Hopes? Expectations? Fears? Why the frick have they shown so little of it and why did they reveal it so early? In comparison Octo Expansion was revealed 3 months before its release with a lot more idea of what it was going to be, along with teasing playable octolings up-front. I expect the new season trailer and one last side order teaser in just a general direct. It's not like Nintendo is gonna have a lot to show off in the direct anyhow as they're winding things down before the new console gets revealed expected some time this year.
I'm sure they're saving stuff for the obvious Nintendo Direct next week, so no overview isn't too wild. That, and Octo Expansion didn't get much either prior to it coming out.
As for the mode? I'm cautiously optimistic. Last two campaigns were solid, so I would be surprised if this one flopped that hard. Then again, the premise could definitely hit or miss for a lot of people. Even as someone who enjoys rougelike elements, not sure how to feel about that in this kind of story mode.

Yeah, I'm wondering about that. On the converse, Splatoon stories are usually very end-loaded outside the obvious lore dumps and character interactions that could still happen here without much issue.
With the focus being on replayability, I wonder if the plot is going to be less focused on a big climax and more of just a reset button. I don't think it's going to have the same highs like the end of Octo Expansion, but that's just my prediction.

Sure, why not? High DPS, both dread wringer and dapples are strong. You've got a roller that can bail you out of glowflies and one shot steelheads with its vertical flick. Bamboo is the finnicky one, it's a love or hate thing with the weapon. Depends on your proficiency with it, but that's likely the sticking point

We're definitely unlocking inkopolis square as well as music from 2 in the jukebox along with Pearl and Marina performing in their own hub during splatfests like the Squid Sisters

With the hair you gotta program how it interacts with ALL types of headgear, from hats to headphones. Yea a lot of them follow the same type of format of interaction but otherwise it’s gotta be done for each type so it fits well and proper
Devs likely see as not worth the effort to do it given the amount of work needed along with hairstyles being purely cosmetic, so it’s pretty far down on priority. Does also explain how we got XL t-shirt adjustments and flipping caps, it’s a simple thing that can be applied to all similar pieces of gear so it likely was easy to do. Anything else wouldn’t be simple, so we don’t get those same adjustment options

There's been some stuff buffed but they've been very tiny buffs. They seem hesitant on giving anything huge buffs. Like wow they buffed Undercover to have a bigger jump while firing. Not really a game changer.

Like apparently even the old Splatoween gear will be coming back too, practically everything missing coming back outside of a few event specific things. On this point it goes far back as even before the game’s release. Lot of materials showcase S2 gear that isn’t in the game yet and some even showcasing brand new gear we didn’t get until months later or even ones we still don’t have

What are your thoughts on the Heavy Edit Splatling and what it's Alt Kit should be?
It's a strong weapon. No idea on the kit beyond something more offensive. I don't think curling bomb works well with it.
The whole gimmick is it being a very mobile splatling, so its kit makes some sense as an offensive kit (curling to aid in mobility, cooler for even more mobility)
As for alt kit I can see it getting something more support-oriented my guess would be beakons/inkzooka. Haven’t had a zooka heavy yet and given ballpoint didn’t get beakons heavy edit can fill that role instead

Speaking of which, can I please have some tips for using Hydra in Salmon Run.
For Spawning Grounds you want to hug the basket area on that elevated platform. Keep anything from getting close to you. You don't always have to go for a full charge either. Unleash a partial charge if you need to kill something quicker. You can do tap partial charges to do little puddles that you can jump to if you need to move somewhere quick. But it's not a weapon you want to be ferrying eggs with or hanging out in volatile areas. Just focus on killing everything, trash and bosses.
If you have nothing immediately threatening to shoot at, kill trash with a heavy focus on Cohocks. Remember that full charges do slightly more damage. You can also kill dolphins in the air outright with your ridiculous DPS.

Normally the new season trailer would drop right around the time Side Order releases, so that makes it a little harder to predict. Maybe a new season trailer will be shown in a nintendo direct followed by a side order trailer?

At this point I genuinely don't really know what to expect. It could be great, it could be trash, it could be decent. The only good thing confirmed so far is that I'll get to play as my baby girl again, but that's if I can be convinced to pay the 25 bucks for it. Not that I expect it to be a total garbage fire, but after the year Splatoon 3 has had? There isn't much reason to be optimistic. Granted, the updates have been getting better the last 2 seasons but that's no guarantee on the quality of the DLC. With all the time they had to make the base game of 3, it coming released relatively half-baked was a letdown. As were the first 6 months or so of updates. Couldn't even make it a full year without having catalog repeats. Doesn't bode well for this upcoming expansion. But I'll still hold out what little hope can be found, despite there being las than 2 weeks left.
On a related note, I was elated to fire up Splatoon 2 on a dummy profile last night and see that I can do a fresh Octo Expansion run. Wasn't sure how it would work with the DLC purchase tied to my account. But I can start that later, I need my SR bonuses right now. Anyone interested in a room?

Honestly, I'm not really hyped for it. I don't like roguelikes or roguelites, the first trailer was just a concept art reel which is not a promising sign, the procedural elements have me fearing they're a replacement for proper level and encounter design, and the enemies we've seen so far seem to behave like reskinned salmonids instead of being truly new enemies. I don't like the tone or Splatoon's increasing focus on these more serious stories because of Octo Expansion's success, and seeing a silhouette of Agent 4 in that poster seems to promise yet another fight against a brainwashed former character, which does not bode well for the campaign's originality. And knowing the previous results, it'll just be brushed off like it didn't happen in future games like it was with Callie and Captain. With all this and 3 so far being a general disappointment in both singleplayer and multiplayer, I just don't see the devs making something up to the quality of Octo Expansion again, and I don't even think Octo Expansion is as good as the rest of the Splatoon community thinks it is.
