Inklings/Octolings are the dominant species and the player characters, they’re kinda the only species that matters. Salmonids have literally nothing else to them but being an enemy force in salmon run and people don’t care about them outside of abject hatred. Jellies only exist as npc’s and there’s only 1-2 examples of other species, and most of those only exist in the bands
They only care about cephalopods because they’re the only species that might as well exist and should be the only one that exist
I like the Salmonids, but most of the other species only have one or two representatives so there's not really much to work with without delving into the realm of OCs.
I didn't cared about them, later on i learned that there's was versions of the game modes like rainmaker to non-cephs, i ended up doing some oc homosexualry and made an anemone character. I should draw him more in the future hmmmm

Explo/Hydra/Jet I don't think I ever brought it up before, unless I forgot. I honestly want to blame it on horrifically unlucky matchmaking at this point. I'm always 1st and 2nd place on the kill board, but at least two people on my team get something absurdly bad like K2 D10. I've also gotten an abnormal amount of halfway-in throwers. Meanwhile the opposite team is completely cracked, way way more than what I ever get on my side, and I find myself in backline completely unable to do anything. It's either spend the whole time moving from A to B constantly getting nothing done or crapshooting and risking the team throwing out of anger. I will confess I struggle with E-liters (hard to counter when frontline is struggling) and Triple Splashdown being an eyesore. I really don't know what to do at this point because during series I've been getting lots of 5 streaks but then rank-up is like this.
Ah, there was a Hydra a while back who was having a similar problem. He shared replay codes and people in the thread gave him pointers. Trying to 'hard carry' has backline can be a bit tough, but basically you're going to need to carry the objective harder than you have been. Easier said than done, especially if you do get unlucky with matchmaking. Can always share some replays and Im sure some anons would look it over and point out any glaring mistakes you're making

It's pretty chill for me in the 600 range today, didn't fail a single shift, but I'm just doing a king once in a while since I'm grinding my Frosty Fest gear.
I cant play Heavy or Hydra. Mini charges so quick, and Naut/Ballpoint allow you to hold and recharge mid fire, which makes engaging so much more comfortable. How do I get over this? Because Heavy Deco looks fun to play.
Hydra is probably the easiest splatling, I have no idea how you struggle with that one but are able to perform well with Ballpoint. Been months since I actually played the Heavy, so I can't really say too much. Don't play it too much like a backliner, try to keep up pressure without overextending too much.
I just never like being caught without some semblance of a charge and my aim isnt the strongest, so its super easy to ambush me, and I am at my worst with the splatlings that demand charging right before attacking.
Sorry for the late reply. Being ambushed will always be an annoying situation, especially as Hydra. Best you can do is trying to position yourself in a way it's hard to just run straight towards you while also trying to maintain turf control. Do remember that fully charging the Hydra turns it into a 3-hit kill. Regarding the Heavy, the only advice I could give right now is that a partial charge will always be enough to kill your opponent.
Do you calculate the charge you ahould hold for when turning corners, getting to mid, or camping in a vantage point before firing,, or do you just try to hold as much as possible and either ditch the unused charge or paint with it if you arent aiming to kill someone?

Hydra does 32.0 damage partially charged, 40.0 damage fully charged. I always try to fully charge it whenever possible, the only times I use partial charge is whenever I'm barely away from special or when I'm actually being ambushed. Calculating charge is really not needed, just play these weapons until you get a feel for it.
Rollers are my favorite class. I love high risk high reward kills based on my placement. Its like the other side of the one shot coin to chargers, but those need accuracy over placement.
I love to play Dynamo despite its flaws, its powerful short and long range at the cost of attack speed. Splat Roller is also fun, and I seem to like the Big Swig alot despite how weak it is. I think I just like reliable range. I respect Carbon Roller because that seems like the opposite extreme of Roller where range is much less emphisized over CQC sharking and instakilling. I should play more carbon deco.
Tenacity is good though. It's hard to judge because you can't easily tell when it's helping, but if you run it with some saver you'll actually get specials more often.

