectively learn to dodge threats and manage dealing with/juggling objectives and enemies, also how to move properly/well, the problem is if you haven't really grinded it before you've pretty much lost the ability to shadow and learn from better players on your salmon team since they will be too far above you to get matched with you in solo queue
I guess grinding side order could also force to learn fundamentals especially with low/no hack runs which can required damn near perfect movement in order to not lose

I was able to clear Side Order via 2 life, 1.2x damage, and continue limiting my pallete to just 18 slots but it was enough to make that otherwise octo blaster -work- enough to beat it only dying once towards the 3rd phase of the final boss (but honestly there's always something about either it's reefslider spam or beams that fricks with me and will take a life on any run at all.). Otherwise was doing 2.7x clears before the splatfest so I could clear out the perz store.
Salmon run might be the better call as I've been more or less stuck on wave 3 no-clears at profreshonal +1 for months on end and still can't get anywhere in it. But then again in most matches I'm the one who's dying the least and only one using specials at all so I don't know what exactly I should be looking out for by other 'better' players as I feel like everyon's already in VIP+ while I can't even break 85 eggs on the last event (I could only get at best 84 so another green statue for me...)

Honestly the 1-29F climb I honestly don't have issues with....As long as I avoid both "Cruel_Sisyphean_Eight-Shaped.Floor" and "Coverage(Between-Crosshairs).Floor". Those two turf war maps are just hell given the sheer volume of stuff on the former + the distance between the two different turfs being so wide as well I only feel a few builds can do it without just being stuck at one turf waiting for enough disks to drop to seal the spawns, get a few points, and do it again. While the latter is just so many Nobilmente's that never stop spawning and I swear go into rapid fire mode after 2 shots, along with the normal spam of Drizz's between 2 points with no wall painting allowed is just a map that takes forever and a single slip up is another 3 mins tacked on because frick you.

Side Order is virtually impossible to lose. Unfortunately while PvP skill transfers to SO, the SO skill (if there's even such a thing) does not transfer back to PvP. If anything it may harm PvP skills by making the player too complacent. You go and play SO to relax while wrecking stuff in near-God Mode, not to get better at the main game.

To add, After Alterna is a much better practice of movement and aiming skill. Do a playthrough once a day before starting PvP, once you get it down it shouldn't take you more than 15 minutes without dying, and you'll be proper warmed up.
Also the Takos at the end of AA are so much better than Harmonies, I wish we could play them as bots on real PvP maps.

there's a reason people shit on the new weapons every season because there are fundamental flaws with certain kits and designs. The argument that people can get good with any kit is true, but then if YOU'RE NOT GOOD at it, switch weapons.
I've never used Toxic Mist, even back in Splat1 but I know that it has it's usefulness, and I'm glad when a player can utilize it properly, but I'LL never feel comfortable using it. Equally, I've always loved how playing a Hydra has felt, and finally getting the best kit for it was a blessing. But it took all three games to really get used to the rhythm of it's charge speed and weight, but when you get large kill counts and no deaths in it, it's the best feeling in the world. Same reason people main e-liter.
All these guys saying play Salmon Run to practice, sure, but I'd rather not have a scrub on my team that gets fricked up when they're handed the charger. Certain weapons need a steadier hand than others, which is why being an Aero Spray are still viable despite what pros say. They are all about the coverage with no thoughts to be good at it. This is why you switch to being casual and just do terf all the time. No shame in just being a casual squid. I seriously learned everything by having someone do a trick on me and I go "how the frick did he do that?" so I learned how to do it myself.
Splat1 and 2 I really didn't play too many other weapons outside of my main, but Splat 3 was really good at getting me to try other weapons and see how far I can push myself with them. Which is mostly to blame from the devs for nerfing Rollers and Brellas. I don't think they want people to "main" a weapon any more to avoid spamming.

