50 gigs doesn't seem too bad if that's two 25 gig games with higher quality assets than the originals, like possibly audio, texture, and video, plus the bonus content. A lot of AAA games are about double that now.

I doubt many scrubs are gonna buy this but the increased playercount that could potentially come from this would be nice, if you check the online right now you'll find a bunch of servers up but only one is near max player count. $40 for two ancient games and also 50gigs because of file bloat is asking a lot for people who already own it.
The current PC version of SWBF2 doesn't have full controller support, like navigating through menus with ease, also lacks vibration. The game also does not scale well to high resolutions, example - the UI breaks and text becomes illegibly small on resolutions like 4k. Out of the the box it needs some amount of modding to play on modern setups. So your answer is mostly accessibility for more people and extra easy money in company's coffers. Not everyone wants to spend time or effort tweaking a game to an optimal state, and it also isn't currently available on all current gen platforms.

It was on x-box. That's where I first played it.
The new heroes and maps were exclusive to Xbox Live. The only thing new for this release was expanding the Vs Heroes mode to every map.
PC version was a rush job based on the Xbox port but mistakenly used a bunch of unfinished assets (see geonosis PC vs Xbox) PC was meant to get a 1.2 update that added the Xbox engine update and fix the issues with a few maps but it never released.
This new remaster likely has the geonosis fix along with the DLC update they showed off in the game trailer.

It’s fun, it’s a casual as frick shooter don’t worry about getting fricked by pros. Once you learn the maps and classes you’ll be fine
Games like Titanfall and Quake are hard because the pros know all of the secret movement techniques so they can zip around at a million miles an hour. The classic Battlefront games don't really have anything like that (outside of playable Jedi units). Every unit is just canon fodder, and that's why the game is fun. It's hard to go on a giant kill streak when you're not very fast and you have just as much health as anyone else.
That said, I cannot fricking wait for the absolute carnage that'll occur in Polis Masa, and the Bespin Cloud City platform hallways.

The MS-DOS version is decent, if a bit clunky. There's also the tabletop sim version, but you need another human for that.

I never got why Ganker always acts like TF2 is a super hard game full of great players. My casual friends that rarely even play shooters love TF2 the most out of everyone I know and have no problems playing it when we boot it back up once in awhile. They have a harder time playing CoD with me because it has SBMM. Just use hitscan and stim if you're having that much trouble.
I should go back to TF2. It had some of the most meaty mech combat I've ever experienced. Most mech games play out like tank games or jet games but in TF2 I'd just dash in with a shotgun the size of a school bus and go to town when I was not catching fricking bullets in midair to throw back at my enemies. They don't make them like that anymore.
Last time I checked Ganker thinks anyone who plays TF2 for reasons other than spamming taunts is a tryhard.

helis are super simple to kill, and i only played hardcore mode, it was super fun because nobody including helis could see player markers so they had to get closer or use good positioning to spot enemies.

The sniper in this game didn't have non scoped scatter, so if you practiced enough you could run around the map one shotting people. I spent hours and hours learning how to do this. A mechanic like this would never survive today's multiplayer base so hopefully it's just the nostalgic millennials who pick this up.

Also, just the basic blaster rifle can be stupidly overpowered thanks to lock-on. I remember getting insane results like a 70:0 KD ratio against bots as a kid just using a blaster rifle.

There's always been a competitive scene. Even in the PS2 days, with matches organized on weird corners of Star Wars forums. And they still exist in Discord servers now. Most glitches are usually just ruled as cheating (especially oob stuff). Sometimes there are house rules like limits on the number of certain class types. And since it's local server hosted people do their own balance tweaking on top of that. Personally I don't like the balance tweaks because I hate the game playing different depending on the server, and I like communities working around unbalanced jank. Also in my experience the competitive scene for this game was always a little uninteresting to me because they usually stick to smaller game sizes. Like usually 4v4 or something. Which doesn't work at all on half the maps in the game, and ruins the allure of the game to me which is the big huge chaotic clusterfricks.
Every even somewhat open map is just going to be unplayable unless you're a sniper or in a vehicle
I know the chances of this are slim to nil, but I hope there's regional galactic conquest matches. Like, 32 of you vote on which direction to take the ship, and the battles are 32 vs 32. Obviously because this could take hours or days, it's drop-in drop out, but it'd be awesome. Kind of like Splatfests from Splatoon.
Multiplayer Galactic Conquest would be kino, but I’m not sure how that would work. Who would be the ones making the decisions as to what planet to invade next? There’s no way a bunch of players are all going to have the same strategy in mind.
It'd be easy to implement, if not a little chaotic.

Ah but therein lies the power of voting. Without a clear way to communicate, and with a bunch of tards voting for random shit, it'd be a total clusterfrick (as it should be). Sure there's an optimal path, but good luck trying to convince the other 31 players on your team to follow it without clear communication.
the point is to have fun and sometimes LARP as the empire/CIS, not do the optimal games everytime.
Rising Storm 2 had a multiplayer campaign map on some servers where you vote for the next map/battle and it devolved to people playing the same shorty map over and over because that map basically ensured 1 side would win and the server would clear out after a while. People are aids and deserve no freedom.
You wouldn't be able to do that in BF2, though. If you fight on a planet, and win, you own that planet and can't fight on it again unless the enemy ship tries to take it from you. If you fight against an enemy ship, and win, the enemy ship is destroyed and has to respawn on their home planet. It'd be super hard, if not impossible, to only fight on the same 2 maps each round.
I know there are online communities for the game that have run this system manually. By just simulating the map and deciding on things outside of the game. It probably wouldn't work as well if the game managed it because of the time commitment, as you say. But I'm sure people will try the manual style one.
Seems like this is just a HD port of the originals with a few quality of life tweaks that overall don't change the original game. I doubt there will be any new mechanics.

It’s a spelling mistake that keeps his voice lines from playing and that could be fixed by using a script file. I’m not sure if they’re going to go the extra mile to re-implement them or not but it’s entirely doable, just like the phase 1 clone commander that was supposed to appear on gnosis, but was cut due to a spelling mistake.

Will they fix the broken ass crosshair that's in 2? 1's was fine because they offset it up a bit and had it move dynamically, then in 2 they moved it to the center of the screen but didn't change bullet trajectory. For all you 2gays who never touched 1, this is why your bullets don't actually go where you're aiming in third person.

That game's ideas and single player campaign got recycled into Battlefront Elite Squadron for PSP. Battlefront 3 is a dead and scrapped project with no chance of revival and modders today just use the scraps of leaked assets to make SWBF2 skinned in the style of it.
i played hundreds of hours against the AI, modded the game to play against the AI and add new campaign missions, i think Battlefront 2 was the perfect game with a good balance between AI and multiplayer.
it's a very solid game if you wish to have fun playing against the AI too, it's not just the multiplayer aspect of the game imo.
oh and btw the mission selection menu of the OG BF2 is better than what EA did, how the frick did they fail on every aspect except graphics ???