Not killing things at high hazard level is really, really bad.
If I have an absurdly high power egg count and a lower gold count it’s because nobody was killing fricking anything and got tunnel vision on eggs. Since they’re going to deposit eggs and dodge every enemy no matter what, im forced to kill everything. If they just did their part we would have very comparable golden egg/power egg scores.
If you’re in a room of good players they’re all going to have high power eggs without a doubt. Most of your egg deposits are going to be at the end of the wave when bosses start spawning and youve cleaned up all the trash. Basically you have to kill (and not die, very important) in order to deposit the eggs in the first place. Boss kills are important as well.
What morons fail to realize is a lot of the reason they’re failing quota is because they’re not killing shit and are getting so overrun that they’re constantly dead or unable to even deliver the eggs in the first place. If everyone just killed a little bit more, you’re not gonna be missing quota because it will be piss easy to deliver the eggs after everything is dead. You let all the bosses and trash roam free? You’re gonna miss quota. Kill more shit, period.
Nah, he’s a good player. Anyone who cries about low gold egg count unironically need to stay in profreshional because you dont know how to play the fricking game. Stop dodging chum and kill the fricking trash. The only reason you’re able to deposit eggs is because better players took out all the threats for you. Anyone can be an egg jockey, it’s the easiest fricking task in the game. But to actually be good at Salmon Run you have to take out the actual threats constantly. Once you do that, depositing the eggs is the easy part. If there is any stat that is entirely useless it’s golden egg counts. If anything it’s a red flag if your gold egg count is high but your power egg count is half of all the players. That means you’re being carried.

Yeah, like if you get a cannon wave, of course the cannon guy isnt going to be depositing eggs. And if you get a tornado some gay inflating his score by being the one who deposits all the eggs at the end isnt some master egg jockey.
I think for the most part scores can be neglected, but if you’re in a room of equally skilled grizzGODs, I come to find they all have very comparable power egg/golden egg counts i.e. 20-30+ gold eggs, 1000+ power eggs, usually not more than 1-2 deaths if that, and comparable boss kills. Of course it fluctuates, players need to be flexible and know when they should be jannying or jockeying but ideally you’re doing a mixture of both in tandem.
Still, if I had to pick between the two extremes to have on my team I’ll take a chum janny over an egg jockey any day because an egg jockey just tends to do the easy part while neglecting the real threats, and they cant do their job when we get overrun which is often because they dont kill anything.

I don't even care about that ratio. I only make sure I kill bosses, ink paths and deliver eggs.
The worst case scenario is I have to go out to shore to kill stingers or flyfricks and my team doesn't bother inking in my stead
The real answer is that it doesn’t matter because you need to be flexible as the situation demands. Sometimes you have to be chum janny, other times you’ll have to throw in all the eggs while your team has an orgy at the big shot cannon.
I know there are bosses who stay near the shore (like Stingers and Big Shots) and to kill them you have no choice but to go there, but if you're killing Scrappers or Maws or Steelheads or any other "movable" Boss Salmonid near the shore, you are actively working against your team.
At higher Hazard Levels you have to constantly kill enemies to not get overwhelmed, so you can't spend too much time collecting eggs. If most golden eggs drop far from the basket your team won't have enough time to bring them to the basket and you will lose, even if all four of you are good enough at killing salmonids and keeping the map safe. Time is your biggest enemy now
That’s more luring than it is jockeying, and luring is generally good so long as you dont just stand by the basket spamming this way with nothing to do while everyone struggles to take out the 10 statics that just spawned

It's pretty chill for me in the 600 range today, didn't fail a single shift, but I'm just doing a king once in a while since I'm grinding my Frosty Fest gear.
I cant play Heavy or Hydra. Mini charges so quick, and Naut/Ballpoint allow you to hold and recharge mid fire, which makes engaging so much more comfortable. How do I get over this? Because Heavy Deco looks fun to play.
Realizing you don't need a full charge to kill everything.
Hydra is probably the easiest splatling, I have no idea how you struggle with that one but are able to perform well with Ballpoint. Been months since I actually played the Heavy, so I can't really say too much. Don't play it too much like a backliner, try to keep up pressure without overextending too much.
I just never like being caught without some semblance of a charge and my aim isnt the strongest, so its super easy to ambush me, and I am at my worst with the splatlings that demand charging right before attacking.
Sorry for the late reply. Being ambushed will always be an annoying situation, especially as Hydra. Best you can do is trying to position yourself in a way it's hard to just run straight towards you while also trying to maintain turf control. Do remember that fully charging the Hydra turns it into a 3-hit kill. Regarding the Heavy, the only advice I could give right now is that a partial charge will always be enough to kill your opponent.
Do you calculate the charge you ahould hold for when turning corners, getting to mid, or camping in a vantage point before firing,, or do you just try to hold as much as possible and either ditch the unused charge or paint with it if you arent aiming to kill someone?
Are you saying Hydra gets a stronger damsge per shot at full charge?
Hydra does 32.0 damage partially charged, 40.0 damage fully charged. I always try to fully charge it whenever possible, the only times I use partial charge is whenever I'm barely away from special or when I'm actually being ambushed. Calculating charge is really not needed, just play these weapons until you get a feel for it.

