Todd. Literally Todd. If you haven't yet realized it, once he took over at Bethesda, Todd turned it into his personal development team for games he wants to play.

Pete Hines isn't a developer you spaz. You reddittors constantly posts this image without actually reading it.
And if you really want to be that reductionist about towns in Fallout 4, where does Primm get it's power? where does Goodsprings get its power?
No one wanted FO3, people called it "Oblivion with guns" back then too. It was a completely new franchise, straying considerably from the original games. The FO1/2 fanbase was very skeptical and bethesda fans weren't expecting a new IP from bethesda.

I know. I was there. But once the game was out everyone played Fallout 3 anyway. People who liked Oblivion (a lot of people) also tended to like Fallout 3. The same will probably happen for Starfield as "Skyrim/Fallout in space"
This is why I'm gonna try this game (that and it's on Game Pass so why not), Todd in particular seemed to emphasize in the showcases that "this is the game I wanted to make my entire career and it's all been building towards this. I want this to be my magnum opus"
Yeah, Todd's retiring for good after the next elder scrolls. It's clear that Starfield being shit will just destroy him spiritually. He has every incentive to make it his magnum opus.
Yeah I remember during the 30 minute Starfield showcase at the end of the Xbox E3 direct I remember him saying something like "Oblivion, FO3, Skyrim, FO4, even while we were making those Starfield was always always something we wanted to do, and now that technology has improved further and further we finally have the chance"
>heavily modded FONV
What is it supposed to show?
And don't bullshit me saying it's false, gun movement and animations aren't vanilla, and the visuals give it away too.
NTA but I like to use the 12 gauge variants when I can make them.
I think it was RDR2 that finally broke my stigma with using special ammo, I just realized 'This is gonna be a long game, I'll get more'
Well the top two options offer neither. Whereas the options in the bottom provide a variety of ways to approach combat, enhancing the quality of the game.
If Bethesda had any intelligence they would have allocated resources to develop Starfield and Elder Scrolls at the same time. You cannot just neglect the series that made your company successful in the first place. That would be like Nintendo not releasing Super Mario games. Absolute moronation. >inb4 muh heckin vidya takes a lot of resources to make
Hire more people, open new studios, I don't care, it can be done but they choose not to.
this
bethesda is a collossal failure now because todd howard is stuck in 2011 with skyrim. thats why he keeps rereleasing it over and over, thats why the game is on the same engine over and over, thats why the next TES game is another 5+ years out because he refuses to expand the team
>expand the team
With modern hiring requirements of just essentially 95% dead weight this is probably something worth resisting. Clearly Bethesda has some of these from the behind the scenes vids, but keeping it to a minimum seems smart. An esg built ESVI not directed by Todd wouldn’t be worth playing.
Bethesda's main studio isn't big enough to make 2 of these games at the same time, letting some C team shitters at Bethesda india or wherever work on a mainline TES is a disaster waiting to happen.
That disaster pretty much happened with 76 kek. To be fair Todd just gave them the script and told them to frick of. Rumor has it that he randomly dropped in and told them their ideas were shit.

