Yes. I play with randos almost always. Used to play with my brother on launch (now much more rarely) and alternate in Splat 1 on the same console. The matchmaking's pretty random in the non-ranked matches but I don't mind it for the most part.
There's a pool system who was added in a update. You can join one and see other players in it without having to add them to your friendlist. It's pretty neat to play with the same pool of players.

Pretty much. I have almost always a good time with all the three original modes but Clam Blitz feels awful probably like 50% of the time. It's conceptually pretty good, with having to roam around the map and there being a strong emphasis on both offence and defence as well as the various routes in the map to make good plays in the changing situations. But somehow collecting the bloody clams and then having to take the big ball to enemy base with your team mates not playing objective (and not being sure if I'm playing it properly either) ends up making it all a chore most of the time. Might be just a case of being a trash at the mode, of course.
no the problem of clam blitz is that morons made a super team oriented mode for tourneys without any consideration that average moron timmy will never do anything resembling teamwork and will just lemming into the enemy fire until he loses
Yeah. That's what I was sort of implying with 'not playing the objective'. It's probably not a bad mode per se but it's hard to make it work with randoms. In fact, it's pretty similar to Rain Maker, but that works well with anybody, since it's much more straightforward.

I played a couple matches and I got bored because there isn't much different between matches. To me, the reason why I can play splatoon for hours on end is because I switch between different game modes, and you earn badges for doing things, even if foamstars did that it's not worth grinding because the servers will be turned off in a year tops.
Different modes i get, but badges keep you playing? Did you become less engaged with previous splat games without goals to work towards or is this your first one
My first game was splat 2, I stopped playing after 30 hours because grinding multiplayer was kind of boring and salmon run had the shift gimmick
I think badges were a pretty smart way to keep people playing, I imagine they’ll come back for the next game. Splat 3 has me more gripped than previous games but I think this game just feels better to me. I had put more time in 1 than 2, but now I have more hours than both them combined on 3.

This is what happens when you send us down to fricking 40 evp every god damn wave. What’s the point of having EVP if an absolute child can get into it no problem. I haven’t been below evp in many months but I got 6 straight unlucky games right at the beginning of this rotation with awful teammates and went straight down to pro +2. HOW IS THIS FAIR. HOW ARE THESE PEOPLE SO AWFUL. they NEED to make more breaks in the levels. There needs to be pro +4 and pro +5, current evp 0-100 could be +4 and 100-200 could be pro +5, and then evp could be from 200-999 currently. This would be so much more fair as these little Timmy’s can’t get lucky and cruise up to low evp by having 3 good freelance teammates for a while. I mean the skill discrepancy is monstrous. So, so infuriating that I work full time and have to waste SO much time sometimes trying to claw my way up above 100 or 150 evp where I can FINALLY consistently get at least average teammates for the level I’m playing. I waste most of the hour or so I have per day to play in these stupidly low evp levels even though I have multiple golden badges.

For the store, if we're generous and say each game averages 8gb (which isn't true because a lot of those games are virtual console), at 1590 games in total, that's around 13TB of data. That may sound like a lot, but I have single hard drives in my possession that are bigger. As far as the servers, peer to peer multiplayer as the wii u and 3ds does it takes peanuts in terms of resources and could probably be run on a single regular computer. Nintendo is doing this because they can.

Fricking everything that isn't just painting. I fricking hate reeflux, it's up there with goo tuber as one of my most despised SR weapons. Half charge spam can help with a crowd of mobs but it never feels like enough. It never feels like enough power, never enough power, and sure as frick never enough reach. Even steelheads are a pain in the ass, and that's assuming there isn't already several chum or cohocks blocking your shots because you have to get so FRICKING CLOSE. Again, no reach. I fricking hate it.
I will not rest until I get my marooner's and smokeyard badges. I will get them eventually, no matter how much it hurts.
Reeflux is like an inkbrush that can actually do damage and defend itself. You can pick your battles and be everywhere. With quick decision-making and reactions you can choose to reposition or fight, letting you be really aggressive and safe. Like the inkbrush though, you gotta train yourself to settle for softening up bosses or whittling them down over a few cycles and try to work with your team to help deal damage or finish off bosses you weaken. It doesn't always get opportunities to kill bosses in one cycle sadly. Steelheads are definitely harder to kill but you can kite around and make space for yourself so easily.

Anon, my entire beef with reeflux is that I CAN'T get fricking anything done despite all its supposed "advantages". Yeah, I spammed half-charges and could only get like half the mob killed before having to run away to refill and still have like 2 scrappers and a steelhead to deal with. This sort of situation happens all the fricking time and I hate it. Meanwhile, you claim painbrush gets you killed but all you need is literally one opening and everything fricking dies. Whole crowd? Dead. 3 bosses? Dead. Lid blocking your swings? Just run in, out, kill the lid, boom. Easy peasy.
Please don't tell me you also struggle with using dynamo. I'm not blind to the downsides of these weapons, but their ability to absolutely destroy everything in front of you is well worth the risk. Just one small opportunity and I can down like half the map by myself. Reeflex ain't letting me do that shit.
