Ok this is a huge spoiler. There are aliens in the game and the plot revolves around them
Is it? The trailer made it pretty obvious
Can we frick them?
We can alwaya frick them. The question is when will the mod came out
There are some enemy critters that they fight in the trailer, but it appears to be human heavy game, which is puzzling. Even Fallout games had mutants and zobies, and even mutant companions. Here the world is filled only with humans crated in the old Skyrim character creator.
>Here the world is filled only with humans crated in the old Skyrim character creator.
The whole plot of the game seems to be finding something out there, so either they will pull a Halo/Borderlands and say "there were super advanced aliens, but theyre long dead" and at most you'll find their robots and/or some messages left by them, or they'll introduce actual aliens halfway through
That's just boring. You're saying they made this game for 20 years, and couldn't just import a few Khajit models for furies to frick in zero g? And why are human models still Oblivion quality?
Its boring because you are a brainlet
>WAHHH I NEED MUH ALIUMS
The game has been in development for like 7 years at most, the 25 years ago was just them exaggerating the fact that Todd had been thinking about making a Space Game since the late 90s.
You would think there would be Androids/Snyths in the future when they already exist in Fallout 4. Or man made humanoid species similar to the Space Elves in Banner of the Stars anime.
Yeah I'm pretty sure if modern humans got to the necessary tech level to colonize space they'd be making furries and elves and catgirls real.
why would they make androids when that Vasco robot exists?
one or two ancient races that left behind rare artifacts > unevolved single celled tide pool = no aliens whatsoever > mushrooms and plants >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> star wars canteena
Did you see the adoring fan reveal. No way that is human.
Well one npc in the trailer or ga eplay yesterday expected aliens to board, not humans
yeah that was weird. what were they trying to imply? that they were so isolated they didnt know the galaxy is full of humans on planets and ships? why would they automatically assume theyre being boarded by aliens and not just another isolated group of humans?
i doubt theres a deeper meaning and its just shit writing.
>i doubt theres a deeper meaning and its just shit writing
Lol probably right
It's their Ghoul Kid in tye Fridge moment
Probably a slow ship colony that left Earth during what they thought was an apocalypse and assumed everyone else died when they lost contact.
>find this lost colony from earth
>board and interact with them
>inform them of what humanity has done
>help them with a quest
>walk past a food item from new atlantis on your way out
You do know there are real examples on Earth of soldiers defending their post long after the war they were in was over right?
They were asiatics
He’s asking why they’re surprised that the player’s ship are humans, when there don’t seem to be intelligent aliens. As in, why did they assume aliens rather than just another group of humans that they previously didn’t know about. Spacefaring aliens would be a much more outlandish assumption
Cleetus today believes in aliens and he doesn't have the added benefit of complete isolation for who knows how long and the assumption that pretty much most of human life is gone
Why is he holding a modern gun in the footage?
The guns they're holding could have been designed 50 years ago? The 1911 design has been around for 100+ years
No you see the same gun in the vendor list from a company only a decade old.
they look like they're holding basic as frick 1911s
I made it up so you would grab me a screenshot
It would be cool if they only have retro guns like we seen so far but I doubt it.
She all of humanity was wiped out in 50 years according to these guys and they were the only humans ever to escape?
"alien" doesn't strictly mean non-human, in fact we use it all the time to refer to people who simply don't belong, like illegal-aliens. In a space-faring sci-fi setting, you should expect the term alien to be used a lot more liberally, even if it's just among humans.
I assumed that was an NPC from some sort of funny questline in which you encounter an isolated group of humans who think they're the only ones around
Would have to be some ancient colony ship after cryo. I'm sure even if this is the case they will have recent guns in their hands lol
Does the alien jerky item kean anything?
*Fallout doesn't have races*
>That is okay, I will make a mod to fix that.
*Starfield doesn't have races*
>How can this be?! I am fuming rn! Damn you Todd you hack!
fallout takes place in a slightly different version of our earth and there ARE other races of sentient creatures, they just arent playable
Fallout does have other sentient races, thougheverbeit.
fallout with the exception of NV (which still didn't have any race options) didn't have any real reason to let you play as a ghoul or whatever, usually you start off in a vault or with the BoS who are so aggressively against mutants that it wouldn't make any sense to recruit one. this is a big open space game that to my knowledge doesn't have any real reason to not let you be an ayy lmao. I think fallout should just let you be a ghoul or supermutant or particularly intelligent deathclaw but its never had the justification for it where this is basically free game and they still didn't do it.
