>new difficulty
>new items
>new raid bosses.
I'm not sure if they fixed the one issue I had which was the grindy trait farming for gear which was effectively a gatcha for a single player game. Still, the call of a harder difficulty and more challenge is tempting me hard. I may need to go back in.
No hype at all? Just me? Damn...
Whoaa
That’s cool
It might just be wishful thinking but did it look like sword dance actually staggered that enemy near the end?
I wasn't looking too closely but the extra 10 Wiseman assists looked neat.
I'm curious if the new difficulty will tackle the bloody armor "exploit" or not.
Honestly I would say for the lower difficulties you're not going to need to use your brain too much. This is more so depending on how you equip your characters and what skills you have them use. And most respects you can affect the difficulty yourself depending on how much you want to break the game. I would argue the strategy plays more into how easy do you want your game to be with the exploits that you do use since the meta of the game pretty much revolves around breaking it.
For instance, I always grind a little in the mountains north of cross Castle to break the game before I even leave the first continent.
Frankly I’m just glad Ashton’s ultimate weapon isn’t ass anymore, it apparently lost fire damage and all its attacks hit weakness automatically.
Huh, i was thinking of getting it so this is nice timing.
Hope that new Chaos difficulty is available from the get go.
I played half of one playthrough and didn't finish it. Maybe I'll go back
Is the actual combat and battle system in this game good at all? I just want to use my brain.
It's like Tales of where you go into a fight and it plays like an ARPG
How complex are we talking? Tales combat can range from Graces F amazing to Symphonia or Vesperia levels of garbage. As long as I have to think during battles and there's some variety or something to master that makes learning the systems worthwhile I'm fine with it.
>Graces F amazing
Graces F lolcow, is that you? storming ever tales thread gaslighting anons that graces f is "good"? lmao
>storming ever tales thread gaslighting anons that graces f is "good"?
We only say that combat-wise. It's the best in the series in that regard.
99% of combat is decided before it starts. It's all based on equipment and other preparation. Beyond that it's just spamming.
It was weird that Allen didn't have a portrait when he did in the psp version.
>new gear
i sleep, give me so3.
Goodnight weeb
The devs are ashamed of SO3 and it "big twist", is their DMC2 which means they will never touch it again.
they did reapproach it with the gacha game, by basically treating a twist as its own separate continuity but having the rest of the events unfold historically in-universe. so basically they wrote in the excuse to be able to ignore the 4D stuff as much as they want
That sounds like Dante making fun of the events of DMC2, he literally says "i don't remember that".
Uh ..they are actually adding such big update? I guess the game did well? SE never posted a milestone sales celebration for it.
I think it did better than people were expecting. The reason it did as well as it did is because it gave (most) fans what they wanted. An SO2 release on PC with a few quality of life fixes. There was some extra stuff sprinkled on as well but being able to buy the SO2 and play it on your PC without any emulation hurdles was nice.
The game moves at a pretty brisk pace. You can beat it in 20 hours if you're playing casually.
I'm interested in this game but I already have a problem dropping longer games so I'm pretty sure I would never finish this.
I want VeghEsther's thoughts on this update before I say anything about it.
That's cool, it might be time for my Claude playthrough
An update? With new content? Holy shit SEPbros we're so back.
Instead of Assault Actions the Wisemen should be playable.
I just wanna point out whoever is presenting this has the voice of a huge homosexual.
Fits the fanbase
this game is on my wishlist but im not paying more than 30 bucks for it.
>im not paying more than 30 bucks for it.
Close enough? GMG has a sale currently.
Fair enough. I bought it on launch day for the most part after trying the demo. It's one of my favorite games so I couldn't resist. Generally speaking, it's a slightly above par jrpg at best in many respects so I can understand not wanting to pay full price. Especially if you're not wearing the nostalgia goggles like myself.
But is the writing significantly better than First Depature? Because that game was so insultingly stupid that it turned me off from the series entirely.
I would say yes. Having played the SNES Star Ocean as well as the PSP remake first departure, I will agree that the story gets somewhat disjointed and schizo. SO2 by contrast has an arguably more linear plot that doesn't have you backtracking and wondering around in a seemingly aimless fashion for portions of the story the way SO1 did. It focuses heavily on the relationship between Claude and Rena and each section of the story throughout the game has little bookends that let you know you're ready to move on to the next part of the story. I think you'll find the story presentation better overall.
>doesn't have you backtracking
>literally has you returning to the first planet that got blown up to do postgame stuff
imagine the smell
Postgame content is not backtracking you moron
This remake came out and was quickly forgotten despite being so good.
It got robbed, this is the best remake I've played in years. The tactics ogre one was fine but not nearly as good as so2r.
I can't believe this game didn't win a Gankerga award. Rigged bullshit.
Oh, cool.
The Gankergas is and always have been a joke. I watched the first one and decided never again.
SEP
People say the game is easy so I did put it on the hardest difficulty at the start but outside of the tutorial/demo area, it's not a cake walk. What am I missing that veterans know about that leads them to say the game is a joke and not hard enough?
The game is hard until you start getting skills that give you an unfair advantage. So the first 10% is a bit challenging but after that you should be on your way to being a death merchant. Then some of the postgame battles are hard by design (2 of the hidden angel bosses at the same time really wrecked my shit).
The new chaos difficulty sounds rough, I barely completed the fun city arena battles as it is.
Can you change difficulties whenever you want or are you locked in?
I think you can change them whenever. If you lower the difficulty you didn't beat the game though.
Is this gonna be the last update we get? I wasn't expecting this, but if they're down to keep adding content I will keep playing and buying copies for friends (they won't play it).
