I need an answer to the all-important question. The one we've all been waiting for. The one master code Nintendo hasn't cracked yet. How can the Angle Shooter be made good? More damage when you step into the tripwire? Longer reveal? More lenient aiming? Not being on the squelcher?
The tripwire actually does damage, something like 10 or 15.
Secondly the line drops to the ground and leaves a thin trail of paint when its duration expires. It will be thinner than a brush but still enough to prevent normal movement.

Tripwire does damage.
Direct hit from the angle shooter gives location for longer than the point sensor, while just touching the wire gives a shorter duration instead.
Tripwire does damage (probably 15-25), make it aim at your reticule properly and make the sensor last longer on direct hit

I've put 900 hours into it. Think I put something like 400 into Splat 1 and 250ish into Splat 2. No idea why I've played 3 so much but I think it's playing with the pool is more fun than playing with randos. The game just *feels* good to play though, I dont know.
I did that with the first game. Didn't really get into it until Splatoon 2 and now I can't stop playing. Not sure why it but happened but you'll get hooked eventually.
I've barely played it since January. The shitty maps burned me out plus the realization that I was getting burned out due to basically the same gameplay since S1 had me take an extended break. I haven't even gotten to rank 10 on this season's catalog.
The meat grinder maps and boring splatfests is what got me to stop playing and paying for Nintendo online before the Zelda splatfest. If they fix the maps to be less AIDS then I would be inclined to play again but they are pretty painful and matches seem like a one way curbstomp most of the time. The same issues with modern TF2 which is funny.
I personally have other games to play from my backlog, so far I think I clocked in a good 400 hours, but I guess I'm burnt out a bit don't think I'll hit 1k hours with how I got 2 jobs
Once I saw the fomo battle passes I instantly lost interest. I booted it up recently cause I heard you can get that stuff from a gacha but it's 30k a ball. The grind in this game is worse than fricking freemium phone games.

Maybe it has infinite rolls? But I would expect it to shoot while firing and deal a ton of damage + decent range and fire rate. Just very ink hungry. But if it's very ink hungry then the rolls will deplete its ink even faster. Hard to say, interested to see what they come up with

Two dogshit kits, worst range in the game. Levels have zero flanks and have backliner favortism.
If you're a sploosh you basically have to run quick respawn and just feed the whole game. If you run ninja squid you're sacrificing it's great swim speed buff over other weapons. And seeing as how it's unlikely weapons are going to get three kits in this game, sploosh is stuck with its dogshit kits. The alternate kit is offensively bad with killer wail and beacons. Zero synergy for the weapon and plenty of other better beacon weapons to use.

I like disruptor but apparently everyone whined that it was the most broken sub weapon ever so I don't think they'd bring it back. I'd be all for it though.
Seeker however was considered one of the weaker sub weapon so I don't see a problem with it coming back besides maybe conflicting with curling bomb or auto bomb

Is there even a reason to play slosher after this new one comes out? It seems to have the same range and damage as slosher except you can do two sloshes at once. It's a direct upgrade.

vanilla bucket still has a better kit since you combo off of 30 damage chip much more easily with a splat bomb than a suction bomb. tri-strike is much better than reefslider but thats a given, but to be more specific you dont want reef to get you in close since you dont to be very close in the first place with your slow fire-rate and low ttk

So keeping in mind some of these are clearly too good to be put on the new ballpoint, I have a bad feeling they are gonna ruin it by giving it either ink vac or reefslider. I'd hate that.
Reefslider would be fricking awful for it since you'd need to charge after the explosion to be able to continue offense. Zipcaster would also be trash because of the midair charging penalty.
Ink Vac could be decent for it since you're already in a backline position so you can apply the succ from a relatively safe position, though even after the buffs Ink Vac is still somewhat mediocre in general.
Saw that this interview question about the octo in Side Order caused speculation about whether the octo is a clone or some shit. This definitely just means you can choose to play as agent 4 or agent 8 depending on if you choose to be an inkling or octoling right? That's all I'm getting from this

Honestly though I'm expecting them to extend the game anyways. They won't have Splatoon 4 ready for the next console and they probably want an actively supported multiplayer game for year 1 owners of the new console.

What I meant is that the singleplayer is shallow because it's hard to make a uniquely different singleplayer mode based on the gameplay from the competitive shooter side of it. Even then the AC team could easily win back all the detractors by just including the QoL this time and making a big deal about the fact. They had a stripped down product because of the new town customisation, they can easily sell the same thing again + QoL and more dialogue for villagers and make bank.

Manta Maria has a lot more going on in than Eeltail, Scorch, or Mincemeat, that's for damn fricking sure. It's an objectively good level, considered one of the better levels from 2. Unfortunately the Splat 3 devs felt it was a good idea to gimp it and remove one of the alternate routes. But it's better than any of the new levels in 3. You've yet to name me a new level from 3 that's actually good.