>this is a big open space game that to my knowledge doesn't have any real reason to not let you be an ayy lmao
Uhhhh because the entire game's plot revolves around finding aliens?
making the trailer NPC whose surprised NOT to see aliens even weirder. it seems like the actual story has about frickall to do with the setting. plus looking for aliens doesn't mean they can't already have them, could just be some kind of recruitment for a galactic alliance and you're still on the lookout for more. I'm just saying the setting and story isn't as restricted as fallout's where new species can just exist and be played with no conflict
Because making first contact with an intelligent species is probably the biggest milestone in space exploration and that feeling would be completely devalued by Quizard Xenu being right next to you
>Space magic
oh frick, they'll put magic in a future Fallout won't they?
what do you think radiation is in the context of Fallout?
yeah, you're right
>The fricking ghoul magician in Nuka World who literally said he got powers thanks to radiation
ngl, im surprised it took them this long since psychics were always a thing
Radiation is supposed to just make things grow big in Fallout. FEV can unlock certain psychic potential in humans though, but none of that really matters in Bethesda's Fallouts.
Well people were joking about F4 having Rad Shouts and they managed to avoid doing it.
Am I the only fricking person here who kind of enjoys the fact that the game doesnt have aliens? Most space games nowadays feature alien races. This one not having them and instead having the search for intelligent life be part of the story is kind of refreshing. Plus maybe it could end with a first contact. And a sequel or expansion following up oj those events.
>This one not having them and instead having the search for intelligent life be part of the story is kind of refreshing. Plus maybe it could end with a first contact. And a sequel or expansion following up oj those events.
this is obviously what they're going for, but it's Bethesda, so i wouldn't be surprised if you found actual aliens haflway through the game
>this is obviously what they're going for, but it's Bethesda, so i wouldn't be surprised if you found actual aliens haflway through the game
Would be so disappointing. The end of the game should absolutely be a first contact type of event.
>The end of the game should absolutely be a first contact type of event
shill post. which is sad because that confirms that this is the ending, which means no ayylmaos.
wtf bros how could todd do this? what a moron.
How am I shilling? Stating my opinion that the game having first contact as its climax is shilling? Again tons of space games have aliens from the jump, its basically a given nowadays. Seriously name one other space game where first contact is the climax
>mmmmm yes, 1000000 planets that has developed fauna and feral creatures
>And not a single humanoid race besides humans, not even a small fricking primitive settlement with spears
Are you moronic. What is the point of sci-fi game if there is no aliens? That's just illogical, to not have even a single small alien colony. Go fricking play Microsoft flying simulator or Fallout or something. Fricking Sci-fi without aliens is "ok" now, holy shit. Frick you, Frick Todd.
>all sci fi MUST have intelligent aliens
Fricking cringe homosexual. Also I guess you missed the part where I said making first contact should be the climax of the game
planets that has developed feral creatures
Can't wait to frick them all
Idk lonely explorers searching desperately for others like themselves but not finding anything kinda seems kino
You can only explore 1000 planets, if you think intelligent alien life was so common you'd think we'd see some sign of them by. Most planets we know about aren't even livable by most lifeforms
>Fricking Sci-fi without aliens is "ok" now, holy shit. Frick you, Frick Todd.
Gayest thing I've ever seen typed. You think swearing like a big boy is an argument or something? Might as well just say "Oh my god I literally can't even".
OMG WHY IS THIS FANTASY GAME DON'T HAVE DWARVES?
it does have dwarves, theyre just all dead
I'm calling it now the alien race they're looking into are just ancient humans who seeded Earth
>a sequel or expansion following up oj those events
Oh boy see you in 12 years if I don't fricking die.
12 years ? you crazy boy, elder scrolls 6 will take 5 years minimum, then its fallout 5.