Of course it's porn lines, it's from the porn part of the game. What do you expect, people to belt out Shakespearian Soliloquies in Bed? >It doesn't NEED to be more than 30 fps on consoles.
Why are you playing Bethesda Games on console? >It doesn't need playable alien races despite 10% of planets having life. >He wants to play Xeno Scum
Cringe. Aliens can never be as good as humankind. >It doesn't MATTER that those 1000 worlds are all randomly generated.
The worlds are made from handcrafted tiles that are procedurally placed together, and then are populated with Handcrafted Locations. They also have ideas for planets beforehand. The level of Randomness isn't No man's Sky, It's more like advanced Random events from TES or Fallout
KEK. Starfield won't have even half of what's going on here. Gamebryo can't into different physics interacting in the same space. Space ships are like dragons, just coded sequences. You can't jump on them and get inside them. You can't fly on a planet. Holy shit their engine is a piece of crap. Todd should stick to more Skyrims.
Well, you would think that having a capable engine for a space game is good. Don't think your bugged MMO pile of code works universally for everything.
>yet another game set in a boring generic primitive medieval setting >same boring old landscapes as far as the eye can see >with the added bonus of looking like shit because there's foliage everywhere and most games can't make good-looking foliage with current technology
no thanks
vs. >diverse environments not limited to the boring grey-brown-green earth palette because it's set in space >modern aesthetics that look better with current rendering technology >cooler aesthetics in general as opposed to shit like generic boring plate armour
Diamond City Blues alone has more choices than your top example. And unlike NV main story choices completely change the last quarter of the story.
Seethe. Cope. And, obviously, dilate.
>Diamond City Blues alone has more choices than your top example
No it doesn't. You can kinda sequence break the quest, but it only has two real divergent points. Which is still more than most in the game.
Also, the last quarter of the story only changes if you side with the Institute or not. Siding with the RR, BoS, or Minutemen is virtually the same outcome, you just get offered some different quests.
>Why did they chase the space game trend instead
Todd released a list of games he wanted to do in 2007, one of them was a post-apocalypse game and the other was a space game
>instead of making ES6
What difference does it make?
Bethesda is a one trick pony, they always make the exact same game but with a different theme. Just make a "Skyfield" mod where Skyrim is modded into Starfield and there you have your ES6.
REMINDER YOU DONT NEED TO BUY FIRST
It's a Bethesda game, highly moddable, and running on the same (but upgraded) engine.
YOU CAN DO THE FOLLOWING: >Someone will upload the game 5 days early, as this is a pre order bonus >download said game via your pirate of choice >enjoy it, perhaps buy in the future >copy paste everything but the exe files into your steam folder, as well as save to necessary folder >game will run like normal
All you miss out on is achievements. Mods, your save and whatever else will always be there.
This might sound strange to you OP but Skyrim being released so many times it's essentially a CoD-tier yearly franchise in and of itself may have something to do with it.
>NASApunk instead of 50 random aliens races walking around with humans
Yeah, there is going to be space magic and some intelligent life will be in the later stages of the game but just looking at armor and factions its pretty fricking boring. That one dude has duct tape over his face shield, is this Fallout?
Eh, almost every lifeform on planets is some giant 10 feet six legged bug creature that attacks on sight. That's alien life according to Bethesda science. It's like if aliens visiting Earth and saw nothing but bears and tigers everywhere. Yawn. Most of life should be tiny to small, with rare sightings of larger animals whose behavior is complex.
unlikely, Bethesda have talked about needing to balance the AI so the carnivores don't eat all the herbiovores, so I doubt all the fauna is is hostile 6ft bug aliens
Even in New Atlantis you have 10 feet bug creatures just across the water ready to devour any human strolling by. That seems to be the prevalent life form on every planet, and I'm not even kidding. In the other Western-styled town they have hung up corpses of some giant bugs on its wall too, based on the artwork. This is what I'm gathering when I'm looking at the material...

Wait so the fauna is the same on every planet? Did the fricking space animals discover interplanetary travel as well?

It's Bethesda's alien biology logic. Walk a short distance from some building away and suddenly Starship Troopers giant aggressive bugs come at you. I'm sure they have some variation but how many "muh interesting" alien bugs can you really make? If they are all big and aggressive, they will all start to look the same after a while. This is why I said earlier I would hope their behavior is more complex and that they were more rare. The game could have interesting animal photography or hunting mechanics if the animals were not all these aggressive bugs. Oh well, maybe modders can add this content later.

What is your obsession with bugs. There were not that many bug aliens.

Lol. Watch the gameplay footage. Look at the concept art. What do they all have in common? Quadrupedal or more seemingly oversized insects ready to eat everything that moves. I've yet to see an ecology that seems to work on any level. People are going to ask "what do they eat?" a lot with this game.

It's clearly implied from the direct that not all animals are aggressive and ready to attack on sight.
Space is for cool nerds that want to be the greatest humans that ever lived (brave explorers, astronauts, badass scientists that dont just sit in some gay lab).
Elves are for fat pigmen
If bethesda had the courage to ignore the irrelevant 'what do they eat' nonsense that NV zealots used as a real talking point, we would have gotten more features in fo4 instead of the wholly superfluous, and pointless settlement system
the settlement system is the core design feature of Fallout 4 you fricking moron
Its like saying we could've had more fetch quests if skyrim didn't have dragons
In 2009 this mod was released, iirc Todd was inspired by this mod or a similar mod, that is why there is a settlement system in FO4.
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/7070
Sci-fi exploration sucks my ass off. Literally the most bland shit, there's no limiters therefore creativity gets spread too thin or on the other end of thing they just recreate star trek/star wars again and again. Fantasy, apocalyptic, and atmospheric horror are the only good settings for open world exploration.
That's stupid. If they actually had a purpose like say passive source of crafting materials or money (mining outpost or space gas/oil refinery) I do that but nah, frick living on some barren planet
Yeah, that's a sim. Simulation of something. You don't seem to understand. Steam is full of sims for autists, and space happens to be one avenue. Starfield is just popping up on a map after a loading screen and shooting up some bandits, then going back to base building and modifying your guns.
>chase the space game trend
they care not for the trend >people rag on FO3 because its not like the previous games >original FO devs end up in obsidian and get given a chance to work on FO again >they one up todd by slapping ironsights on his engine and anons slop it up >todd retaliates by making FO4 with much improved gunplay >obsidian peace out and make a spacegame with lesbian haircuts >todd is now making his own spacegame with blackjack and hookers that will shit all over outer worlds and their lesbian haircuts
God Outer Worlds had the stupidest end goal, grandpa Rick tells you to unfreeze the 100 Colonists and starts going on about the Colonists are a bunch of ubermensch scientists doctors athletes etc and how they're going to work to fix the colony.
...Yeah, that's not gonna go pic related immediately right? No way.
>the space game trend
what? space games in AAA have never been deader
i fricking miss mass effect because now everything is fantasyslop, no destiny doesn't count that's sci fantasy and it sucks
The only planets worth visiting are so far away a normal human has no chance of ever living to see them. The night sky is pretty, but Mars is fricking boring.

