i personally use the slag smelting hullmod from prv starworks which turns ore into metal with supply crafting and fuel crafting which turn metal and heavy machinery into supplies and then supplies into fuel
this way i can go around the sector forever except until i need credits which i still need to make from exploration/selling stuff
the hullmod scales with ship size so you will need an atlas or something to put it on to do anything
its a nice way to larp as a salvager/explorer without having to rely on core worlds almost at all

Mostly I'm working on increasing the variety of vanilla-like portraits and giving vanilla factions (
) portraits unique to them, like making Lions of Sindria distinct from regular Sindrians by giving them swankier outfits similar to those of unique Sindrian officers.
Knights of Ludd will also have distinct portraits, but not sure how to style them. I was probably gonna go with something like white-colored Low Tech power armor, with highlights similar to those of the Church's flag.
What do Anons think?

Yeah, you need to give a very specific description and even a reference image to the program if you want to make something that makes sense. Even then most of the portraits I make require heavy kitbashing.

If you want to add any of these to your game, you need to go the the .faction files (such as player.faction if you want them to appear as a selectable option in a new game) and add them like pic related, making sure to direct the file to the correct folder and portrait.
I'll eventually do this myself for all portraits and upload the first version of the mod on the forums and Nexus probably, but I want a decent amount of them

I'd say yeah as it has more effort put into it in terms of actual content compared to most mods. I think though that Greywind really just needs to make SFC an aligned faction to the Diktat like Ironshell is to the Heg rather than making it a replacement.
It has a decent amount of content that doesn’t need you to engage in combat so often. There are permanent decisions made when confronting the head scientist, Kween, which will affect the outcome of the final reward that is the Lobster Sisters, which are powerful officers should you get them their respective ships or better
Oh, and they have content that you can use of such as selling stuff at a higher market price than the usual or getting enough favors that you can afford some things without going through all the hoops for it. As usual, throw Kween some cores if working for her takes too long.

I found blueprints for some of them. What's supposed to happen is
you approach the area where the new factions are and meet a scout ship, talk to it, your response activates the new factions and they appear on the faction list. i figured it out yesterday, the economy for most of the small factions is really bad because no access but the colonials have accessibility + a bunch of ships available

I just hacked my save file to make it work lol. You could edit the AIM guy at one of their planets or edit the "fire eye" character who was in the scout ship and should be at Anarakaad. Pic related is what I searched for, I changed some of his values to match the admin of Jangala and when I loaded the game he let me sign up. I'm going to see about making him the planet administrator and a contact for missions etc.
A savegame editor would be a great standalone utility for this game.

Yeah, it's a shame. The setting has plenty of potential, the fact that people are here talking about it instead of the fricktillion other space opera settings is proof of that.
But it has become apparent that David is not the right writer to bring this universe to life. In fact, I would go as far as to say there's a fair few modders and outright fanfiction writers who would do it better for free.

I have this suspicion the game doesn't sell that well in the long run to do more than just pay the bills. It's obscure, not on any mainstream stores and easily pirated and doesn't have any secondary funding sources like Patreon that I'm aware of.
I was at least hoping that alleviating a bit of the mental burden might light a fire under Alex. I kind of feel though that it's had the opposite effect because David's vision is so different to Alex's.

As annoying as non-stop raids could be, stopping those completely and replacing them with better one-off events is an improvement in one area and a drawback in another. It'd be better if they'd still have randomised threat events still popping up every now and then (if less frequently maybe), otherwise it sounds like you run through the same one-off events every run and then nothing more will happen and you'll never need to defend your colonies ever again.
This is a good change right? The game and factions now acknowledge that the player faction exists instead of being there now. Maybe Alex need to make Unknown Skies apart of the base game now so there's more varied conditions for colony making.

It could be a double edged sword where welcoming the Luddics, since they breed like rabbits, should give increased growth, but having a larger Luddic sub-population means you have to deal with their bullshit more and more.

Honestly the Church openly sponsoring crusades to conquer planets that already have large Luddic populations doesn't seem right either. They should be trying to conquer habitable planets first, negotiating if that fails, and then Luddic pilgrims come to the planet after the Church has made it safe for them to settle there one way or another.
Also, Colony events for non-core factions when? I want to have Derelict shitboxes send punative fleets after me for not having a legal colony charter, or Remnants trying to steal their AI cores back with help from the snowglobe I put in charge of my industrial center, or Omega wanting its' Hypershunt back.

I mentioned recently I took over the mining station in the tutorial and it reverted to indy but kept me running it and I make money, can use it like normal etc. Many hours later and Galatia has changed hands a few times meanwhile no one messes with my spot at all and its been a great home base to dump stuff and make money off my own market. This may be my new favorite start, get some marines and take over the mining station after the tutorial.
Also I have a salvage yard so when pirates and invasions happen to the main station I just get free shit.

