All of the non-japanese regions combined make up less than half of the people who play the game in japan. We are a drop in the bucket comparatively. It’s Japan that’s propping up this series with insane profits for little effort.

If they didn't show it they probably didn't have enough ready to show. We barely got a teaser back in February, development may be going slower than we realize. Side Order might not even come this year. If it does it will be in the winter.

But they've done a video like that for all the splatfests. The only difference was that this one coincided with a bigger direct instead of a smaller one or a standalone video.
The big issue is that these Splatfests, when they're not something akin to being centered around something such as the Zelda stuff (yeah, that Tri-Color stage ate 100,000 buckets of cowshit, but it was still neat imo), it always ends up being fricking moronic and desperately bottom-of-the-barrel and the devs shot themselves in the foot big-time with this theme.

This Splatfest is nothing special but weve had way stupider themes before. The 4 part Ninja Turtles tourney in 2, roller coasters vs THE waterslides?? Even Gear vs Grub vs fun was one of the dumbest fricking splatfests ever. Ice cream flavors at least make more sense than some of the dumbshit theyve done before, but yes it’s extremely safe of a concept. A minor disappointment but its not the end of the world. If they did some epic Mario shillfest Splatoon 3 would still be in a rough state and would just attract normies for one weekend like all the other splatfests.
Themed big splatfests are fun. But Splatfests being about totally inane and silly shit was always the charm of Splatfests. For the longest time that was all they were. And they should continue to be that. Even if the occasional special splatfest every now and then could be fun in-between.

Is Special Power Up, Ninja + Ink Saver Main, and Special Charge Up good abilities? I main Squeezer and Splash and I was trying to use up all of my ink resistance chunks on my amiibo gear and I rerolled my headgear and got all special power up so I guess I'm using that now
Depends on the weapon. Ninja squid takes a big chunk out of swim speed and also got nerfed a little bit
I feel like Ink Saver is good for squeezer and the other two are good for the Splash which are the two weapons I play the most
You could exchange ink saver main for last ditch effort which will give you good ink buffs in ranked mode. Could put some ink saver subs on there too. Splash would benefit from the Last Ditch Effort more than it would the Ink Saver Main

S+14 seems like an appropriate place to encounter them, given S+ is the threshold for X-battles. Not in S rank, where I am now.
During a rank up battle it throws you in with the rank above yours, in this case S+. You've just been getting unlucky, don't get discouraged
No, you don't understand. My rank up battle was from A+ to S where I started encountering silver X-battle badges, because I deranked since I was at the S to S+ rank up battle and S+ isn't fun to me. Now I'm solidly in S and still encountering the fricks.
Then you're playing with high level S+ rankers who deranked at the start of the season, tough luck. I'm sitting at about S 750, 250 away from a rank up and I can't really remember if I ran into an silver X rankers, but I don't think so. You've been unlucky as I said.

I know people automatically derank at the end of each season (fricking dumb), but the amount of X-battlers that don't reach S+10 to maintain their S+ rank at the end of each season is mind boggling. This whole matchmaking system is stupid as hell.
S+14 anon here. I don't blame those people at all. It's really unfortunate that people get stuck with very strong players in S ranks, but grinding to S+10 just to get back into X is much longer than getting through S rank. After I get S+50 I probably won't bother going higher than S+0 again.

It's a stupid system. The grind from S+0 to S+10 can take a while and some people would rather just play X battles and quickly do the grind from S to S+ (which is faster on paper). I don't think people should be forced to derank at all personally, at least not tied to seasons. I never do the S+10 climb, rank back up to S+ every time. I'm not a silver X ranker or whatever but I imagine many X players would rather save their energy for X mode especially if they're trying to break top 100 or whatever
it should really be s+1 to stay in s+, I doubt anyone who not only gets into s+0 but then grinds up to +1 doesn't deserve to be there anyway

Off topic, anyone use Heavy Deco and like it? I'm really not feeling Kraken, especially after realizing how good Wave Breaker actually is.
Heavy Deco is kino. Having an option that allows you to go more aggressive is good, but you have to be careful in how you retreat once the special is done. Plan your exit accordingly or go balls to the wall and frick as much shit up knowing you die if you don't kill everyone around you. It's one of the best kits added this season imo. Point sensor works on it because Splatlings can charge after throwing one and then unleash. You don't want someone sneaking up on you when you're that slow to move, it's good to keep people marked.

The weapons are mostly fine thanks to Sploosh. Long range weapons would be nice, but the most effective way to take out the troublesome stinger and big shot spawns is a high dps weapon which we have with the Sploosh.
The best way to take out Stingers is with a Blaster.
It's great, but range blaster in particular is not amazing at clearing lessers
You have a Sploosh and Big Swig on the job, lessers should not be a concern.
RBP is literally THE Stinger killer. It has so much range it can delete them in seconds without clearing trash advancing from the piers.
I don't know what you guys are b***hing about, the Pro is the only bad weapon in the mix.