The first webm is just not knowing bubbler doesn't block tentamissiles, now you do
The second webm tells me you're not sure how to use tristringer and aren't using all the information the game gives you to understand what's going on. Tristringer is more of a mid/long range support poking weapon, it's not a good idea to let people approach you, so it's better to hang back a bit. Work with your teammates. Considering this, in the webm you went ahead of your team and positioned yourself between an enemy painting off to the side and the blaster up in the middle, with another guy behind him. Maybe you didn't notice the guy off to the side or the blaster at first, but try paying more attention to the audio. Splatoon has some very good audio design and it will tell you a lot about where people are. It helps you know if there's an enemy, if your team is around with you, what weapon they're using, if they're using a bomb or special, if they're swimming even. It might sound obvious but the ink on the ground is also a good summary of the current state of the game, your own color is going to be safer, but also watch for where the ink is moving, it will let you know if someone there and even an estimate on what weapon they're using if you become familiar with spray patterns
Of course Ganker of all people would recommend playing SR, but while some things to transfer between SR and PVP, playing SR is primarily only going to make you better at playing fricking SR. Play more PVP, try practicing with more basic weapons like a shooter, and if you want then watch some higher level gameplay or guides, a guide on squid rolling locations in particular would be good. These things provide some rough ideas for you to eventually develop and incorporate into your gameplay over time.
I still think the best ploy for an idol group in 4 would be a 4-man band that constantly splits the vote over two choices between eachother. Imagine the nightmare shit when every member of the band but one agrees on their choice.

So they launched a disaster patch that ruined the game late into Splatoon 2's cycle, what kind of awful decisions do we expect them to make as Splatoon 3 draws to a close?
I'm not so sure they're going to do anything drastic if these weapon kits are anything to go by. They are afraid of making overpowered kits like the ones they put in base game. They've only put crab on ONE weapon since launch, being the stamper but they made sure to give it a harmless sub to balance it out.
I don't think there's going to be any major ability changes. Even the balance changes are very, very light and they seem reluctant to tweak things in a big way.

3.Splatsville. the 3 platforms floating around is a...neat gimmick but eh. None of the 3 songs are strong enough on their own.

1.Splatsville. from worst to best. When Anarchy Rainbow hits the chorus it's like the whole city is singing. And the back alley has a nice vibe with the muffled music and the cephs just chilling back there.

Said it before but my solution to the gatcha is to split each type of reward into its own gatcha, price accordingly, and let you pay for the reward you want. If you’re gonna have it, at least it gives you a choice of what reward you want rather than having to shell out 300,000 to get 7 xp tickets and locker shit before you get a new title

They just went too far with her design man. Asd the resident Pearlgay I can appreciate a good little gremlin "ugly cute" character but Frye is just too much. Even more bulbous forehead, those droopy ass ears, the way her face looks like it's melting off the front of her head, it's just too hideous. Hopefully they learn and tone things down a bit in the next installment.
There are things I like and understand about her design. She looks great in 2D most of the time, but her 3D model actually ruins it. The way her eyelashes look like neon toothpaste smeared across her eyes. She's always showing toes. Her nose is pointed up like it was punched in. She's supposed to be like the Tanuki next to the Kitsune, which is why her pants look like a nutsack most of the time.
Her best quality is she sticks her tongue out like a punk, she gets furiously angry, her voice is cute and she swears, she's got the Tanuki, Eel and Vampires squid thing going on, but because she's got to be all these things at once, she's an utter mess. She doesn't have a clear theme that stands out on it's own.
She's the embodiment of choas, and look how well that worked out in her favor.
She's not a Tanuki. If anything, she's a Kijimuna.
My retort is how the Fox and Tanuki are very dominate creatures in the Splatoon lore. Shiver and Frye wear their masks to hide their identity, and poof away. They fit the bill, more than any other JP Yokai.
Now Kijimuna have "big heads" which I get why you'd say that but they also hate Octopus... Frye doesn't seem to have issue with Octolings, if she's going to be friends with Shiver. If Frye is a Kijimuna, then what is Shiver in the duo?

Pretty much all the idols have a consistent, solid design going on. Callie and Marie are the "conventionally attractive" idol types, with Callie being the cheery one and Marie being the snarky one. Pearl is a tiny little firecracker which contrasts with her Princess motif she had going on and Marina is the "tall dark, exotic beauty" type. Shiver has her "haughty geisha" type thing going on, and Big Man is...well he's just a literal fricking manta ray but at least you can tell what he's supposed to be by looking at him. Frye...frick dude. Like you said, they tried to go with like three different designs and the end result is just an unidentifiable mish mesh of stuff. Even "chaotic" characters need to have solid design principles behind them or else they end up looking unappealing.
So there's details that certainly could be fixed from this without changing too much. Shiver has the stronger design of the two so Frye's version should be complimentary of that, similar to Pearl and Marina's design chemistry.
If Shiver were to have one side of her face covered, maybe do the opposite of that with Frye's face. The way her front pony tail is tied up looks like a sausage but in a gross way, not a cute braid way like the inkling's braid. Put it over her left side of her face so that when she and Shiver are standing next to each other, they can only see you with one eye.
Frye can still have her big fore head, but you need to make the ears smaller. Not less pointy but they take up more space and don't really compliment the points on the mask. You can't have BOTH. The mask eyelash points are great, but then why have those neon eyelashes?
As for the pants. I get having Tanuki balls is the joke, but why not bring the crotch up higher and have her charm swing lower? Make her pendant the swinging balls? Would that be too on the nose with that?
This isn't the best I could do but I wasn't trying to change too much, just reorder some things. She'll just always have a big head. I accept that it didn't fix anything, but i tried.

