Sharp at 119 supply, Mini at 68 supply. Mini has a bunch of Carriers and 1 Dragoon at Sharp's natural. Literally in the next frame, 7 Dragoons and 2 Reavers just appear out of thin air. Sharp's supply jumps down to 80 and Mini's up to 95. It's clearly a bugged replay and they switched to the 2nd observer view.
Yet none of Artosis and Tasteless even realized it. Tasteless casually continued "he's got the 2 Reavers over here" while Artosis just commented like nothing unusual happened. I mean, what the frick? You are the casters. Are you both asleep or high?

In StarCraft, detection is not removed immediately when the unit/building providing it goes away. You can see this pretty clearly if you kill a detector, there will be brief period where cloaked units can still be seen. When Blizzard added the observer mode, they mostly reused existing game logic to implement the various features, including switching between different player's vision. At some point they decided that the existing logic around stealth units (that detection would be applied after a delay) was unacceptable for observer mode: they wanted switching to a player's vision to apply the detection status immediately.
So, Blizzard wrote code to call a function to update the sprites for those units immediately, thinking it was safe. *But* that code actually calls through to update the "real" detection status for this unit as well (a value used by the game for simulating actual game logic). If this value differs from the values the actual players have, it risks causing a desync between the players and the observer.
Desyncs are often very subtle, e.g. they may just result in a different amount of random numbers being generated during a particular turn. But these things quickly add up over time: one extra random number during a turn might make a unit miss on one person's game when they hit on everyone else's, which then results in a unit dying when it lived in the "real" game, and then on and on until you get to extremely observable effects: tons of idle workers, units running to their death with no micro, etc.

As an example, Cybernetics Core is needed for Stargate, so if my opponent has only one Cybernetics Core and I destroy it, how does that affect his Stargates? Do they just work normally, or do they get disabled?

They'll work normally, but no new Stargates can be built. As for units and buildings that are in the middle of being built, I don't know and can't be bothered to check.
I'm fairly sure queued units get made no matter what, so if you queued 5 Goliaths and your armory got destroyed while the first one was making, the rest will still be made, but you can't queue any more and if you remove them from the queue, you can't add them back

Playing the campaign and this game is really hard even on normal. I keep getting wiped by zerg and its hard to keep track of what i should be building when trying to establish in a new part of the map.

If there is a ratio, it's not linear and will depend on how the marines are engaging the zerglings as much if not moreso than the raw numbers.
Marines are ranged units so they can maximise their firepower as a group much more easily. Zerglings are melee so they have to worry about things like reaching their target and impeding one another's access to the target both on approach and while attacking.
A single broodwar marine will lose to a single zergling if neither have any upgrades or micro involved but with a nice chokepoint, a good number of marines should be able to hold off infinite zerglings

1v1 multiplayer is the easiest part of the game to make as it doesn't rely on making the computer control units (something that's only worth doing once the unit designs are in a reasonably stable and balanced state). They've only shown that because it's the only part of the game so far in a semi playable state.
Sadly what they've shown so far looks pretty shit and has killed all hype for the game even with co-op and campaign planned.

Very easy. For zerg you need to either rely on her shotgun for aoe or her hellbats which are actually underrated and very good at their job. Defense drones help too. She has the easiest macro out of the terran commanders (except tychus but he's OP in every way) and the only micro she needs is for her hero or a defense drone.

I just can't get into Starcraft's campaign for some reason.
I love the music and the graphics of the game, and the story is charming schlock, but the mission design is fricked and the gameplay doesn't really click with me.
I gave up the first time on the mission where you start out with Duke or whatever his name is and you take over an abandoned base and I gave up the second time on the mission where you're supposed to destroy two (I thought it was only one :/) Protoss bases with Kerrigan while defending the hostile Zerg.
Not really interested in skirmish SP or MP either, since skirmish SP is braindead boring and I'd get whooped in MP and I'm playing on a pirated pre-remaster copy.

The difficulty is not really an issue, I guess I should say the pacing of the gameplay seems a bit fricked (at least until you learn more about the balance of the game itself).

Anyway, I assumes vultures and firebats would only be useful against zerg because flamethrower and frag mines must be good against organic stuff right? And then after only using marines/siege tanks/ goliaths and battlecruisers against the protoss and struggling quite a bit I read that apparently marines are pretty trash without medics and that firebats + vultures are good against protoss.
I didn't explain any of my points because there's probably nothing to explain. I can tell it's a good game and I probably got filtered by it. I guess I'm just becoming too lazy and self-absorbed to start learning new games as I'm getting older.
In conclusion, missions require a time investment and because I'm not familiar with the game balance I sometimes frick it up and waste a bunch of time which frustrates me. And as I said, the game isn't really difficult, so it's not even the mission itself that I lose, I just ragequit after losing a big push because rebuilding takes too long.
It sounds like you just made assumptions about how every unit and ability works, and then never actually checked if that was the case or paid attention to what was happening. No wonder everything feels off to you. You should read the manual and test things out. I haven't played AoM and can't compare them.

Maybe, but there is admittedly a decent time investment in the game. You will have to accept that you might try a hard mission for an hour, realize that your strategy is fundamentally flawed, and then have to sit down and come up with a better one to restart with. It isn't a "reload the save from 40 seconds back and try the battle again" kind of challenge for the most part, unlike most modern games.
I get demoralized after a big loss like that myself, but by the next day I would be willing to try it again. SC is fairly repetitive though and only slightly less macro-focused than Warcraft 2, so don't feel pressured to play it. I like SC but it's far from being the holy grail of single-player gaming. Warcraft 3 has a much more varied campaign, better storytelling, far better quality-of-life features, and better macro/micro split for demands on the player's attention. On the off chance you haven't played it, I would go about that first, and then backtrack to SC if the Blizzard-style RTS bug has bit you by then.

