Wich one do you prefer and why. I personally love the remaster more because of nice graphic. But some Anons say that original heve better gameplay. How so?

The remakes are good. Both have their charms.
Why do people reply to threads where the OP can't even type in correct English propey? You're contributing to the decline in the intelligence of this board
Daddy chill
>propey
You're gonna have to have a nice day now
I sink ita because of people like you who has bad English ok?! Sankyu.
Because a perfect understanding of the English language isn't a requirement, just enough to be understood.
I bet you don't sperg out like this when someone misuses commas.
"Screw up some things" sounds really light for being the deciding factor if it's good or bad.
Also
is the best advice in the thread.
No anon, people discussing video games is not anywhere near being one of this board's biggest problems.
Most remakes are pieces of trash that miss the point of what the original game was doing, either in the gameplay, tone, artistic department, or any combination of the above.
In the best cases they are sidegrades besides very few exceptions like the RE1 remake or Metroid Zero Mission where they just end up being their own (good) games. In any case, playing the original is always recommended, if only for having context.
that anon that can't speak english properly is contributing more towards vidya discussion than you are, so shut the frick up. also
>propey
Not at all of the peoples have the superior brain high intelligencia like you very smart poster have in you're posession. So very regretfully inferior dumbases like OP are talking to OP. Thanks you for undeadstanding.
Is the remake actually good or does it screw up some things? Would you recommend someone who never played Spyro to play the original trilogy?
Play a new one, it's 100x better than original. There are basically no differences in gameplay artstyle or story
>no differences in gameplay artstyle or story
>artstyle
brainrot
Without nostalgia or preference for older graphics, there's no reason to play the originals.
It's a mixed bag, sometimes the remakes look amazing and sometimes they're ugly (more of that in 2 and 3)
I would absolutely recommend playing both the remakes and originals they both have their charms
>and sometimes they're ugly
UGLY?
The trilogy runs like ass on Switch, that's all I have to contribute.
I play it on pc at 13 fps because the resolution is locked and can't be lowered... Anyone have a solution for this problem?
Of course, it screws up a number of things.
>The skyboxes are done lazily and lose a lot of their dream-like, fatastical appeal
>LOD isn't being used like the original games which is a rather big deal since Spyro was the first console game to make use of it so the team could make fog a solely optional thing for aesthetic purposes and not be required to use it to cover up render distance
For what should be a remaster with better technology and graphics to have WORSE tech and not use shit the original used is a clear downgrade by any standard form of measurement.
>Screwed up Sparx being able to pick up gems
This combines with the next point
>By adding burnable grass they made readability of gems in the distance far more difficult to see
To make a very damning case against them which the devs KNEW was a problem since they added the gem tracker to all games at the start because you won't be able to see what was previously one of the most crystal clear things on screen.
>crystal clear
hehe
but also reading all that makes me annoyed, crazy how game devs have just gotten worse over the past 15 years
>they added the gem tracker to all games at the start
This is false. Well at least for 2 onwards (dunno about 1) because I remember being able to do gemtracking in Spyro 2 on the PS1 as well. You had to push L1+R1 or L2+R2 (don't remember which it was) to do it and it's never explained, IIRC, but it was indeed possible.
1 never had it, don't remember if 2 did and for 3 it was an unlock for beating one of the Sparx stages(except in the remake you now have it at the start so you don't unlock anything).
>for 3 it was an unlock for beating one of the Sparx stages
Ah, that explains why in Reignited there was no bonus reward for beating the second Sparx challenge.
They turned all the dragons into homosexual barabait.
The remakes have technically higher fidelity, but are less aesthetically pleasing.
I prefer the originals, but there are some cases where the remakes have good visual fidelity and aesthetic appeal.
The original had SOVL.
The remake has no SOVL.
this. the art direction in the remakes is abyssmal
nu-Elora's hairy pubes...
Based
Elora single hoovedly brought back the bush to the mainstream.
Spyros gameplay is not good, no matter which one you choose. So big whatever you want
It plays good when you learn to run all ze times.
The remake is better, it's faithful and smoother to play and doesn't butcher the atmosphere like the MedEvil remake did.
I actually thought the spyro 1 remake was really incredible, but you could tell with 2 and 3 they were extremely running out of time and the quality slipped a lot
Then again my favorite spyro was always the first one, all the gimmicks and bullshit in 2 and 3 felt oncredibly fricking soulless besides the extra movement options like the double jump or god tier swimming which to this day *still* hasn't been matched in video games
This. The Spyro 1 remaster felt much more impressive than 2 and 3.
remaster looks better.
Remake added fortnite dancing so its worse by default
The OG's can't be replaced, but a more competent dev continuing the Reignited style with more accuracy to said originals and level design that offers good movement options and challenge is pretty much all I want. And more of the cast interactions too.
