It is a bit weird how the matchmaking is divvied up between so many modes. Still, anarchy is the most honest one as it's solo queue, and not dead like X rank is if you're in the western division. Also X is only available to those in S+, so if they removed series all there would be is open.
I have a lot more problems with open as it's supposed to be the casual mode, yet that's where all the discord teams gather. Instead of reintroducing league like they said they would, they gave us...challenges, which is moronic. So open is fricked. X battles are dead unless you're in the jap division.
As for why they force us to play series at all, they probably don't want the matchmaking to turn into a ghost town like X battles currently are, but they probably should have just morphed S+10 anarchy into X battles, rather than creating an entirely separate queue. Whole seasonal ranking system is also moronic, Splat 2 was more reasonable.
League is ostensibly just open but playing with groups. When they added challenges with the whole points and rank thing they did the same for playing open with groups, it’s just not upfront. So while league isn’t in, playing anarchy open is no different

The whole point is open should not be the sweaty discord team mode. Challenges are only available 2 hours at a time, it's not a suitable replacement for league. So instead they just turned open into league battles, which is moronic
Ngl I don’t have much issue with open, it lets you play ranked but you don’t have to worry too much about your rank and play with others as well. Yea the whole discord sweats do turn casual play into stomps but that’s just an unfortunate by-product, and it’s not like discord teams are the only people you fight, they’re not all that common. My solution would be to just queue teams against teams in the matchmaking

The matchmaking in Anarchy Battles is horrendous. Constantly puts both long range weapons on one team against all short range. Makes absolutely no sense. Players choose to play Splatoon 3 over thousands of other games, yet constantly get their time wasted. Very frustrating.

I made the mistake of continuing to play through a bad streak and dropped down to Profresh + 3. I always tell myself I won't but I want to keep playing, even if it means gambling with the ability to continue to have fun. I always think "surely, I can just carry my way back, I've done it many times before!" Well.
Results are predictable. Two Wave 1 losses back to back. First was Low Tide on Marooner's Bay, and you guessed it, all three other teammates immediately charged to the furthest edge of the sands and while I'm taking out a fish stick, oh look the One Player Remaining alarm goes off! Go to start saving everyone, and the whole basket area turns to salmon oil. Alarm goes off again.Scratch 1.
Next round, piles and piles of eggs at the furthest dock. 20 seconds remaining on the clock, only me and one other player are actually at the basket, the rest are still killing bosses on the beach, round ends, 18/23.
That leaves me at Profresh +3 0. Why would I even want to risk more shore chargers costing me my own joy, than simply wait? Two bad teams means you drop to risking rank in less than ten minutes of playtime.
Everyone says "just carry lol" but there's only so much that can be carried. If you don't have to be in the worst possible spot, don't be, and if there's 30 on the clock and we're not at quota, get back to hold the basket, please!

I can play literally every other online game just fine without issues but this game's system is 20 years behind and it's frustrating losing a wave because you get killed by a chum and you can't do anything but watch as your team fails to kill the mothership as it takes all the golden eggs and puts us under quota
Sometimes it can happen even if your internet isn't fricking up. Say the host of the game (which is chosen at random at the start of the match) disconnects, that can cause severe disruptions on everyone else's end as it finds a new host
Black person the game has been P2P since Wii U. In fact p2p hosting is still pretty fricking common these days for online games. Nintendo does not use dedicated servers for except for the matchmaking. Although they do have dedicated servers for F-Zero 99 apparently

Least we eventually killed it, and got a silver. I was gonna quit whether or not we got a boss fight that right, I was seriously not having fun. A person can only stomach single-handedly getting most of the stingers and flyfish themselves before quitting. We only get two fricking victories that whole session. The matchmaking in Anarchy Battles is horrendous. Constantly puts both long range weapons on one team against all short range. Makes absolutely no sense. Players choose to play Splatoon 3 over thousands of other games, yet constantly get their time wasted. Very frustrating.

I always tell myself I won't but I want to keep playing, even if it means gambling with the ability to continue to have fun. I always think "surely, I can just carry my way back, I've done it many times before!" Well.
Results are predictable. Two Wave 1 losses back to back. First was Low Tide on Marooner's Bay, and you guessed it, all three other teammates immediately charged to the furthest edge of the sands and while I'm taking out a fish stick, oh look the One Player Remaining alarm goes off! Go to start saving everyone, and the whole basket area turns to salmon oil. Alarm goes off again.Scratch 1.
Next round, piles and piles of eggs at the furthest dock. 20 seconds remaining on the clock, only me and one other player are actually at the basket, the rest are still killing bosses on the beach, round ends, 18/23.
That leaves me at Profresh +3 0. Why would I even want to risk more shore chargers costing me my own joy, than simply wait? Two bad teams means you drop to risking rank in less than ten minutes of playtime.
Everyone says "just carry lol" but there's only so much that can be carried. If you don't have to be in the worst possible spot, don't be, and if there's 30 on the clock and we're not at quota, get back to hold the basket, please!

Least we eventually killed it, and got a silver. I was gonna quit whether or not we got a boss fight that right, I was seriously not having fun. A person can only stomach single-handedly getting most of the stingers and flyfish themselves before quitting. We only get two fricking victories that whole session. museum was not one of them, the side route doing very heavy lifting in making the map actually not feel as lockout heavy as something like hammerhead. losing the other side route in every non-clams mode was a moronic decision
so yes, in a rotation with museum and hammerhead, i'd choose to play every single match in museum in a heartbeat
