People don’t fault 7 enough when it is just as shitty and responsible for the failure of the trilogy as the other ones.
True but people did generally enjoy their theater experience with tfa. My take was that tfa made for very poor start to the trilogy but salvaging it was theoretically possible if subsequent directors knew what they were doing.
I thought it was highly unlikely to happen and when TLJ came out I watched for signs in early feedback/reviews that they were taking it in the right direction. Those reviews (even the positive ones) confirmed my predictions, so I initially decided not to even see it.
However, I did NOT predict that TLJ would be so absurdly terrible. I expected it to be lame and feminist with a shit but generic plot. I didn't expect such total a failure of storytelling. So after 6 months of whatching the fallout of Rian's thermonuclear stupidity on Ganker I watched the trainwreck for myself and concluded that the trilogy and maybe even the franchise was totally unsalvageable.
Did not even watch 9.
It will never cease to amaze me how badly Disney managed to frick it up. For all the MCU's problems, they managed to - at least until Endgame - juggle a dozen fricking movies all connecting with each other and make it work. They pay a fortune for Star Wars then can't even do a basic trilogy. How do you go into that with ZERO planning? And not only that, have completely different people make each one?
Its begging for a proper modern rerelease considering how popular AOE II is and how this game is basically AOE II Star Wars edition (but really good). Used to play it a ton as a kid.
Either that, or she was just moronic and gave the middle part to a moron who subverted everything to shit. 7 was meh but 8 couldve really worked on it and set up properly but in stead it shit all over everything and then handed it back to JJ who had to fart something together in two weeks

dont worry bros one day I'll finally make it and buy out Star Wars. I'll immediately put everything made after Disney acquisition into a separate non-canon Disney Fanfiction category, then restore selected EU works as canonical. Then I will proceed to make Zahn's Thrawn Trilogy in movie format as Episode 7, 8 and 9.
i'm out of the loop, there's a thrawn tv show that isn't even based on zahn's books? they wrote thrawn into the new disney shit without acknowledging any storyline? jesus christ just break into timothy zahn's house and kick his dog already, why does star wars hate him so much
>i'm out of the loop, there's a thrawn tv show that isn't even based on zahn's books?
afaik it's just meant to be the Clone Wars of OT, bunch of OC characters getting chased around by big bad always just-incompetent-enough jobber, in this case Thrawn and maybe some inquisitors or something who cares anymore
Original Star Wars as done like that and the MCU had lots of directos, this seemed like two winning formula to the execs, not to mention they started out so strong release wise with JJA's generic slop so they felt someone a bit more experimental would be good.