I just want more spyro I don't give a frick about the gang of BK kids club freaks that follow him around everywhere and take up level slots that could belong to him, thats one of the reasons why spyro 1 is still the best of the trilogy for me
My only gripe with secondary playable characters are half-baked gameplay, either make them as fun as the MC's or don't bother. Especially with modern advances in design philosophy.
Nu hunter is unsetting more than muppet hunter
Just needs to drop the Fortnite look I'd say.
TfB proved they were at least moving in the right direction with the step up crash 4 was from reignited, at least production wise. the lead art director during the development of said games left the studio roughly a year ago and they replaced him with the dude behind the sly cooper games, so most likely the studio's next game (spyro 4 or not) will have some level of change to it's overall art designing process.
Yeah but Crash 4 is a mess. It has okay gameplay, great art direction and writing, but the level design is atrocious and they don't have any sense of limit, so while the game is fine for a one time playthrough, the draw of a collectathon is 100% completion which is a bit too much in Crash 4.
>Crash 4 is a mess. It has okay gameplay, great art direction
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, the only thing that's worse than Crash 4's level design is the art direction.
Only thing that bothered me really about the Reignited Trilogy is the fairies shooting MUH generic fairy light instead of using the ZAP! that they claim to be using in dialogue.
Old one, the remasters would be nice if they fixed the mobs/npcs also Nu Elora is better atleast the model
I don't remember Artisans Home looking this shitty. This is the PS1 map imported into Gary's Mod, but it's a better representation of the aesthetic than what you're presenting here. Might just be the draw distance on hardware i guess.
The textures are not properly scaled for the geometry. This is especially important for the ground because they essentially use a couple pixels to give it texture. Here, the ground texture seems to be zoomed in.
I could post something from Spyro World viewer, if i understood how to use it better. I assumed it's a little more accurate than Garry's Mod.
Spyro 1 was notable for low poly untextured far away scenery which let it run well and not have fog
Undeniable proof that ESLs are literal apes.
Remake
did they changed the music on the remake?
if so, it is irremediable shit
Yes but you can swap to the OG's so no harm
they did. there's an option to use the original soundtrack but they half-assed it so you need a mod to fix it
that edit looks really nice
Can these buttholes in the gaming industry every do a remake or a remaster complete 100% justice? I swear every single one of them has at least some fricking issue every single fricking time. You would think this should be such an easy layup for these buttholes to get right but no they never do something has to go wrong.
Yes but you can change the music to the old one inside the game
I like some of the new arrangements
me too. thankfully there's an option to disable the dumb dynamic music.
I don't know I thought this rearrangement sounded kinda strange.
I think Spyro 3's music fared well overall
Watched that show a while back. It was pretty good.
Original isn't America-remake-slop with indian coders that took liberities and a bastardized aesthetic, it's that simple. No, I will not respect a dragon with a welsh name that looks like Ramajad Mamalad. Leave well alone or frick off. Better yet have the same respect for the product you expect people to have for your own work, or frick off. It's a simple as that.
the colors alone are all fricked up in the remake it looks disgusting i never touched it
god why are they like this
Ignoring any complaints people have about redesigns/artstyle and looking at the gameplay itself.
>Reignited 1 is an objective improvement
>Reignited 2 is roughly on par with the og
>Reignited 3 is a downgrade
>Reignited 1 is an objective improvement
how?
the reignited version of spyro 1 has alot of features/QOL that were introduced in spyro 2 and thus don't exist in the PS1 version. to name a few off my head:
>gem finder
>minimap
>warping to levels via pause menu
1 reignited also adds the skill point system that was in the later installments of the series
I didn't even realize Spyro 2 has a map when I played it at some point. Did Spyro 3 have one? Never thought you'd need one for these games
Never played Reignited 3, what did they make worse
It wasn't so much they made it worse as it was the game was more shoddily made than the other two. You can tell they were rushed the most with it.
Well you can say the same thing about the original YotD, it clearlt is unfinished, so if anything the Reignited version is a faithful remake here.
That's a shame but doesn't sound like a downgrade vs the original then.
I was planning to play it soon because I wanted to replay Spyro 3 and heard you can do Sparx and Agent 9's sections with KBM controls.
Is there an opportunity to change the new graphics to the graphics of original games like similar option to what they did in HALO remaster?
No but would be nice
the sound design is also way worse but no one ever mentions it
running and the gem get being the most noticeable since you hear them for 90% of the game
voice acting and music is all a downgrade too
People never talk about sound design in remakes, even though it's a big part of the atmosphere. I noticed this with Medievil as well, the OG just has better sound effects and some sounds were just missing from the remake. Demon's Souls too
I played the first game last month and it instantly became my favorite 3D platformer.
I played the Reignited version after and ended up liking it more because of the controls.
The PS1 game seems to have better color contrast and skyboxes to me. The top does not look bad though. Its just that Spyro games always looked great even today. Those graphics have held up so well.
