Almost feel obligated to use the pirate one since I was on Team Pirate for Splatoon 1. But damn, it sucks they didn't bring back the original Halloween costumes. Jason was great, jiang-shi is always quality, and devil veemo is the cutest thing ever. Still, considering all we're getting it's not possible to stay mad. Halloween is so great.

It's a team effort. It can be smooth and easy with the right persons or become a shitfest really fast. Some of the weapons are a bit technical to use, I saw someone using the S-Blast without jumping and not knowing how to use the explosher for mudmouth. The worst is the Jr. not painting enough and the glowflies are pretty hard

Let's be real, the biggest obstacle is probably myself. Hell, compared to how it usually goes, my second try was pretty damn good. Lots of mudmouth waves, mostly success on low tides, brutal but entertaining high tides. Helps that I got teammates that know what to do. Though it does make me a bit sad because the first try was with someone I really like playing with. But even between us two, it didn't go very well. Still, sort of worked out in the end. I think I murdered like 30 steelheads with S-Blast and probably 20 maws or something.

The funny part is when it first debuted on Jammin Salmon, I developed something of a vendetta against it because I felt the most vulnerable with it in that specific loadout. Not that it felt bad, but with how crazy shit got on that first shift, I was getting my shit slapped constantly. And now the tide turns, and it's probably the best part of the current loadout. Fancy that. Really, my only beef with it right now is not being able to shoot far while jumping. Small price to pay.

I actually find it way less scary. You can use it to clear yourself a path before trying it, and no need to charge up beforehand.

We all have our off days, just how it goes. Though smokeyard has proven to be very, very lethal in comparison to the other maps so a bit more help on that end would be appreciated.

S Blast is top tier at pretty much everything you'd want it to do except it is one of the absolute worst floor painters in the game. Thankfully the Jr is in the rotation to handle that job (if you're playing with people with functioning neurons anyway)
Funnily enough, it's not too bad at dealing with flip floppers. A few well-aimed jump shots can fill that thing as long as you aren't preoccupied with other shit.

Not a bad point. I've gotten so many kills on steelheads through crowds or just by being sneaky about it. S-Blast isn't really a sneaky weapon, though.
I had a dream tonight that the appartment on the other side had a grand opening and it had some splatoon like style to it but I couldn't tell what it was.

Love me some explosher. Can use it to safely deal pretty much every single boss, and to support your team from a distance. Really, the only downside is not being able to defend yourself all too well. But I manage to make it work, being slippery as frick and exploshing my feet. Works better than you'd think for getaways. But I digress. Night.
I might be too aggressive and impatient for the explosher. I always get swarmed while using it that it causes trouble for my crew mates. I need more practice with it.

After you 100% the single player, there's a drone that you can gamble some of the SP currency and there's a chance he gives you MP money, but I think you need to be online for that to be an option.

That wave 1 earlier was pain for me. I had the explosher and I ended up being the only player alive with an empty ink tank because I was kiting since forever and had to consistently paint the floor of the base with it in order to survive
The two eels sandwiching us at the worst place possible and headbutting each other was the highlight of these games
EVP 600 is exactly the range that shitters start crab bucketing and cant get past that wall. In order to keep climbing you need most people to be competent from that point on, not tagging along for a free ride and doing moronic plays like booyah bomb in the last 5 seconds

Last night I played almost 20 games hovering in 580-630 range. Finally got past it and at 770, will play on stage rotation if anyone wants otherwise will probably just freelance.

Oh definitely, strong supporter of sleeping well and eating well everyday. Its just the few times I decided “what the hell” and played the game half asleep, I tanked my ranking a few hundred points out of stubbornness. Next day I get full nights sleep and earn all those points back, it makes the difference. Hard to play right when your mind is so foggy and reactions dulled

You can do it, but this rotation is more middling than it is good, on a “hard” level to boot so it wont be easy as Im sure youve found out by now. Just need the right team

It's been a love and hate relationship so far yeah. I had some very rough moments where I had to be the explosher painting bro because the Jr. was just never around the basket. I don't dislike the map though, it's way better than marooner's. Not that much space on high tide, especially glowflies but you can play a lot with the ledges
Funny thing is I only started played SR seriously at the last Big Run but I improved a lot just by watching anons plays and I can hold my own now. I just have to keep learning and never stop

Why is this rotation so much harder than the last? I got 600 evp easily without even trying to get to 999 on marooner’s, but the highest I can get now is 490
evp is kind of a mess now that I think of it. There's the players who stop playing when they're around 0 points and never improve. The ones who didn't get the notice for weapons like the explosher or S-blast and I think the previous ranks don't prepare you too well for what's next. Everyone is back to 40 at each rotation but there's a crazy difference between the shittiest workers and the bests.