Rollers are my favorite class. I love high risk high reward kills based on my placement. Its like the other side of the one shot coin to chargers, but those need accuracy over placement.
I love to play Dynamo despite its flaws, its powerful short and long range at the cost of attack speed. Splat Roller is also fun, and I seem to like the Big Swig alot despite how weak it is. I think I just like reliable range. I respect Carbon Roller because that seems like the opposite extreme of Roller where range is much less emphisized over CQC sharking and instakilling. I should play more carbon deco.

Tenacity is good though. It's hard to judge because you can't easily tell when it's helping, but if you run it with some saver you'll actually get specials more often.

How much does a high power egg score make up for a weaker golden egg score?
If you aren’t losing to quota, you’re good.
Not killing things at high hazard level is really, really bad.
If I have an absurdly high power egg count and a lower gold count it’s because nobody was killing fricking anything and got tunnel vision on eggs. Since they’re going to deposit eggs and dodge every enemy no matter what, im forced to kill everything. If they just did their part we would have very comparable golden egg/power egg scores.
If you’re in a room of good players they’re all going to have high power eggs without a doubt. Most of your egg deposits are going to be at the end of the wave when bosses start spawning and youve cleaned up all the trash. Basically you have to kill (and not die, very important) in order to deposit the eggs in the first place. Boss kills are important as well.

What morons fail to realize is a lot of the reason they’re failing quota is because they’re not killing shit and are getting so overrun that they’re constantly dead or unable to even deliver the eggs in the first place. If everyone just killed a little bit more, you’re not gonna be missing quota because it will be piss easy to deliver the eggs after everything is dead. You let all the bosses and trash roam free? You’re gonna miss quota. Kill more shit, period.

Nah, he’s a good player. Anyone who cries about low gold egg count unironically need to stay in profreshional because you dont know how to play the fricking game. Stop dodging chum and kill the fricking trash. The only reason you’re able to deposit eggs is because better players took out all the threats for you. Anyone can be an egg jockey, it’s the easiest fricking task in the game. But to actually be good at Salmon Run you have to take out the actual threats constantly. Once you do that, depositing the eggs is the easy part. If there is any stat that is entirely useless it’s golden egg counts. If anything it’s a red flag if your gold egg count is high but your power egg count is half of all the players. That means you’re being carried.

Yeah, like if you get a cannon wave, of course the cannon guy isnt going to be depositing eggs. And if you get a tornado some gay inflating his score by being the one who deposits all the eggs at the end isnt some master egg jockey.
I think for the most part scores can be neglected, but if you’re in a room of equally skilled grizzGODs, I come to find they all have very comparable power egg/golden egg counts i.e. 20-30+ gold eggs, 1000+ power eggs, usually not more than 1-2 deaths if that, and comparable boss kills. Of course it fluctuates, players need to be flexible and know when they should be jannying or jockeying but ideally you’re doing a mixture of both in tandem.
Still, if I had to pick between the two extremes to have on my team I’ll take a chum janny over an egg jockey any day because an egg jockey just tends to do the easy part while neglecting the real threats, and they cant do their job when we get overrun which is often because they dont kill anything.

I know there are bosses who stay near the shore (like Stingers and Big Shots) and to kill them you have no choice but to go there, but if you're killing Scrappers or Maws or Steelheads or any other "movable" Boss Salmonid near the shore, you are actively working against your team.
At higher Hazard Levels you have to constantly kill enemies to not get overwhelmed, so you can't spend too much time collecting eggs. If most golden eggs drop far from the basket your team won't have enough time to bring them to the basket and you will lose, even if all four of you are good enough at killing salmonids and keeping the map safe. Time is your biggest enemy now