And the thing which matter is your cope in every single thread
It does have half of those, the other half are irrelevant.
>It doesn't HAVE to have ground vehicles
>It doesn't need aquatic vehicles.
>It doesn't need flyable ships in a planets atmosphere.
>It doesn't matter the collectors edition doesn't come with a disc
It really doesn't. Also, Call me when you find another space game that has aquatic vehicles you can use.
>It doesn't NEED to have real directional lighting that effects the enviroment.
>It doesn't need a modern engine.
>It doesn't need to have expressive dialogue animations.
>It doesn't need fallout 4's character body customizer.
>It doesn't need good gunplay.
>It doesn't need to have interesting world designs.
It has those.
>It doesn't need playable alien races despite 10% of planets having life.
>It doesn't need every world to be a bing-bing yahoo world full of life for autists on Ganker
>It doesn't matter that the dialogue is porn tier quality
>Complaint literally based on the leaked dialogue from sleeping with companions.
>Call me when you find another space game that has aquatic vehicles you can use.
lmao
snoy
space > fantasy
literally no difference
>space = fantasy
Black person can't understand why the white man would dream of exploring space.
I'm excited
Wha game is this? looks kino
Some indie game called Hyperspace.
>stops mid-air
bruh
KEK. Starfield won't have even half of what's going on here. Gamebryo can't into different physics interacting in the same space. Space ships are like dragons, just coded sequences. You can't jump on them and get inside them. You can't fly on a planet. Holy shit their engine is a piece of crap. Todd should stick to more Skyrims.
>more features=more gooder
Do Bethesda haters really?
Well, you would think that having a capable engine for a space game is good. Don't think your bugged MMO pile of code works universally for everything.
Spacebourne 2 ?
?t=351
Spacebourne 2 generates everything with AI.
>yet another game set in a boring generic primitive medieval setting
>same boring old landscapes as far as the eye can see
>with the added bonus of looking like shit because there's foliage everywhere and most games can't make good-looking foliage with current technology
no thanks
vs.
>diverse environments not limited to the boring grey-brown-green earth palette because it's set in space
>modern aesthetics that look better with current rendering technology
>cooler aesthetics in general as opposed to shit like generic boring plate armour
>Ahah yes fellow Gankerner, I too am hyped for Fallout 4 in space. The marketing showman guy is totally passionate about it!
Siding with the RR, BoS, or Minutemen is virtually the same outcome, you just get offered some different quests.
>most choices lead to the same outcome
Medieval fantasy is gay homosexual shit. Space is for Chads.
>DUDE I CAN'T WAIT FOR Black folk AND TRANNIES IN SPACE
>Why did they chase the space game trend instead
Todd released a list of games he wanted to do in 2007, one of them was a post-apocalypse game and the other was a space game
they're making both, moron
>ES6 which people actually want?
I dont want it
they can stop with Elder Scroll games forever for all I care
>instead of making ES6
What difference does it make?
Bethesda is a one trick pony, they always make the exact same game but with a different theme. Just make a "Skyfield" mod where Skyrim is modded into Starfield and there you have your ES6.
>3 weeks out
>no leaks yet
We got leaks like two years ago.
>ES6 which people actually want?
good joke, mate.
REMINDER YOU DONT NEED TO BUY FIRST
It's a Bethesda game, highly moddable, and running on the same (but upgraded) engine.
YOU CAN DO THE FOLLOWING:
>Someone will upload the game 5 days early, as this is a pre order bonus
>download said game via your pirate of choice
>enjoy it, perhaps buy in the future
>copy paste everything but the exe files into your steam folder, as well as save to necessary folder
>game will run like normal
All you miss out on is achievements. Mods, your save and whatever else will always be there.
This might sound strange to you OP but Skyrim being released so many times it's essentially a CoD-tier yearly franchise in and of itself may have something to do with it.
because i need something to play until mass effect 4 comes out
>NASApunk instead of 50 random aliens races walking around with humans
Yeah, there is going to be space magic and some intelligent life will be in the later stages of the game but just looking at armor and factions its pretty fricking boring. That one dude has duct tape over his face shield, is this Fallout?
Eh, almost every lifeform on planets is some giant 10 feet six legged bug creature that attacks on sight. That's alien life according to Bethesda science. It's like if aliens visiting Earth and saw nothing but bears and tigers everywhere. Yawn. Most of life should be tiny to small, with rare sightings of larger animals whose behavior is complex.