I don't think there's something wrong with going back to proshitter territory if needed. They should be more worried about dragging their team down than losing or to not be in the "hot" rank. But again, it's not 100% their fault, the game do a poor job matching players with the same skill level at low evp. S+ anarchy have the same problem

Explosher >Most vulnerable weapon of the rotation >Obviously should try to kill flyfish, use the propeller platform to get to the other side safely. Can kill many of the stingers/flyfish from the ledges of the basket area >Can help deal with trash, but has to sort of aim at the "feet" of enemies >Other weapons should try and protect it if they see it struggling/cornered. help clear a path for it so it can deal with things
S-Blast >Strongest weapon of the rotation >Can do pretty much whatever you need it to do: kill steelheads, kill trash, kill steel eels, scrappers, etc. Can also kill stingers well. >Short range (jump) mode is what you want to use most of the time as it has the much bigger blast radius. Only use long range mode for distant enemies. >Should kill fish sticks by the basket by jumping directly under them and firing up. >This weapon needs to keep the basket area clean by constant jumping mode shots. It can clear trash very very well, keep jumping to stay mobile.
General tips >Just because there's explosher doesn't mean you should neglect flyfish >During glowflies you can hug the walls for wall cheese on the elevated platforms >Biggest issue so far I've had is we just can't keep control of trash. Everything needs to focus on killing as much as they can, but it's difficult with the low damage output
yeah and honestly explosher should be the only person on those to not get the propeller game fricked up from others since you can easily hop onto the other platform with a splash of ink between them on that platform

Impossible smokeyard is best map. This loadout isn't very fun though because you have to play it a certain way or else you fail. S blaster is my least favorite weapon which sucks because 2 shooters and explosher would be great with literally any other 4th weapon

Drizzlers are fricking awful, it's too easy fall into a false sense of security since they aren't immediately threatening and people think they can just knock their torpedoes down all the time with no interruptions.
When I did my first max hazard wave ever, there was 3 stringers very far at the shore so I used my special which was inkstrike to get rid of them but they got replaced by three other stingers instantly. Turns out my first game was the most bullshit one I ever had.

This patch could have been a bit more heavy handed, but I think this more reserved patch style has earned some respect/trust. I think it has consistently moved the meta in the right direction, and is reacted to new problems that crop up. The tenta nerf is a very nice surprise too. Makes them way less annoying while keeping their main displacement utility

those are for the season updates where it drops a day earlier, and even then the actual balance changes to weapons are applied immediately rather than on the season start
Lots of buffs to weapons they haven't touched in ages might not matter much but it makes me glad they didn't forget they exist
Wish they did more to Trizooka.
Nzap 85 and vShot should have gotten PPS nerfs and Aerospray shouldn't have gotten the buff.
I wonder if the devs know how well shooters actually turf because they refuse to touch good turfing weapons but continue to give random PPS nerfs to weaker turfing weapons.
Zooka will likely get further nerfs in a later update, it took them like three tries to get Crab into an acceptable place too

It's a team effort. It can be smooth and easy with the right persons or become a shitfest really fast. Some of the weapons are a bit technical to use, I saw someone using the S-Blast without jumping and not knowing how to use the explosher for mudmouth. The worst is the Jr. not painting enough and the glowflies are pretty hard

Let's be real, the biggest obstacle is probably myself. Hell, compared to how it usually goes, my second try was pretty damn good. Lots of mudmouth waves, mostly success on low tides, brutal but entertaining high tides. Helps that I got teammates that know what to do. Though it does make me a bit sad because the first try was with someone I really like playing with. But even between us two, it didn't go very well. Still, sort of worked out in the end. I think I murdered like 30 steelheads with S-Blast and probably 20 maws or something.

The funny part is when it first debuted on Jammin Salmon, I developed something of a vendetta against it because I felt the most vulnerable with it in that specific loadout. Not that it felt bad, but with how crazy shit got on that first shift, I was getting my shit slapped constantly. And now the tide turns, and it's probably the best part of the current loadout. Fancy that. Really, my only beef with it right now is not being able to shoot far while jumping. Small price to pay.
I actually find it way less scary. You can use it to clear yourself a path before trying it, and no need to charge up beforehand.
I always liked it. It became my second favorite blaster (first being Clash Blaster) for SR.
Chargers are easier for me since I like aiming at the bomb and not having to worry about lessers blocking the way or think about the travel speed of the shot. A charger can just swim in range to fire a shot and peace out.
The S-blast took a bit for me to get used to, too. But knowing how to use its high damage feels great. Sometimes a weapon you hate can be good if you commit to learning it. reeflux dislikers take notes

S Blast is top tier at pretty much everything you'd want it to do except it is one of the absolute worst floor painters in the game. Thankfully the Jr is in the rotation to handle that job (if you're playing with people with functioning neurons anyway)
Funnily enough, it's not too bad at dealing with flip floppers. A few well-aimed jump shots can fill that thing as long as you aren't preoccupied with other shit.
Took a bit for me to get over myself, but it is a very strong contender and great for the mode. Just gotta make sure to time yourself, like with dynamo.

After you 100% the single player, there's a drone that you can gamble some of the SP currency and there's a chance he gives you MP money, but I think you need to be online for that to be an option.