I will never forgive the Reignited for removing the portal gem animation as well as the Orb bounces in 2.
Even all the Dragons in 1 don't fill in that void, that is the most soulless thing in the remake.
I used to not care and play the remasters because it was more convenient. Recently I replayed the whole original trilogy and the remastered after that and I realized that I like the originals more.
i much prefer the original because it is more sovl and more challenging
Wish the games had done more stuff like this level. There were some places, but this is such a good level through and through. Instead it became more about minigames and relatively simple platforming
Are there any good mods?
Only mod I remember seeing thrown around was the Cynder mod.
There are hundreds of mod to fix each npc, but instead of repacking all of these you have to individually download each one
up
Yeah the only good ones I've tried are
(which is pretty novel with the voice acting inclusion) and
, which is a pain being individual mods but at least you can customize which changes you want that way.
Other mods that are nice are HUD updates and skybox updates. I'm not so much of one to complain that "the colors are fricked up" but the reversion mods are pretty slick. You can even swap the crystal dragons for the old school look (not that the new one is bad)
there's no excuse for defending these remakes
the art is a downgrade, the music is a downgrade and they had to be strongarmed into even including the actual music - which is still broken, the gameplay isn't changed, and they expect to be paid for it
the only possible defence is that you have some kind of terrible disease that makes you unable to play ps1 games, otherwise you're paying for the privilege of a worse game that actively shits on the original
I just wish I was happy as I was playing the original 3 for the first time.
Stop drinking alcohol. It's a depressant.
But that's the only thing that makes me happy anymore.
I couldn't finish the remake because it didn't take long for me to realize that i wasn't playing the same game. The remake is not the correct way to play Spyro. There is way too much lost in translation in general imo
I'm not even particularly a snob about how the crash remakes looks. But Spyro didn't really need to be touched other than just making it scale on modern resolutions perhaps. It's just it's own thing entirely.
For me, its the jap release of Spyro 1.
>so shit it killed the series in japan
why did they do it
Spyro may not have the most technically impressive skyboxes, but it should win an award in the category for creativity. It's up there with Unreal Gold's ones for me.
as a spyro autist that obsessed with the game as a kid and obsess with the newer game as an adult, the new one is pretty true to the original. Even the cart mini game. At first everyone hated the character designs but now everyone has warmed up to them and loves them.
>At first everyone hated the character designs but now everyone has warmed up to them and loves them.
I don't so it can't be everyone, Black person
I wish I could too anon, but I guess I'm too much a Spyro autist to accept the new graphics. I do still wanna see a new Spyro game but I just straight up don't like Reignited's artstyle outside of the dragons. It's not because I'm gay >:(
I still hate them. And the ingame models are hideous. People only like their off model fanarts that make the characters cute by fixing the designs. Or porn. No one likes this three dimensional crackhead.
Where did they go wrong? The concept art was so right.
unironically hiring pajeets, the credits is full of them
the remake was rushed and vastly outsourced
surprising, I know
>everyone
aside from the obvious barabait garbage in 1, Hunter's redesign and voice in reignited is an absolute downgrade from the original. That alone discounts any reason to play the remake of 2.
God I hate the direction the tried to take with Hunter. Why didn’t they just get Berger to voice him again, he was already there for Ripto.
>tries to pose himself as a "true fan"
>"everyone likes new, guys, beleive me"
have a nice day.
noone warmed up to them homosexual. the demaster's abhorrent art direction is as uninspired and a letdown as it was at release day
you're supposed to at least try with trolling
>the new one is pretty true to the original
This image gets brought up a lot, and it's because it's actually relevant. The remake has a fundamental misunderstanding of the art direction.
If you think people are being too nitpicky then i think the best way to demonstrate the discrepancies between artstyles is by showing off the skyboxes from the loading screens. But there's numerous other examples as well, this is just a good example of not much thought being put into it.
still baffled how they just didn't bother at all with the loading screens
People don’t care about a good loading screen anymore. Same thing happened to ratchet and clank
Or even the gems on the loading screen for that matter either. And that's another point against the remake in putting less effort into certain areas. I don't know how people can really counter the point i made earlier about the people making the remake not understanding the color theory behind the original game.
This looks like an outdated version for reignited though. In my PC version, every time Spyro gets a gem or anything else, he does a backflip and shows a comical exaggerated happy face as if he got the greatest birthday present ever.
Alright I'll take your word for this being out of date. But how can you argue against this anyway? sorry to post the same thing again, but Toys for Bob suffered from cognitive dissonance while developing this remake. This is outright just showing you everything they did wrong.
on point. I spent two hours in the demake, sold it, then came back to the og. now I know why. what a waste
Reignited has a few character redesigns I don't care but other than that they did a good job with it, even if 2 and 3 are less polished over all
OG is way better. I still got my CRT and the way it blends level of detail based on distance + regular CRT+ps1 sovl is remarkable.