What more does it have going on? It's a straight path with an elevated area, a bridge connecting it, and one flank route. That's just Eeltail. In fact most of the Splatoon 3 maps compare to Manta Maria. I'm really not sure why you chose that as your example. Like I said, it's the most Splatoon 3 map in that game.

Splatoon has always been more of a priority for the devs despite Animal Crossing's success. They finished Splatoon 1 and immediately shit another one out so it could be early on switch. Only after Splatoon 2 did they start making Animal Crossing. I feel like AC is something they're fine to let sit for a while but they're more aggressive with Splatoon releases. I definitely think Splatoon 4 will come first.

I've felt burned by every sequel I've played recently except MH Iceborne and EDF 5. Frick so many bad sequels in the past 5 years
Switch is on the way out, even if its successor is backwards compatible I don't see them thinking extending Splatoon 3's support life past the promised two years to be something they'd think would be worthwhile.
I think the Switch dying is exactly why they would extend it, only if it's backwards compatible obviously. I don't think Splatoon 4 would be ready and they probably want Splatoon to be active on the new console early on in some form. Extending support makes the most sense to me.

Even if he is the villain, someone would have to replace him at Grizzco for the mode to still exist. It's not like every single person at Grizzco would be collecting the eggs for some evil purpose so I'm not sure why everyone is convinced that Lil Judd must be doing that.

I've always wondered about this default shirt you always see the promotional/Smash bros inkling wearing. Does the shirt say いか? It means squid so there's no way it's just a coincidence. I don't think there's any instance of real Japanese anywhere else though.

Judd is on team chaos and he's the only one cozying up with Octavio, who has historically been a villain in the series. Not to mention it's implied that he was doing business with Mr Grizz who also ended up being a villain. Grizzco itself is a shady operation in which you're stealing eggs and murdering salmonids for some obscured reason. We now know that the eggs were going to a pretty nefarious cause, so what makes you think they're instantly being funneled towards a good cause, especially when nobody in the Splatlands seems to be aware of what Grizzco is up to now or who is even running it. It certainly hints towards Lil Judd being up to no good. I don't know why you wouldn't at least factor in the possibility
I think it mainly for gameplay purposes. If Grizzco is just perpetually being used for evil then nobody would work for them, especially after the second time that the leader was evil. You would lose salmon run if they keep Grizzco being evil. It can be shady but I wouldn't expect them to keep it evil without axing the mode entirely.

It's heavily implied people work for them because they're desperate for money, and like the real world people are desperate for money and will work for corporations in which they know they are evil because they need cash.

Grizz was mishandled completely which is the worst part of it all. Dude’s the guy who founded and instigates SR yet is tossed into some completely unrelated story with the stupidest motivation and killed off unceremoniously. Could’ve had something interesting with him and the salmonids but he’s wasted now. Especially hate they play off his death at the hands of smallfry as him getting his comeuppance for his business with the grizzco statue role-reverse after beating him, but it doesn’t work. Now whatever grizzco-centered story that should’ve involved grizz is going to lil’ judd, and I can’t imagine it not being stupid. I don’t even think they will delve much more into salmonids

I bought this game but barely play it.
I've put 900 hours into it. Think I put something like 400 into Splat 1 and 250ish into Splat 2. No idea why I've played 3 so much but I think it's playing with the pool is more fun than playing with randos. The game just *feels* good to play though, I dont know.
I did that with the first game. Didn't really get into it until Splatoon 2 and now I can't stop playing. Not sure why it but happened but you'll get hooked eventually.
I've barely played it since January. The shitty maps burned me out plus the realization that I was getting burned out due to basically the same gameplay since S1 had me take an extended break. I haven't even gotten to rank 10 on this season's catalog.
The meat grinder maps and boring splatfests is what got me to stop playing and paying for Nintendo online before the Zelda splatfest. If they fix the maps to be less AIDS then I would be inclined to play again but they are pretty painful and matches seem like a one way curbstomp most of the time. The same issues with modern TF2 which is funny.
I personally have other games to play from my backlog, so far I think I clocked in a good 400 hours, but I guess I'm burnt out a bit don't think I'll hit 1k hours with how I got 2 jobs

Once I saw the fomo battle passes I instantly lost interest. I booted it up recently cause I heard you can get that stuff from a gacha but it's 30k a ball. The grind in this game is worse than fricking freemium phone games.

Two dogshit kits, worst range in the game. Levels have zero flanks and have backliner favortism.
If you're a sploosh you basically have to run quick respawn and just feed the whole game. If you run ninja squid you're sacrificing it's great swim speed buff over other weapons. And seeing as how it's unlikely weapons are going to get three kits in this game, sploosh is stuck with its dogshit kits. The alternate kit is offensively bad with killer wail and beacons. Zero synergy for the weapon and plenty of other better beacon weapons to use.