I wish the gate mechanic wasn't tied to David's awful bore of a story. I've made three separate attempts to play the story and quite every single time, resigning myself to not using the gates. The hyperwarp mod made travel more bearable before Nex introduced the ability to skip the story. But it still feels cheap to have such a powerful ability unlocked immediately upon starting a new game.

I've meshed multiple proper manes myself actually, I have a zebra one even.
Personally I prefer a bridle and have one, and saddle + horseshoes, but was just wearing a maid outfit.
The model is meh and dog% compared to some of the nice stuff real artists make but it's the only decent one in that game, gmods are good.

Depends on your graphics card, if you've got an nvidia one like me then you can open up nvidia graphics settings and take a look at starsector.exe application settings. Useful stuff there like tripple buffering and vsync that can net you more frames and less stutter

Is there any way in vanilla or mods to have it so weapon groups can fire on a button press? It's always bothered me a little bit that if I want to fire reapers or whatever I have to switch to that weapon group and then fire them instead of just binding it to the thumb button on my mouse or something.
If this isn't in the game I'm surprised this isn't a feature. Most people only manually fire like 2-3 weapon groups at a time, so the average person probably has enough buttons on their mouse for all their weapon groups.

It's a Soviet ship, they don't use silly burger designations and their French loanwords. But they wouldn't call it an aircraft carrier because aircraft carriers are a tool of imperialist aggression.

I was thinking that it would require multiple factors or many actions to face serious consequences.

Multiple rapes would simply make that counter go up a bit faster, but to even get there, you'd need to destroy entire fleets and commit multiple atrocities that would overshadow the violence perpetrated against the individual (if done only once or examining a single occurrence). If you do have a mass rape as a celebration for destroying that convoy, though, that would rile people up even more.
I was also thinking of having a junior officer do a sort of scare if you've raped and murdered a lot of people, just for the hell of it.

How to learn how to fit ships? I've been using autofit, but I'm not happy with it. I kind of understand the basics, but there are way too many weapons combining mods and vanilla.
I've been hoarding weapons from battles and the shitty little window popup for choosing them doesn't even have filters or sorting options
I think the basic idea is that your primary weapons, ones you'll mainly use to attack other ships, shouldn't go above your flux limit. So you shield and fire without worry until you start taking serious fire.

Slap shit together and see what works in sim is the best way. You want whatever you fit to be able to take on at least comparable deployment points ship, punching up is good but not required. Do not overthink fleet composition, while building specific roles can be done it is often not worth it unless you are full in on themed runs or have very specific loadout in mind that ai can't handle which you will be piloting yourself.
okay here's the secret to ship fitting just put what ever you like on a ship and if it doesn't work try again some times you may have a bad idea and will after to start over but most of the times most build will work just fine with a little bit a tuning don't worry about flux too much as long as you don't go too far over board it's fine and while armor doesn't regen it's still there and you should keep it in mind and not be afraid to use it

What happens is that the "hammerhead variant" will be its own ship, have its own ID, and exist separate from the regular hammerhead. It won't replace the default hammerhead, not normally. The non-Cabal stuff in UW basically ranges from shit to mid at absolute best. It's a shame really because the idea of the scrappy Oddy and Apogee get me diamonds, but they're just not that fun to play.
It's an upsized Buffalo Mk2. You should never pay for one but if you recover one there's no harm in throwing your spare weapons and a shield gen on it. I like to use it as a support ship.

It's not like the game has been completely overhauled from what it was like years ago, it has merely built upon what already existed.

I watched the review at that time but only recently got into the game. And so far haven't noticed anything besides slipstreams yet

There's not really any other solution outside of restarting
use jre8 and dont use mods that cause memory leaks.
the detector is unreliable and it's entirely possible that there's no leak. just increase your memory alloc and don't worry about it

More than Rapesector I just want an expansion with interaction of NPCs and Officers in general. Stuff like Officer personalities affecting dialogue trees and behavior. Maybe with integration with RS, but not necessarily.
That VN Sector mod exists, but I've never seen it used for anything. Just a pointless framework that no mod uses.
Yeah. You get to interact with officers a total of one time in dialogue to hire them, and that's it. Even the mods claiming to make them more important just let them die, big whoop, your only attachment to them was as a statstick for your ships unless they came from a mod adding unique NPCs (and you'll have no interactions besides Rapesector's when they are hired.)
i mean unless alex manages to create a framework deadsimple enough for monkey to use and dump content or somehow some autist manage to finagle 300 entries into rules.csv there's not much anyone can do about it but fanfic and headcanon from beyond the screen

Probably go into the faction files of whatever faction the mod is adding the industries to and removing that specific line of code?
Not sure where industries of planets are located in the files.
Also, if this is for an ongoing save file, you might also need to edit the savefile, maybe.
I'm kind of in love with Vayra's ship pack. I found a derelict Pathfinder and then a derelict Tyrant (both capitals) and they are both really fun to fly. God I love low-tech ships
