It's a pretty new thing.
Every once in a while a challenge will happen where it's only playable for two hours at a time, in three time slots over the span of 24 hours. So each challenge is available 6 hours in total, pretty measly amount.
The challenges have different alterations that range from basic to pretty weird. In this upcoming challenge turf war battles will have fog in them as an example. In a previous challenge you could only use weapons with the Trizooka special and your special gauge would fill up super fast. Not much to be gained from challenges asides from an extra roll on the shell out machine + you can get a badge depending on how well you do. You have a sort of challenge ranking that goes up or down depending on if you win or lose.
Just have to start with a high challenge power get consistent enough wins to raise it up enough.
Only got an hour in for the random weapon challenge, started with 2100+, bumped it up to about 2250, and secured gold that way.

Skip 2 unless you want to pay half the price of the full game to play the DLC. The base game campaign is not worth buying the game for and there’s no reason to play 2’s pvp.

the last Sockeye Station rotation i grinded for like 12 hours straight in freelance to get to HLM, and got up to 800 EVP and 331% hazard level before I ran out of time

The Devs have said that they don't really put a lot of thought into the current map designs, but the original map designs had to be created by someone.

You should not be bothering with eggs most of the time with shore bosses, "static" bosses like Fly Fish and Stingers. Big shots only sometimes but it's very dangerous to hang by the cannon. Lessers spawn from the shores and that's why you don't want to hang around there ferrying eggs. Once you kill the statics, go back to the basket or help your teammates. Take one egg if you must, but leave it at that.

Don't pay 30,000 for the gashapon, just the daily 5,000.

Salmon Run can really frick you over with capsules though. I've had weeks where I just didn't get any gold capsules and I'd only have a handful of 5k capsules. It is 10/10 for chunks at least.

It should've been a whole week or something. A whole day at the very least. If they really, really want to make a competition out of it, then make brackets of two hours or whatever, but don't gate the entire mode this way.

inkgen has less but there are open rooms being made instead of only SR and the skill level is higher on average
It's up to five predetermined waves with set weapons and specials. Each wave you complete increases the Hazard Level for the next one and if you get more than double the required golden eggs you'll get an even higher increase of the HL. The goal is to get as many golden eggs as you can and the reward is a locker sticker.

You should not be bothering with eggs most of the time with shore bosses, "static" bosses like Fly Fish and Stingers. Big shots only sometimes but it's very dangerous to hang by the cannon. Lessers spawn from the shores and that's why you don't want to hang around there ferrying eggs. Once you kill the statics, go back to the basket or help your teammates. Take one egg if you must, but leave it at that.
Win or lose, I just want to bully the E-Liter main until they cry.

And why does it seem like nobody knows how to cannon wave? Two dudes in cannons, two dudes grabbing eggs and it's an easy fricking victory, assuming you're not trying to overfish or whatever. Your Shell Out Machine seed is fixed. You can check right now if you'll ever get a gold capsule or if it will take 2000 spins.
I prefer to remain blissfully unaware.
Salmon Run can really frick you over with capsules though. I've had weeks where I just didn't get any gold capsules and I'd only have a handful of 5k capsules. It is 10/10 for chunks at least.

I found salmon run to be the best money earner. Try and keep going until the prize payouts become a bit more sparse.
Make sure you've always got a drink from the lobby vendor. Vouchers become common enough that I pretty much permanently have a bonus for money but if you're still gaining levels then the xp might be better for getting more weapons.
Don't pay 30,000 for the gashapon, just the daily 5,000.

It's up to five predetermined waves with set weapons and specials. Each wave you complete increases the Hazard Level for the next one and if you get more than double the required golden eggs you'll get an even higher increase of the HL. The goal is to get as many golden eggs as you can and the reward is a locker sticker.