Yeah. It's got good matchups against most enemies and notably Smallfry (for a shooter) but the ink inefficiency hampers it. It's a decent weapon, basically a worse 96.

I'm in. Always been a strong advocate of the 'booz, got to S+ with it on the first season and a 4 star badge for it. I think it's good in Salmon Run and most people just don't know how to use the weapon.
Aside from scoped variants i’ve managed to 4-star all the sniper weapons. I am a certefied sniper aficionado
Don’t get me wrong, it clicked for me one day and since then it’s easily one of my strongest weapons, but imo don’t see it as that strong in SR. If you got tips do share
Good ink efficiency, considered a light weapon so good speed and fast ink recharge (very important in Salmon Run). You can just tap stingers to death (does it require a full charge or not? don't remember). Either way you can take them out quick and from range. You can also tap fish sticks without even climbing them, which is useful. 2 charge shots to take out a steelhead I believe. It's good for killing steelheads as well as you can keep your distance from them. It's the most mobile sniper in a lot of ways.
For trash you should be using charged shots. Charge shots are very ink efficient however and you can really clean up an entire area if your aim is good enough.
Now in SR I would say both E-Liter and now after the buffs Snipewriter are better, but bamboozler is far more formidable than people give it credit for and is a little more flexible than some of those slower snipers.

The devs disagree with you as Salmon Run weapons unironically got more buffs than the PVP weapons in the recent patch.
We've also got Big Run, and Eggstra Work, two new modes added that are Salmon Run only. King Salmonids, more boss Salmonids.

This glorified side mode is getting a lot more love than the other parts of the game, not to mention better designed stages in general.

If you look at all of the balance patches we've got so far there's been very little in the way of actual weapon buffs. There have been more nerfs to certain weapons than buffs. The buffs we do get are very minor things that have hardly affected the weapons whatsoever. We've got entire classes that are lagging behind like blasters and brellas with no fricking love unless you consider bugfixes buffs. At what point are you going to realize that these devs don't know what the frick they're doing? We're still not in the clear, they could frick up the balance just like they did for 2. I don't think they've learned their lesson.
And let us not forget that we are getting less weapon kits at this point and time than we got in 2. Half of the weapons in the game don't even have a fricking alternate kit!
I'm honestly surprised Ranked didn't get a new permanent Game Mode by now. Even the new Challenge Mode is really inconsistent.

ethernet adaptor really shouldn't matter that much, I got one for like $14 bucks a few years ago and it worked fine. Have an OLED dock now so it's built in to it but I didn't have problems before that. Just look into a list of compatible/recommended ones if you're that worried about it

Bay Grillers usually fails for one of two reasons:
>morons trying to use the overfishing strat instead of the much more consistent middle platform
>the weapons actually good at killing Smallfry aren't doing that, so DPS can't be kept up on the grillers

I only said “overfishing” because it’s “optimal”. Lure them in circles around the basket and kill them there so the eggs and be put right in.

I’ve always found the best strategy to be getting the person who’s being followed to use the area right in front of the basket. By jumping on and off there, you can easily manipulate the grilled into the same general area to make its tail an easy target. Then it’s simply a matter of having one person in charge of smallfry, usually a roller. Problem being fricking no one does it in 3. Even the guys I usually trust with my life here are doing something else.
Seriously, guys, is that what you’re going for? Just leading it around the basket? It feels so goddamn risky, especially with this load out. Sploosh can’t even reach with that strat, and it has the best damage this shift. Am I just the idiot here? Am I getting it all wrong?
We were doing great last night, but that was mostly luck. Lots and lots of low tide, including cannons and tornado waves. Figured it was going to be less lucky tonight, but I was not prepared for the shitshow.

Anyone hit S+50 before? I'm starting to really struggle at this point and I'm not sure if this is just an off day or if players are just genuinely much better at this rank.
Why would I want to play series when there's X?
Because then it would say your all-time best is S+50 and that's a cool achievement. I'd only play X after reaching it though so I don't blame you.
I kinda figured most of the best players were too busy trying to reach 3,000 X-power to bother with the S+50 grind. I probably haven't hit the wall yet because I'm still going positive but progress has definitely slowed. Damn, I really want to get there. I'm still not even close.
While yes the absolute top grind out X along with the majority of others, a good amount do stick with anarchy weather to avoid worrying about X power or another reason, so you’re still dealing with top players regardless. Plus up in S+ you don’t play with just other S+ players but people around the same placement, so the higher you climb the tougher the opponents.
If you’re beginning to slow down then you’re nearing your wall. Don’t stress too much, you got ‘till September before the next season, and if losses are coming too frequently try again later refreshed a bit

Yea, getting up to S+50 puts you up to the very top of the top. Very few even get close before hitting a wall where players are too good to get consistent enough wins to hit S+50
