Final Fantasy X was a collaborative effort between several writers whereas X-2 was just two and finally "X-3" was just Nojima alone. They say too many cooks spoil the broth but, at the same time, it helps a lot to have a bunch of writers bounce ideas off of each other. Especially when the project is collaborative in nature to begin with.

This is how I would prefer it too, but I don't know is SE and/or KT would want to do another game with the same twist. The next best thing would be to tell the story of a popular side character, and they could take this even further by choosing a side character who is a mainstay of the series such as Cid or even Gilgamesh. Another way would be to have you play as a member of a popular organization such as the Wutai. The story there could be about you being the member that advances the group to where they are up at the beginning of the coinciding game. Another would be to play as a villain that already has an outline of a backstory such as Sephiroth and what led to him being revered as a hero. Finally, they could come up with their own crazy canon of how villains ended up in their position, such as Ultimecia or Exdeath.

My aunt works for Nintendo-Enix and she said they're remastering Dirge of Cerberus next and are in the planning stage for WoFF2. Everything else on the list is fake and there to throw you off.
DoC will be like Crisis Core mostly faithful remaster with QoL and balance changes but they're reworking the aiming. Unreal engine will help a lot to make it smoother.
WoFF2 is too soon to tell. They don't know yet if it'll be a sequel with the twins, or a new black nonbinary protagonist with Tama returning, or a looser spinoff type in the same world like the Crystal Chronicles series was.
Also Tactics WotL will get remastered but it's very low priority, like 2026 earliest.

I want the next Dissidia game to be a musou with the robust customizable movesets and all the fleshed out RPG mechanics of the PSP games (including things like the world map from Duodecim) and a fully-featured duel mode to preserve the series' 1v1 origins. Call it "Crystal Warriors" or something and give KT a real budget to make it shine. The manikins could stand in as unit captains with actual characters being generals and classic FF mobs as regular enemies, and the Brave system could be repurposed to work kind of like army morale but with greater back-and-forth and bigger payoffs.
But I'd settle for a port of Duodecim to modern platforms. A full remake or sequel with new characters would be great too, of course, but if they just threw the PSP game straight onto Switch or Steam I'd buy it. I just wanna play Dissidia again

Its a good game, but do not expect it to be the best game you ever played.
Story starts as GoT with Kaiju but ends up with JRPG fight got stuff. Its thematically solid but the plot has a few things that are wtf and clearly not well written that drag it down, but it lands its high points well.
The combat is very fun, soundtrack is great etc.
Unfortunately it has some of the worst sidequests in existence, every early game sidequest is literal filler that isnt worth doing, and the mid-late game ones are long quest chains that are miserable unfun to play but have decent story resolutions if you suffer through them.
Also any "exploration" or "rpg" elements in the game are just outright terrible, a nonexistent crafting system and huge open empty areas with literally nothing to do and no reason to explore complete with MMO fetch quests.
Its easily the best mainline FF game since XII and worth playing but its absolutely not worth buying a PS5 for.

They can work on models for the FF16 dlc or provide support for YokoTaros upcoming games and thats about it.

A: A prequel story, like about Regis's roadtrip or set 2000 years ago in medieval Lucis times
B: A story running parallel to the events of XV itself, like a side B "Lunafreya's journey" story
C: An alternate timeline, which is essentially what DOTF was (and there is already at least 4 FFXV alternate timelines, the main XV timeline, the Ep Ignis verse 2 branch which splits off from chapters 9 of base game after Leviathan stuff, DOTF alt timeline which splits off if Ardyn refuses Bahamuts deal and spawns a timeline where Bahamut turns to hate humanity and wants to destroy it in contrast to him wanting to save it like im base game, and the Versus XIII timeline which DOTF confirms is an alternate timeline to FFXV, in addition even 2006 Versus XIII is another alt times upon that (solely based on how 2006 Versus looked including the placeholder original Niflheim soldiers and trashbag noctis design)
Since the entire conflict is resolved and the crystal, lucis magic, all royalty, the daemons and summoning is gone at the end in main game, there wouldn't be anything to really dive into to warrant a full game taking place after the events of main XV, humanity is just rebuilding, only regular creatures like garulas and behemoths and catoblepas and sabertusks and dual horns, regular wildlife creatures part of the natural eco system are the only thing still around besides the remaining humans, and the bros just go on with their lives and help restore lucis

Luminous staff were literally already assisting on FF7R and FF16 while making forspoken since like 2018 too and SE literally brought them back internal SE solely to lead AAA dev on existing AAA SE IP instead of only doing new ip which they were contractually obligated to under LP terms
Nobody on the upper level cares about the technicalities and engine changes. The game ended up being a 6.5/10 mediocre experience that didn't make the money back that SE invested into it resulting into the DLC plans getting cancelled. Forspoken was their one hope to proof that they can not be a financial burden and they failed to deliver on that end as well. So now they are support only and their original team dissolved.
The only reason why they didn't get all fired is Japan having a different mentality than the west in that regard. Motomu Toriyama shat the bed with the FF13 sequels as well but all that happend was him now being a support-director only for projects like FF7R.

I would like to see a remake of FFVI but the most safe projects are remasters of tactics and crystal chronicles for the switch/2 , remakes of the mainline ps1 games had to wait until they end with FFVII, a sequel for XV-2 would be a problem because of their stupid idea of breaking the story in so many mediums and they probably need to retcon all of them or somehow introduce them in the sequel as flashbacks or whatever, X-3 would need to wait until a remake of X but they already had made a remaster so it's a nono for now and with that maybe a new mainline game would be the best idea for AAA games