Big Man at least gets development as the glue holding the group together, being both a communal punching bag for Frye and Shiver and the only reason those two can make music with jack shit, but Goddamn the whole group really should have been the main focus of either the story or the DLC.
Also Big Man is the only one who is likeable and marketable outside of Shiver. Shiver is hot, her co-host isn't, Big man is cool AND cute. Even Pearl had that goblin thing going for her. So its up to Big Man to carry the team.
We're talking about looks, not personality, Pearl is up there with Frye as being ugly as sin.
Yet people were propping her up day one before she got any real characterization more than 'I'm rich'.
Pearl isn't nearly as ugly as Frye though. She doesn't have those giant ugly ears and her face doesn't look like it's trying to escape her head. Her only "ugly" feature is having an oversized forehead, and even that is to a lesser degree than Frye.

Both Story Modes are there to build and expand the Squid Sisters or Off the Hook. Deep Cut shows up in the main story mode but they're just... there. They don't do anything along the way to expand the game play or feel like a threat.
They were designed to be bandits and team rocket esc rivals, and yet they are push overs and only the boss fights to make a lasting impression of themselves.
During the splatfest announcements, there is very minimal dialogue that is unique for them to build on their personality.
If anything, the extraordinary circumstances of the splatfests have pretty much cemented their infamy. The amount of seethe Shiver has produced is astounding.
And Big Man has the cross collab cucking that culminates into the other two seething as well. Way better implementation of the idol songs as additional story this time around.

it's not stylized CGI is what you're saying. I think there was more of that in Splatoon 2 cause Marina and Pearl still recycled animations but I think the lighting engine was better for them. I find it really difficult to make out and pay attention to each character during their interactions. At least in the story mode, they get more movements and expression exaggerations.
I would really wonder if this was by design. Was the band ever supposed to be stable? They made it pretty clear that the team functions around the Three Sins in Buddhism, but if the devs start to make changes based on how the players, when did they settle on making the band "fall apart"?

I guess throw yourself into the salmon run grinder since it forces you to effectively learn to dodge threats and manage dealing with/juggling objectives and enemies, also how to move properly/well, the problem is if you haven't really grinded it before you've pretty much lost the ability to shadow and learn from better players on your salmon team since they will be too far above you to get matched with you in solo queue
I guess grinding side order could also force to learn fundamentals especially with low/no hack runs which can required damn near perfect movement in order to not lose
I was able to clear Side Order via 2 life, 1.2x damage, and continue limiting my pallete to just 18 slots but it was enough to make that otherwise octo blaster -work- enough to beat it only dying once towards the 3rd phase of the final boss (but honestly there's always something about either it's reefslider spam or beams that fricks with me and will take a life on any run at all.). Otherwise only weapons I legit felt like I needed the hacks to clear with was the luna (so painfully slow) and the umbrella (so weak). Otherwise was doing 2.7x clears before the splatfest so I could clear out the perz store.
Salmon run might be the better call as I've been more or less stuck on wave 3 no-clears at profreshonal +1 for months on end and still can't get anywhere in it. But then again in most matches I'm the one who's dying the least and only one using specials at all so I don't know what exactly I should be looking out for by other 'better' players as I feel like everyon's already in VIP+ while I can't even break 85 eggs on the last event (I could only get at best 84 so another green statue for me...)
Honestly the 1-29F climb I honestly don't have issues with....As long as I avoid both "Cruel_Sisyphean_Eight-Shaped.Floor" and "Coverage(Between-Crosshairs).Floor". Those two turf war maps are just hell given the sheer volume of stuff on the former + the distance between the two different turfs being so wide as well I only feel a few builds can do it without just being stuck at one turf waiting for enough disks to drop to seal the spawns, get a few points, and do it again. While the latter is just so many Nobilmente's that never stop spawning and I swear go into rapid fire mode after 2 shots, along with the normal spam of Drizz's between 2 points with no wall painting allowed is just a map that takes forever and a single slip up is another 3 mins tacked on because frick you.