That wave 1 earlier was pain for me. I had the explosher and I ended up being the only player alive with an empty ink tank because I was kiting since forever and had to consistently paint the floor of the base with it in order to survive
The two eels sandwiching us at the worst place possible and headbutting each other was the highlight of these games
vp600 and people are still doing last 5 second specials at wave 3
EVP 600 is exactly the range that shitters start crab bucketing and cant get past that wall. In order to keep climbing you need most people to be competent from that point on, not tagging along for a free ride and doing moronic plays like booyah bomb in the last 5 seconds

Its just the few times I decided “what the hell” and played the game half asleep, I tanked my ranking a few hundred points out of stubbornness. Next day I get full nights sleep and earn all those points back, it makes the difference. Hard to play right when your mind is so foggy and reactions dulled

I don't dislike the map though, it's way better than marooner's. Not that much space on high tide, especially glowflies but you can play a lot with the ledges

evp is kind of a mess now that I think of it. There's the players who stop playing when they're around 0 points and never improve. The ones who didn't get the notice for weapons like the explosher or S-blast and I think the previous ranks don't prepare you too well for what's next. Everyone is back to 40 at each rotation but there's a crazy difference between the shittiest workers and the bests.

>Needs to take care of flyfish around the basket. Obviously no need to climb it, just kill it from the ground
>Needs to take care of stingers, generally you don't even have to jump off the platform, can kill them from most of the basket ledges
>Needs to kill steelheads
>Help damage cohocks from a distance
Explosher
>Most vulnerable weapon of the rotation
>Obviously should try to kill flyfish, use the propeller platform to get to the other side safely. Can kill many of the stingers/flyfish from the ledges of the basket area
>Can help deal with trash, but has to sort of aim at the "feet" of enemies
>Other weapons should try and protect it if they see it struggling/cornered. help clear a path for it so it can deal with things
S-Blast
>Strongest weapon of the rotation
>Can do pretty much whatever you need it to do: kill steelheads, kill trash, kill steel eels, scrappers, etc. Can also kill stingers well.
>Short range (jump) mode is what you want to use most of the time as it has the much bigger blast radius. Only use long range mode for distant enemies.
>Should kill fish sticks by the basket by jumping directly under them and firing up.
>This weapon needs to keep the basket area clean by constant jumping mode shots. It can clear trash very very well, keep jumping to stay mobile.
General tips
>Just because there's explosher doesn't mean you should neglect flyfish
>During glowflies you can hug the walls for wall cheese on the elevated platforms

I've made that mistake stupidly a few times this rotation. Use the propellers, it's much easier to get to and fro that way safely.
yeah and honestly explosher should be the only person on those to not get the propeller game fricked up from others since you can easily hop onto the other platform with a splash of ink between them on that platform
agreed. the trash is the hardest part of this because of the two choice weapons helping with boss kills but ink hungry and vulnerable(jet/xplosher)

Impossible smokeyard is best map. This loadout isn't very fun though because you have to play it a certain way or else you fail. S blaster is my least favorite weapon which sucks because 2 shooters and explosher would be great with literally any other 4th weapon

Drizzlers are fricking awful, it's too easy fall into a false sense of security since they aren't immediately threatening and people think they can just knock their torpedoes down all the time with no interruptions.
When I did my first max hazard wave ever, there was 3 stringers very far at the shore so I used my special which was inkstrike to get rid of them but they got replaced by three other stingers instantly. Turns out my first game was the most bullshit one I ever had.

At maximum range in this game shots do less damage than from closer range, they're reducing the damage penalty for longer range shots.

Dropoff is when the further a weapon is fired from, the less damage it does. A roller a point-blank kills instantly, but cause of dropoff at further distances it does less damage
The dropoff change means that the damage penalty from further distances is less. Base damage is still the same, but that dropoff damage is now less
Less damage falloff when shooting from max range
The damage drop off was made to be more gradual, so it will be less
It’s a general tweaking to how that mechanic functions with gloogas and a few other weapons, but it’s a passive buff, as in the drop-off won’t be as big as it usually is
So when can we expect patch notes? Need to know what we’re gonna be getting into tomorrow

It's roughly mid-season and it wouldn't make sense to drop the Mahi Mahi rework separate from the patch
Calling in now they're also gonna patch in the Deep Cut amiibo gear and use the Sheldon Dress-Up Showdown as a way to tease it, since it gives you a random weapon and a random assortment of amiibo gear

This patch could have been a bit more heavy handed, but I think this more reserved patch style has earned some respect/trust. I think it has consistently moved the meta in the right direction, and is reacted to new problems that crop up. The tenta nerf is a very nice surprise too. Makes them way less annoying while keeping their main displacement utility

Nzap 85 and vShot should have gotten PPS nerfs and Aerospray shouldn't have gotten the buff.
I wonder if the devs know how well shooters actually turf because they refuse to touch good turfing weapons but continue to give random PPS nerfs to weaker turfing weapons.