Yet that's what footage shows us. And the reality is probably worse given Bethesda's history.
unlikely, Bethesda have talked about needing to balance the AI so the carnivores don't eat all the herbiovores, so I doubt all the fauna is is hostile 6ft bug aliens
You saw one bug and got mad. That's kind of weird.
You post another humongous creature. All animals are massive on Bethesda's planets. Life is just big monsters to them. There is no mystery or discovery. No sense of wonder. You will get bored in a second of these moronic charging beasts.
OK.
It's clearly implied from the direct that not all animals are aggressive and ready to attack on sight.
>That one dude has duct tape over his face shield
So you're complaining that Bethesda actually stick to this whole NASApunk?
>That one dude has duct tape over his face shield
Now what, homosexual?
>sealing things tight with duct tape, that we do even on earth
Fine
>sealing the eye socket of a helmet with duct tape
come on now
NASA-Punk is great. Human ingenuity at it's finest with simple things.
I'm more interested in Starfield than TES VI. i'm honestly kind of finished with that franchise, I don't care about Tamriel much anymore.
>the space game trend
meds
well bg3 is already filling that generic fantasy spot, so some Todd space kino will be very refreshing
I actually wanted a Expanse like game like Starfield for 10 years.
>Why did they chase the space game trend instead of making ES6
Why make another Elder Scrolls game when Skryim still sells?
Probably waiting for the tech to improve for Skyrim 2
>Hammerfell
Well sorry but I rather exploring space.
Hammerfell+High Rock and the water in-between for sailing. Don't lose hope yet my friend.
Brace yourselves for the game of the century.
Its like saying we could've had more fetch quests if skyrim didn't have dragons
no, its not
weighty claims require weighty proof
Settlement system is a trend spanning many games by many companies. Just trench chasing, no one cares about the what do they eat crowd
I forget, did they confirm settlements? I just want to live on my space boat like Cowboy Bebop or Space Dandy
Yes, 3 minutes showing how you can hire npcs and place lego blocks on empty planets.
What are they for?
jerk off I guess
That's stupid. If they actually had a purpose like say passive source of crafting materials or money (mining outpost or space gas/oil refinery) I do that but nah, frick living on some barren planet
because Starcitizen fans are STILL donating millions to their project.
I genuinely feel like they want to somehow tap into that free money stream.
Because Star Citizens are into space sims. You however post in a Fallout thread where the game happens to have a different paint job.
No they're not. They're into things like shitting mechanics and waiting three minutes for a train.
Yeah, that's a sim. Simulation of something. You don't seem to understand. Steam is full of sims for autists, and space happens to be one avenue. Starfield is just popping up on a map after a loading screen and shooting up some bandits, then going back to base building and modifying your guns.
All of this talk about Fallout...
Take the 76 pill.
I actually really enjoyed 76
like it has flaws but it's a bethesda game
that is to be expected
You can bet they will release an online version of Starfield if the game is successful enough.
My issue is why chase the boring "realistic" space trend?!
No aliens races, or fantastical shit.
This looks like a nasa simulator with some combat.
Todd put in some hard work since morrowind, let him have his space game. I'm okay with waiting longer for es6 under the hope that it will be better
>chase the space game trend
they care not for the trend
>people rag on FO3 because its not like the previous games
>original FO devs end up in obsidian and get given a chance to work on FO again
>they one up todd by slapping ironsights on his engine and anons slop it up
>todd retaliates by making FO4 with much improved gunplay
>obsidian peace out and make a spacegame with lesbian haircuts
>todd is now making his own spacegame with blackjack and hookers that will shit all over outer worlds and their lesbian haircuts
No way.
wonder what kind of story starfield is going to pull out
>the space game trend
what? space games in AAA have never been deader
i fricking miss mass effect because now everything is fantasyslop, no destiny doesn't count that's sci fantasy and it sucks
Let him cook
>go outside at night
>look up
>pshh lame think I'll go frick an orc
what is wrong with the human race?
The only planets worth visiting are so far away a normal human has no chance of ever living to see them. The night sky is pretty, but Mars is fricking boring.
Zenimax asked them not to in order to grift people into playing ESO.
so now that todd works for melinda gates' husband instead of linda carters husband will we get clippy voicing azura instead of wonder woman?