It's a very solid game and one of my favourite games of all time. What I meant with invoking it is that the game has both an in-game encyclopedia and pop-up tooltips (with options to change how detailed they are) that give you information on each unit (raw stats, what counters it has, what it counters, what upgrades or effects affect the unit and so on).
I did play W3 (and actually finished all base game + expansion campaigns on Normal, since Hard filtered me with those fricking Elves in the base Undead campaign) and I found it meh as well, but more so because the low population cap and having to micro so many unit types because abilities are so powerful kinda rubbed me the wrong way. I think I like Starcraft more tbh but I don't know enough about it and I have to get over this shitty subconscious mentality that is spoiling my fun.
But yeah, great music, good looking sprite work, shame I've become too much of a jaded frick to enjoy the actual game.

Well, you do mention that AoM gives you a tooltip that lists what the unit counters are, which is a big step in that direction. The SC designers expect the player to experiment around. Some units are counters in some situations, but not in others, so you have to be flexible. Others are pretty obvious -- tanks can't shoot air, for example. Vultures move really fast and do high damage, so you shouldn't be too surprised that they do well against zealots, because zealots are melee and can't even fight back.

The more the better. When I said that SC was macro-focused, I mean that if your opponent is using his units more tactically, but you have twice as many, you will almost win that encounter. So in general, you want to be mining off as many base locations as you can defend, and pumping troops as quickly as you can, trying to spend that huge income at all times. Then you'll win by overwhelming force, with adjustments to army composition to somewhat react to what your opponent has deployed.
But note that at a "normal" distance from a vespene geyser you can usually only have a max of 3 units harvesting from it. Only one can be in the refinery at a time, so if you build six and set them on the refinery, you'll see that the SCVs just bunch up outside of it and do nothing while they wait around. The number to put on minerals varies due to game state, which is something you'll learn to intuit as you play, but I would aim for 2-3 workers per mineral "segment", as at the upper range of that they'll start to get in each other's way too much.
In general, just try something in the game and see how it works. If it doesn't, try and figure out how you could tweak it to make it work, or if it truly is a dead-end approach. Just pay attention and accept that you might have to restart a mission sometimes.

Funnily enough, that's the most common complaint older AoE fans have about Age of Mythology. The fact that all of the "QoL" features make it too "casual". The most controversial addition being the auto-queue added in the expansion, which, as the name implies, automatically takes your current queue (order and unit types included) and repeats it until the end of time, even freezing it and resuming if you run out of resources.
The game is still chaotic enough with all of it's other features so this doesn't bother me that much.
Because unlike other RTS games I've played, W3 had a very different system in place for economy. In all the other games I've played you kept spamming workers until the very end of the game, but when I tried it in W3, I ended up with a bunch of peasants sitting with their thumbs up their asses. Since this is also a Blizzard title, and an arguably even more influential one, I was expecting some surprises that might catch me off-guard and indeed I did not expect the 2-3 workers on gas limitation. I did notice you need far less on gas than on minerals but I didn't know why, until the post above yours clued me in.
But yeah, I don't have any more questions, just a rough estimate on how my eco should look and a general overview of the damage system is good enough for me, I should be good to go now.

Learning the damage system is fundamental. It isn't listed in-game, but it's mostly intuitive and you can look it up really fast. You might want to keep a screenshot of it or a piece of paper with it nearby for reference until you have it memorized.

Holy shit this is so useful. I WAS going about it the wrong way since I assumed the game was balanced around infantry/cavalry(vehicles/big zerg)/ air units.
How many worker units should I go for btw? As terrans I'm making about 30-40 SCVs and most go on minerals with under 10 on gas. This is good enough most of the time but probably not enough.

Why are you even asking questions like this? It's so strange. Obviously the answer to your question is related to how many minerals and geysers you are mining, and how saturated they are, which you can see just by looking, and what mission you are playing. If you are seriously asking these sort of questions like this just go read one of those online guides that tell you what exactly what to do to win a mission.

Then it just might not be the game for you. If you've spent ten hours trying to play a game and you aren't enjoying it at all, don't keep going. Either come at it from a different perspective / playstyle, or put it down and try it in another year or so. I don't know what your previous experience with SC is, but that should help you judge how much more there is.

SC2 also looked like ass but it had the excuse of being a game made in 2010 and it ran on toasters. Stormgate looks like a WC3 custom game. The disparity in unit designs speak volumes, we've got one cool exo-suit mech and everything else is EMBARASING

Yes. Also if they did "fantasy" in space it would have been much better. This Demon (but they are actually aliens!) vs humans vs the Not Protoss (Angels) doesn't sit well with me.
The demons should've been something like the Burning Legion and the angels just a Protoss clone.

I just want to point out that I owned a 2008 mid-level laptop and it couldn't run SC2 consistently on launch. Even on minimal settings, I had tons of graphical issues (e.g. I remember distinctly that occasionally void rays would just load with no graphics, totally invisible apart from their attacks) and one out of every five matches it would lock up. Was a big disappointment, although I found the game generic compared to BW and lost interest anyway.

Watched a couple games casted by the lead dev, which was an informative way to see how the game compares to BW. Actually quite cool, a lot of interesting ideas. My main concerns are merely aesthetic/graphical. In 6-12 months I would expect this to be quite compelling.
