Starcraft bros... this was our one chance to have the RTS genre revived... The game is bland and boring... Es ist vorbei.

It's so sad. I really wanted to like this game. I'm checking the steam numbers and it's only going down and down... It's almost on the hundreds of people playing now.
How delusional do you need to be to think you can make old style RTS work in current year?
Not very, seeing the success of AoE2 DE.
>sc2 clone by the Blizzard B-team
>offshore contractor coded
I genuinely don't know what you expected.
I'd play this if it didn't look like a riot game
horrible artstyle with awful animations, sc1 looks 1000x times better
To be fair sc1 looks 1000x better than sc2 artstyle-wise
I miss the fleshy zerg
I didn't want the genre revived or want this game tbh. I still play Brood War.
Soulless pajeetslop with fat old blizzboomer logo attached
Its f2p gaas. It was never ever going to be good. The devs themselves didnt even think they would be able to sell any copies or else they would have given it a box price. Enjoy your drip feed content and battlepasses homosexual
Let me guess
>no custom games
>no campaign
>entire focus is 1v1 asiaticclick
How close am I
What Frost Giant needed to do was find one guy who has any idea for a setting and make him the creative director instead of just rehashing shit that you'll never do better than people remember actual Starcraft doing it. The idea doesn't even have to be good it just needs to be something even one person in the world actually wants and from there you can build something that isn't boring as hell.
Why even make these threads?
To bait me into thinking it's released?
You can play it right now, moron.
>FROM THE MINDS THAT KNEW THE CREATORS OF FRANCHISE THAT WAS ONCE GOOD

It's over. RTS is dead. Bury it. Consider this a mercy.
It's not dead.
Way better RTS coming than this pos Stormgate.
AOE4 is dope and COH3 is pretty good too.
I didn't even find a way to practice in the demo, they just throw you in a ranked match against some sweatlord and you get shit on. Terrible way to introduce new players to the game.
To be fair, you have to be a special kind of moron to not have found the AI skirmish mode. The game is still garbage, though.
How about a little tutorial instead? It's like they expect everyone picking the game up to be starcraft veterans.
I'm in the closed beta. The Infernals are an interesting faction, but the humans are so basic-b***h it's almost upsetting. All the fun ideas seem to have gone to the Infernals - shroud, unit splitting, instant-build with limited charges, it's all neat so far. We don't know what the third faction looks like yet, but hopefully they're less bland than the humans are.
I think the devs should have kept it in the oven for a bit longer before going to beta; when the Starcraft 2 beta hit the scene, you could play a full game with a fully realised tech tree. Most of the art assets were in place, and even though you could only do PvP in a closed setting, it was still a fun game to figure out.
Stormgate's not looking special so far. Not "bad", but not special. I don't know why I would play this over SC2, WC3, or hell even Supreme Commander or C&C.
The whole camp system is a massive turn-off as well, I'm not sure what the in-universe reason is for a random stag in the woods shitting out a giant regernative field that can repair mechs, but it seems like a lazy way to incorporate MOBA mechanics into an RTS.
I had a horrible realisation earlier that I was being reminded of Dawn of War 3's hamfisted mechanics, and its desperate attempt to appeal to a broader audience.
are they planning to add more units? I feel like there are only like 4 units for factions
They've locked the tech trees at tier 2, and they've locked (or haven't made) the final 3 'global' abilities. They've also not released hero units yet, which will significantly alter the way the game's played.
As I said, it needed more time to cook. In its current state it's a rather shallow game with not much interesting going on. I've watched a replay of a """"high level"""" game from my fellow beta-orbiters the other day and it was about as energetic as a glass of water.
>that UI
pure slop
I guess creep camps would make more sense with hero units so I don't know why they even bother without them.
It's pretty fricking bland. It's sad because I backed the game and WANTED to like it, but the beta was clearly not a good look for the game. All it made me want to do is reinstall SC2
Tempest Rising looks better
>super fricking bland
>dumb SC2 clone with plastic ass units
>no memorable campaign, no lore, no flavor, no characters
Its like, they totally missed what made Warcaft 2-3 and Starcraft great. People want to give a shit about what is going on the screen, not just random plastic toys schooling like fish and bumping into eachother but a real battle , a spectacle that can be watched and enjoyed, a war that FEELS real. You can make it Brood War autistically polished and balanced on the top of it, but if it does not look and play interesting then who gives a shit, if I wanted a perfectly strategy game I'd play Go. Literally the same shit made Dawn of War good despite being a mechanically dogshit game, I want to see some shit going on the screen, nice visuals, good music, good voice acting, get me immersed into that shit like the excellent sound design of Brood War, the deep growls of Zerg units instead of the random ass burping of SC2, victorious Terran space country-disco beats and Zerg dentist drill rock playing instead of generic "epic" music and so on.
This is why people don't play RTSes lately. Because they are all bland shovelware with no identity or story or flavor or presence. There are no Red Alert 2s anymore, no Tiberium Suns, no Warcraft 3s which you can quote a single line to this day from the campaign and people immediately know where it is from. They have zero vision so they are getting punished for it,