Found the plebbit user
To sell you an 80 dollar DLC that adds them in of course
"We need you to kill these space bandits"
>you kill 10 guys in red space suits
"Nicely done, now kill these space marauders"
>you kill 15 guys in green space suits"
"Alright time to shake it up rookie, here's some beasts that have been bothering us"
>you kill 20 space pigs
"You're a force to be reckoned with. Can you handle these space rogues?"
>you kill 25 guys in yellow space suits and one guy in a yellow space power armor
Name 5 examples of Bethesda quests like this
Most of the guild/faction questlines in Morrowind.
I don't think it is fair to drag up the ancient games and try to hold them to modern standards.
there was literally one like this being given in the trailer lmao. It’s so over
The time period for Starfield is quite modest, bring early 24th century. I can see a situation where that sequel is a millennium after and has aliens around
we will all be too old when that comes out
Why is there no gore like there is in Fallout?
Why would there be you sicko?
Yikes much?
What the frick is the point of a space game with no aliens?
>What the frick is the point of a space game with no aliens?
Anon, Fallout under bethesda is basically a fantasy game cosplaying as a post-apocalyptic game, this will be no different, especially since space magic is confirmed
How is exploration going to work if there are entire locations and outposts procedurally generated? Are you just supposed to hope whatever you see in the distance is handcrafted content?
The locations aren't procedurally genned, where they are placed is.
The Industrial Station, Civilian Station, Science Station, etc buildings are not handcrafted. Those are copy pasted locations for radiant quests. The "key locations" they talked about are the handcrafted unique locations you typically see in Bethesda games.
You idiots realize this game is taking place around our own solar system right? Jemison or whatever is literally in Alpha Centauri. You can see the Sol system in the fricking trailer. Do you homosexuals actually expect an alien civ that close to us?
Yes chud. I expect ALIENS in a SPACE rpg game. God you homosexuals are the worse
>yes chud I expect aliens in a game that takes in solar systems right beside our own
>intelligent aliens are literally fricking everywhere trust the science
They're ludicrously close together in the world of the game where everything else is much further out.
Besides, the game is literally about unearthing some alien shit so yes, they did exist in the world of thise game which also has alien life all over.
Thats what im getting at. This game takes place literally in the solar systems surrounding our own. It would be fricking moronic to say "oh yeah there is an intelligent civilization in Alpha Centauri." There being so much wild life is already a stretch but fine, considering the fact that none of the stars near our own have planets conducive towards life, but sure maybe you can argue lower forms of life we cant detect.. I have zero issues if they want to say "oh yeah we are finding relics of intelligent life near us." since again its not something we would know and could be in the realm of possibility
>would be fricking moronic to say "oh yeah there is an intelligent civilization in Alpha Centauri."
No one is saying this.
This whole thread is morons b***hing about there not being hyper advanced aliens in solar systems surrounding our own.
You mean in a video game that already has aliens species in it and an "extinct" one?
You're a genuine nut
>YOU CANT HAVE INTELLIGENT ALIESN BECAUSE THATS NOT LIKE REAL LIFE!!
Fiction anon.
FICTION STILL HAS TO MAKE SOME SORT OF SENSE homosexual. IT MAKES NO SENSE FOR AN ADVANCED ALIEN SPECIES TO BE A MERE 4 LIGHT YEARS AWAY
An extinct alien civilization is fine that close. No issues with that. Im even okay with animals and other fauna. But having some hyper advanced intelligent species in a 10 light year radius around earth is pants on head moronic
>dead ones are okay
Kek
You're fricking seething now lad
How? Please explain how? Coming across some long gone alien species is fine. Could make sense given the setting. Sorry you are moronic.
No. But being a degenerate fricking coomer like this anon
is a mental illness.
Is this mental illness?
>FICTION STILL HAS TO MAKE SOME SORT OF SENSE homosexual. IT MAKES NO SENSE FOR AN ADVANCED ALIEN SPECIES TO BE A MERE 4 LIGHT YEARS AWAY
Blah blah blah you sound like a raging homosexual anon, it's simple really. Alien waifus = good game, no aliens = trash
They are on our planet right now anon, why do you think Obama and Hillary bleed blue blood?
>makes up something to get upset about
Okay anon
It's a video game anon, Space Engine is still there.