I'm really stating to believe that theory that Kennedy did it out of spite, to deliberately destroy Lucas' legacy because she hated him.
For me it was how a vital piece of plot information was gatekeeped in a motherfricking Fortnight event of all things, they didn't even used SWBF2 for a proper tie-in that at least would make some sense...
The message Sheev broadcast to the whole galaxy after somehow returning was played in a Fortnite event. Meanwhile, the movie just had the "THE DEAD SPEAK!" opening crawl.
lol i just dont understand people like you
for me it was enough to watch the first 30 minutes of the episode 7 to understand whats happening and whats going to happen with the franchise, since then i didnt watch a single new star wars movie or a show and in my head they never came out, therefore the universe stays intact just like i remember it.
While you, i assume, still watch every new slop disney puts out, knowing that its going to suck, and torture yourself just because of the marketing hype or something.
Im not the same anon but i want you to know what you are describing is cope. You are coping. Just because star wars remains the same 2001 shit in your head doesnt mean thats how it is in real life. So if you live in real life, you would consider it dead
Was just thinking about this game the other day. Surprisingly well put together game, especially for a licensed title. Voice acting was pretty bad though.
this was the first game my father ever bought for me. i remember it getting a lot of expansion packs in really cool cases. it ran really well for me when we had a bad pc, so it was the best game ever in my kid opinion. nowadays could give a shit less about anything star wars related.
These scenes are meaningless to me because star wars has been dead for so long. i can't believe people still watch it
Andor was fricking solid. For once Disney didn't throttle us with woke shit. We actually got a thoughtful and elaborate plot with probably the best dialogues in Star Wars canon.
its boring
Nah it's a shitty slow start but it really picks up three episodes in. I recommend giving it another shot, unless you just hated the original trilogy, or you can't stand heists or political thrillers.
Cassian Andor as a character, isn't particularly awesome either. It's more about the story of the rebellion and him getting caught up in its manifestation, seeing things through his eyes, which is pretty original. Interesting to see the rebels get portrayed in a fairly badass manner.
>If Sheev got killed by someone angery, he would just reincarnate by possessing his killer
Why didn't the Rebels just use some soulless automaton to kill him then?
Also how did Rey who's his granddaughter gotten away with killing him without being possesed?
People say "AOE2 but star wars". The star wars part has a cool factor, but I think SWGB genuinely has some great mechanics that I prefer over AOE2
Air units are the biggest thing. reasonable counter/alternative to boats for ocean maps. A lot more maneuverability in the mid game so you have something to do other than ground fight over a chokepoint.
Most units are ranged; melee units are the exception. This makes the micro more enjoyable for me but this is probably subjective
A lot of other small things. Medics are available cheaper and early in the game. Shield generators make turtling viable (this is probably controversial)
My ideal game I think would actually be a Star Wars game in the vein of Total Annihilation / Supreme Commander, or a mod/reskin on something more modern like BAR
>Medics are available cheaper and early in the game.
Them being in the town center kinda hurts them imo, since you want to prioritize worker production. >Shield generators make turtling viable (this is probably controversial)
They just need something that counters them really, or maybe just power cores shouldn't be affected by the shield.
As far as I know, they have a bonus against buildings and defenses armor class, but not against power&shield armor. Shield itself doesn't seem to have any counter at all.
I thought a shielded unit/building still has the same underlying weaknesses/resistances applied to its shield points and its HP. Like if a Jedi is under a shield, you still want to counter with a bounty hunter.
I know that there's a "Power/Shield" armor class but I thought that was only for Power Core and Shield Generator *buildings*. Is it actually applied to shield "HP" too regardless of the underlying unit? (That would make sense, but there's a lot of shit in the genie engine that doesn't make sense)
Yes, shields just act as secondary HP.
No, shielded units don't gain any armor class. At the moment it's not possible to deal extra damage specifically to shielded units.
Although, technically, all shielded units take extra damage. When hit, they take a minimum of 1 HP damage, in addition to their full amount of shield damage. So if a unit has 10 HP and is hit with an attack of 9, their shield would go down to 1, and their HP would go down to 9.
Nah that's a holdover from early development, they probably never got such a bonus actually working. Shields don't strictly have a counter, but the core mechanics of how they work mean that units under shields can't just live forever.
For me it's being able to garrison sheep inside mills for constant food trickle. Makes slaughtering sheep a real choice instead of something you always do.
Most serious games don't go beyond an hour, or even 30 minutes. Getting an immediate surge in food so you can hit TL2 right away is huge. That's why I like maps that offer so many nerfs or banthas that you can fill up two nurseries and have some left over.
Base amount of food generated was less than 8 per minute per animal. It's great to have if the game goes on, but as

pointed out, the surge in food lets you shoot up in tiers quickly. That 30 minute mark is roughly when the nursery makes better returns than slaughter.

Old PC games had hotkeys, moron. You can still have everything tied to button presses, and still have soulful menu design. The reason phoneposter UI became so popular is because it's low effort, and making anything better would mean actually having to give their game a distinct identity, which most games don't.
There are multiple mods that butcher graphics for the sake of online gaming clarity in AoE2 alone. Compgays clearly have no use for decorations

They're basically the same thing. They both disregard most of the game and look primarily at the numbers, thinking how to shave off a few seconds here and there to be faster than others.