Curling bomb doesn't explode on impact and that's what I want the most from seeker. It's a funny bomb. I threw it against a wall the other day and it splatted 2 people trying to climb up.

vanilla bucket still has a better kit since you combo off of 30 damage chip much more easily with a splat bomb than a suction bomb. tri-strike is much better than reefslider but thats a given, but to be more specific you dont want reef to get you in close since you dont to be very close in the first place with your slow fire-rate and low ttk

NTA but I did miss that. I took a break from both Ganker and Splatoon for a few years. Splatoon 3 sucked me back into both of them.
The state of Splatoon 2 at the end of the game was really bad so I'm not surprised it was hard to discuss it here. I'm surprised there were threads at all.
I assume the pool feature makes it much easier for these threads to survive now. I doubt they'd be nearly as active if we couldn't easily play together.

The only specials so far that aren't on a splatling of some kind, are Crab Tank, Ink Vac, Killer Wail, Reefslider, Super Chump, Missiles, Tristrike, Trizooka, and Zipcaster.
So keeping in mind some of these are clearly too good to be put on the new ballpoint, I have a bad feeling they are gonna ruin it by giving it either ink vac or reefslider. I'd hate that.
Reefslider would be fricking awful for it since you'd need to charge after the explosion to be able to continue offense. Zipcaster would also be trash because of the midair charging penalty.

I would really like a spinoff but I don't feel like it's going to happen. There's a lot that could be done with the series but it's too grounded in its competitive multiplayer shooter gameplay to take advantage of it. A spinoff will never happen though.
It managed to include arcade minigames, wave survival, decoration and dungeon dice monsters throughout the series as side things. Straying from competitive shooting is actually really easy

What I meant is that the singleplayer is shallow because it's hard to make a uniquely different singleplayer mode based on the gameplay from the competitive shooter side of it. NH's audience is 90% normalgays who loved it and most of them will buy the next one. Even then the AC team could easily win back all the detractors by just including the QoL this time and making a big deal about the fact. They had a stripped down product because of the new town customisation, they can easily sell the same thing again + QoL and more dialogue for villagers and make bank.

Unfortunately the Splat 3 devs felt it was a good idea to gimp it and remove one of the alternate routes. But it's better than any of the new levels in 3. You've yet to name me a new level from 3 that's actually good.

The western audience is irrelevant. Splat 3 became one of the fastest selling games in Japan. It's sold 13M in less than a year. That's huge. Splat 4 will sell gangbusters and they'd be foolish not to release one at release. Nobody is "burned" about Splat 3 in the grand scheme. Splat is like Call of Duty over in Japan, they're going to want to get it on the new console as soon as possible. Reminder that Splat 1 on the Wii U came out just two years before Splat 2 on the Switch. They're going to want to recreate Splat 2's success as well.
Splat also takes way less resources than to create a new animal crossing game. Splatoon games can be released in a half-finished state and then added on to later, that's always been the model and there's a ton of asset reuse.

Switch is on the way out, even if its successor is backwards compatible I don't see them thinking extending Splatoon 3's support life past the promised two years to be something they'd think would be worthwhile.
I think the Switch dying is exactly why they would extend it, only if it's backwards compatible obviously. I don't think Splatoon 4 would be ready and they probably want Splatoon to be active on the new console early on in some form. Extending support makes the most sense to me.
I would think that they would want to release the DLC at or near its height of popularity. By the end of support there won't really be as many people playing the game except the diehards. Also in my mind it means they're done with any kind of support patches unless something goes majorly wrong, but I could be wrong.

Grizzco itself is a shady operation in which you're stealing eggs and murdering salmonids for some obscured reason. We now know that the eggs were going to a pretty nefarious cause, so what makes you think they're instantly being funneled towards a good cause, especially when nobody in the Splatlands seems to be aware of what Grizzco is up to now or who is even running it. It certainly hints towards Lil Judd being up to no good. I don't know why you wouldn't at least factor in the possibility
I think it mainly for gameplay purposes. If Grizzco is just perpetually being used for evil then nobody would work for them, especially after the second time that the leader was evil. You would lose salmon run if they keep Grizzco being evil. It can be shady but I wouldn't expect them to keep it evil without axing the mode entirely.

I've always thought a single-player mode where you get in gigantic battles with combined Salmonid/Octarian forces would be fun
I'd rather fight a group of inkling terrorists along with some other species to make it kind of like the inverse of what we've been doing. We've done octarians and salmon for long enough.

I give up with this game mode. It's literally grenade and bubbler spam, and it's ALWAYS the enemy team while I get to watch my team get their shit get pushed in the moment they leave spawn. Resetting my rank is a fruitless effort because it'll basically be the same shit, just with less demand for points.