Shit, you can't even really use the enemy inkling boss as good practice because they tend to not operate like humans either.
It chances are doesn't help that by the time Harmony does spawn it tends to always be at a stage where I can do goofy shit like this and trivialize them harder then the ball boss.

Side Order is virtually impossible to lose. Unfortunately while PvP skill transfers to SO, the SO skill (if there's even such a thing) does not transfer back to PvP. If anything it may harm PvP skills by making the player too complacent. You go and play SO to relax while wrecking stuff in near-God Mode, not to get better at the main game.
To add, After Alterna is a much better practice of movement and aiming skill. Do a playthrough once a day before starting PvP, once you get it down it shouldn't take you more than 15 minutes without dying, and you'll be proper warmed up.
Also the Takos at the end of AA are so much better than Harmonies, I wish we could play them as bots on real PvP maps.

there's a reason people shit on the new weapons every season because there are fundamental flaws with certain kits and designs. The argument that people can get good with any kit is true, but then if YOU'RE NOT GOOD at it, switch weapons.
I've never used Toxic Mist, even back in Splat1 but I know that it has it's usefulness, and I'm glad when a player can utilize it properly, but I'LL never feel comfortable using it. Equally, I've always loved how playing a Hydra has felt, and finally getting the best kit for it was a blessing. But it took all three games to really get used to the rhythm of it's charge speed and weight, but when you get large kill counts and no deaths in it, it's the best feeling in the world. Same reason people main e-liter.
All these guys saying play Salmon Run to practice, sure, but I'd rather not have a scrub on my team that gets fricked up when they're handed the charger. Certain weapons need a steadier hand than others, which is why being an Aero Spray are still viable despite what pros say. They are all about the coverage with no thoughts to be good at it. This is why you switch to being casual and just do terf all the time. No shame in just being a casual squid. I seriously learned everything by having someone do a trick on me and I go "how the frick did he do that?" so I learned how to do it myself.
Splat1 and 2 I really didn't play too many other weapons outside of my main, but Splat 3 was really good at getting me to try other weapons and see how far I can push myself with them. Which is mostly to blame from the devs for nerfing Rollers and Brellas. I don't think they want people to "main" a weapon any more to avoid spamming.
Between these two webms it seems like you're just newer to the game and just aren't sure about some things yet. That's fine, you'll learn these things over time
The first webm is just not knowing bubbler doesn't block tentamissiles, now you do
The second webm tells me you're not sure how to use tristringer and aren't using all the information the game gives you to understand what's going on. Tristringer is more of a mid/long range support poking weapon, it's not a good idea to let people approach you, so it's better to hang back a bit. Work with your teammates. Considering this, in the webm you went ahead of your team and positioned yourself between an enemy painting off to the side and the blaster up in the middle, with another guy behind him. Maybe you didn't notice the guy off to the side or the blaster at first, but try paying more attention to the audio. Splatoon has some very good audio design and it will tell you a lot about where people are. It helps you know if there's an enemy, if your team is around with you, what weapon they're using, if they're using a bomb or special, if they're swimming even. It might sound obvious but the ink on the ground is also a good summary of the current state of the game, your own color is going to be safer, but also watch for where the ink is moving, it will let you know if someone there and even an estimate on what weapon they're using if you become familiar with spray patterns
Of course Ganker of all people would recommend playing SR, but while some things to transfer between SR and PVP, playing SR is primarily only going to make you better at playing fricking SR. Play more PVP, try practicing with more basic weapons like a shooter, and if you want then watch some higher level gameplay or guides, a guide on squid rolling locations in particular would be good. These things provide some rough ideas for you to eventually develop and incorporate into your gameplay over time.

Humpback Pump Track is a fun stage, but Wahoo World made me want to go back to Side order until the stages changed. Crossing the choke point at the center becomes impossible once the other team gets a hold.

I'm not so sure they're going to do anything drastic if these weapon kits are anything to go by. They are afraid of making overpowered kits like the ones they put in base game. They've only put crab on ONE weapon since launch, being the stamper but they made sure to give it a harmless sub to balance it out.
I don't think there's going to be any major ability changes. Even the balance changes are very, very light and they seem reluctant to tweak things in a big way.

Majority of the new weapons added have been undertuned, not overpowered. Stringers as a class have been lagging behind the other weapons as well. Seems unlikely that it's strong out the gate.