And people wonder why RTS died. It's because devs started pandering to these gays.
It is a STAR WARS mod for AOE2. An EXTREMELY POORLY BALANCED one. It is just not fun to play at all beyond the story mode which is also kind of boring.
Too much to note but here you go. >Hvy mechs no longer shoot in AOE and cannot be put into air transports where you One shot kill entire armies by instantly deploying them and the picking them up 1 second later after they shot. >Air combat as a whole needs revamp. In general ground Anti-air is too powerful and cheap and air is just too expensive. Bombers' attacks are too slow to hit any ground units and they barely even tickle to buildings. Fighter battles do almost nothing to the ground game. The entire air part of the game was just a forced addition. >Cavalry is laughably weak even early game and get completely obsolete as soon as the first striker mechs hit the field which is son. Since the majority of the game is ranged attackers any melee either need to be ultra tough or it becomes pointless.
>Jedi or Jedi fights are a slog, they take forever and running away is too easy while all Jedi/Sith knights/masters are basically the same unit with different costs and stats they have no proper roles. Without bounty hunters even Jedi knights can just dominate the field until they hit walls or buildings at which point the game turns into a slow boring chipfest as they slowly try to demolish your buildings with lightsabers. Jedi need to be either toned down or some other counter. And it looks dumb to see a billion Sith Lords running around on the field an using force lightning on houses and basic walls and doing almost no damage while just one worker is repairing the wall on the other side.
And the meme >Trade Federation not needing to build houses at all is why we can't have nice things!
This is why 90% of players play Federation that and Droidekas being the best hit and run unit in the game.
Overall the game has a ton of useless features and can often end up in a stalemate that is hard to break out of or a complete blowout at the early game.
Fighters are fast moving glass cannons they are okay for hit and runs to snipe workers troops and other aircrafts but require constant micro. If you can get 5 of them they will 1 shot un-upgraded workers. Their other role is keep airdrops away but with 150 HP and poor map vision airdrops are usually so fast they will make it anyways like it or not.
Again with all air units problem is the cost. A fighter is 50 food and 60 Gold (or Nova if you like.) And it needs an airbase which is T3.
An AA trooper is 35 Wood and Wood and deal 30 + 13 to aircrafts so they one-shot basic fighters if they hit. Now of course hitting is not easy because you can micro Aircrafts but that can take you so far.
Fighters deal 4 + 15 dmg to each other mean 2 fighters will one shot 1 fighter/bomber. So an air battle is a chaotic mess of chasing and hit and runs that can end up in literal seconds so generally everyone should avoid air engagements unless you have huge superior numbers. But if you do then AA Mobile vehicles will laugh at you.
And as upgrades go Fast fighters and Advanced Fighters the trend continues they quickly shoot down each other unless you have aircraft shield tech which can absorb 1 shot but not more. They do even more damage to workers and troopers. But by the time T4 hits everyone should have at least some air defense if they saw that fighters are moving around in T3.
ofcourse, all the old games where developers were including Lan support can still be played online.
You need to have similar version with your opponent tho (best way to make sure this is the case is you both download it from the same place).

It is, though. Usually in context of that huge mod with extra factions.
Like said, it regularly gets threads for Expanding Fronts. Last one lasted until this month I think.
Because I didn't know that AoE2: Star Wars existed.
Disney killed any interest in SW to the point i cant look at anything related to it, franchise is dead to me
Same. The one-two punch of The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker totally eradicated my interest in Star Wars.
People don’t fault 7 enough when it is just as shitty and responsible for the failure of the trilogy as the other ones.

You should, it's really funny in a "my childhood love is dying" sort of way.

That sounds more reasonable with insane hysterical laughter, than anything funny.

Yes, especially ones where Padme/Ashoka/Rey gets corrupted by dark side and railed by some Sith
>Rey gets corrupted by dark side and railed by some Sith
how Rise of Skywalker should have ended.
I still love empire at war but I agree
Because it is AOE2, but good, so people don't care.
I've played this game since it came out and its no where close to as polished as AOE2
AOE2 isn't all that good, so a Star Wars skin makes it better.
Was just thinking about this game the other day. Surprisingly well put together game, especially for a licensed title. Voice acting was pretty bad though.

Andor won

Looks dangerous and impractical tbh
Huh. These catwalks are narrow enough to turn them 90 degrees and have them run right above the hatches.
What are those sky things? Meteor shower?
yes the rebels waited for it to do stuff because the tie pilots would struggle to fly ing it
>If Sheev got killed by someone angery, he would just reincarnate by possessing his killer
Why didn't the Rebels just use some soulless automaton to kill him then?

Sheev is Lucius?
He didn't want to be stuck in the body of a mid looking mouth breathing woman, so he chose death instead.
I have never heard of this game
you must be 18 years old to post here
r8 or h8
Naboo was always cool to me. Cool buildings, units, ships. I will always live phantom menace.
Wookies must be top tier. Faster wood gathering and full upgrade airbase is much better than trade federation.
And gungans +range troopers are top tier with portable shield uu.
You forgot that you have to play as a wookie though so that makes them automatic F tier
People say "AOE2 but star wars". The star wars part has a cool factor, but I think SWGB genuinely has some great mechanics that I prefer over AOE2

Aren't the mortar infantry supposed to be an anti-shield unit?

Slaughtering the not-sheeps never seemed like a good idea on the long run, maybe for early rushes I guess.

I remember thinking nurseries were completely irrelevant but eventually realized they need power to work at full speed...
That's only in base SWGB. They work at full speed in Clone Campaigns and Expanding Fronts.
because it's just a reskin of AoE2 to help market episode 1 of starwars
That UI is pure sovl tho.
Always loved how much effort was put into making every faction look and feel totally unique.

Because Star Wars is terrible.
At this point they could pretty much take this whole game as is, replace all the SW stuff with a new look and civs, and sell it as AoE5.
Is there a way to play this game online in multiplayer today? I have an original retail copy of the game.
ofcourse, all the old games where developers were including Lan support can still be played online.
You need to have similar version with your opponent tho (best way to make sure this is the case is you both download it from the same place).
