On top of that, when you look at the full scale of the galaxy, the population differential basically means that the Empire destroying Alderaan is like the equivalent of a killing ~100 Americans. In comparison, about ~4-600 people are killed by police in America per year. In this way, what seems like a monumental act of evil actually becomes trivial when you recognize the context.
Similarly, everything we see of the Republic confirms what that guy is saying. It's already incompetent, corrupt, and evil. Gonna be honest, I didn't expect we'd have to be a muttalo rebel. I had this grand idea that I'd be a stormtrooper killing them and bolstering my armour.
Frankly the trailer makes it look boring as hell. You're neither the Empire nor the Rebels, you're some third-party "outlaw" (implying a syndicate faction) and it seems that the main plot point will be some kind of heist. The bit about the main character finally being free to do whatever she wants also suggests that the writing will be irritating at best. It just doesn't feel "cool", although I did like the early parts of the trailer showing off the Empire.
Sounds like the opposite of Kenobi where they copied plot points and locations from Fallen Order.
Remember that Solo was originally supposed to be the start of a new project era which would roughly follow the canceled Lucas TV series which was supposed to delve into the criminal underworld, as well as a series of smaller solo movies. Frankly the trailer makes it look boring as hell. You're neither the Empire nor the Rebels, you're some third-party "outlaw" (implying a syndicate faction) and it seems that the main plot point will be some kind of heist. The bit about the main character finally being free to do whatever she wants also suggests that the writing will be irritating at best. It just doesn't feel "cool", although I did like the early parts of the trailer showing off the Empire.

Remember that Solo was originally supposed to be the start of a new project era which would roughly follow the canceled Lucas TV series which was supposed to delve into the criminal underworld, as well as a series of smaller solo movies.