Space Engine isnt a game
That's exactly what the posts says by saying Space engine is separate to a video game
>Reading comprehension
It's a work of fiction, who gives a frick? You have autism.
All that bullshit about throwing grenades while flying and changing between melee and depending on encounter. No one does that in reality, right?
You pick a gun and you stick with it until you get a better gun. Every single fight gets solved the same way, a hail of bullets.
The way they try to hype finding your own playstyle smells a lot like "make your own fun because we've given up on making the fights engaging". Dumbass enemy AI the exact same as Fo4 I bet. They didn't even mention enemy AI once, and that used to be one of the most important thing when showing a new game.
Every single location they have shown so far apart from the big cities they briefly showed off seems to be procedurally generated. All I saw [x] Outpost/Station.
Exploring ancient ayleid- sorry, ALIEN ruins is what I'm looking forward to the most. I want to bring face hugger eggs back to earth.
Can't wait to become space-thane of Outer Rimhold. Maybe I can buy a habitat pod in the giant capital city of almost twenty houses.
ITT: seething furgays
In 2330, cloning and DNA manipulation should be so common that you wouldn't need aliens. We'd make our own mutants that can live without water on desert planets or with hollow bird bones for constant zero-G living.
>In 2330, cloning and DNA manipulation should be so common that you wouldn't need aliens. We'd make our own mutants that can live without water on desert planets or with hollow bird bones for constant zero-G living
have you heard of Wrought Flesh?
It's litterally the story of the game :
Is there intelligent life out there?
have you been paying attention?
>Is there intelligent life out there?
Yeah, but having the ending be a first contact scenario sounds too artsy fartsy for Bethesda
They'll appear halfway through and be le evil and humans will perservere by banishing them into ancient elder scrolls through the power of unity and bringing all the factions together.
You guys act like aliens would dramatically change the game, they're just going to be human in a different costume, they'll still speak english, their culture will just be derivative of one already found on Earth. Parts of human culture in starfield is already bound to be alien to the one's in current day Earth
>Parts of human culture in starfield is already bound to be alien to the one's in current day Earth
They're not, and that's the unfortunate thing. Every single place will be exactly like the US, with the exact same 2023 morals and sensibilities. One will have an old west coat of paint, another might even look like an authoritarian democracy but I can assure you that there will only be a radically different culture to the baseline of the US if we're fighting it.
Jesus this post is brain dead you act like adding green humanoid men is going to change this. Most space scifi with aliens is like this numb nuts where the humans may as well be just Americans
Mention a single sci-fi game where aliens are genuinely alien
Yeah cool story nerd but consider this:
Alien babes are my fetish
You be able to mod them in, replace a faction with an alien skin and you're good to go. It's not like bethesda are capable of modeling attractive aliens anyways
Don't forget, their "largets character customization options" include first person dialogue (and no voiced MC) where you can't see the character you so painstakingly customized, and everyone will be of exactly the same height. As always.
So hardly surprising. Bethesda games have never been about the world or the characters. They are walking simulators and farmer/trash collector sims. And for that, Starfield will deliver like never before. Almost 1000 empty planets and the vastness of space for you to walk and collect trash on!
>and no voiced MC)
Like this isn't a good thing?
Not when it results in exclusively in 1:st person dialogue. The most boring, unimmersive experience ever.
Oh, you're underaged.
furries lost
furries will fix the game and mod in the missing alien races.
Why?
Why wouls you want aliens
You guys are really only finding out about this now? Did you think Starfield was a Star Wars space opera or something?
As, someone said in a previous thread. It leans hard sci-fi without the alien attribute for the most part. Which I find somewhat asinine since we have dishonored tier powers in the game so. My best guess is they'll be towards act 2 or 3
I can't play a Bethesda game unless I can self impose my prejudice of existing nations onto the people of the game's world
All you need, and all you should WANT, are humans. Human cultures are varied enough that any moronic beastfolk tribes or dwarves or elves and aliens are just redundant at best. Indeed, in most writing circles, using derivative nonhumans is actually looked down on. After all, there are very few cases where a nonhuman is warranted. It's almost always better to just use a human. This was the past and is the future.
