Not just talking about skyrim. every game intro/tutorial sucks. Why can't I just be thrown right into the game. or at least have the option to skip. These are mostly made for people who barely play games and don't know how to work a controller.
I think it's fine for a game to have an intro and tutorial, but there should always be an option for skipping it entirely. You should be able to go into the options menu and then toggle off the intro after agreeing to a warning that first-timers shouldn't engage this option. That way first time players won't go out of their way to skip the intro and get lost on how to play, but anyone who doesn't need the tutorial doesn't have to sit through it.

>Game has tutorial >why do I have to wait through this shit, this sucks >game let's you skip tutorial, 5 minutes later >how the frick do I play this, this sucks
It means that I don't want to waste the majority of my evening after work waiting for a new game to decide when the fun begins, and weekends are better spent catching up on other things in my life. Better to just load up a game I'm already playing in that case.
True, it's segmented very well too. >shows you the facility >isn't that important narrative wise, don't need to pay full attention >can ignore it, grab a drink or snack and eat for 3 minutes, won't miss too much if you don't care about the world since you'll explore it later on in the game >can skip it and start in the tunnel leading to the main office on replays
Compared to Half-Life 2's intro, it's night and day. HL2 has such a painful intro and you have to go through like 5 map transitions and 3 different chapters to when you have the crowbar and gun, before it starts getting good.
The New Colossus is one of the worst examples -
long ass unskippable intro.
followed by a dumb as shit opening level rolling around in a wheel chair.
shortly followed by a forced to watch a 5 min scene before the game finally lets you play properly.
I suffered through a couple black weeks getting that god awful Mein Leben trophy.
>oblivion lets you make a save right before the sewer exit so you can skip the entire dungeon when making a new character >skyrim forces you to go through the tutorial dungeon every time you make a new character
they took a step back. there should have been an option to change your character right before you left the cave
Are games not allowed to build up anticipation or set the scene or anything? Like I understand the point, some games really just waste your time before turning you loose, but I see lots of people just go off on any game that doesn't instantly drop them into the action the second they press start.
Nope. It has to be nonstop dopamine receptor destroying action as soon as I put the game in. I shouldn't even have to press play because, come on. I bought the game and they're not letting me play it?! It should just be instant fighting as soon as I load it up.
Shitpost or not, I agree. If the game has some narrative it needs to shove down your throat it should still let you move and find some other way to convey it. Cutscenes are honestly a fricking movie cope, and not even necessary in Skyrim as the playable Alduin intro sequence already shows.
Honestly it was shorter than I remember. I'm more annoyed by how everything after the intro your skyrim run feels so samey. Especially whiterun and some cities. The game loves throwing quests at you too much at the start
I still have the whole helgen event memorized, it's really funny to just run past all the fire and explosions and even deathwing because you just clip past all of them and don't take damage.
ditto
I saved right after the cart so every new character can skip the cart ride. I've only ever seen the cart cutscene like 3 times
My autism doesn't let me do this. I need to go through the intro with every new character
Same
>start a new game
>can't move
>can't play the game
>money stolen
I heard them say we reached the Skyrim thread I'm sure they'll let us post. Quiet here comes the jannys.
Would you have really liked to be able to get shot by archers like that one guy for trying to move?
>would you really like playing the videogame instead of waiting to play the videogame

90% games play like a mishmash of the same like 10-15 games that are decades old.
i played ac odyssey before the egypt one and it was so uncomfortable i had to turn it off and never played it again
I love reading about this happening to people who skip tutorials, it's so satisfying
Unironically yes. That would have been an cool little feature.
Yes, I would love a chance to escape early on and ignore the cringe war questline entirely
alternate start mods are basically required for second playthroughts in any Bethesda game from Oblivion onwards
acgay
Starfield's intro was mercifully short
>zero attention span zoomies mad they have to sit still for a minute
>people want to play a game instead of not playing it
yes
You can still play it, just wait one measly minute you impatient ADHD zoomie.
>you can play it but not right now, and not during several other long sequences where you are not supposed to play it
no
What about people who work for a living that don't want to waste time on that shit? Gamers are such manchildren, I swear to fricking god.
are you telling me that you only get 1 minute of free time?

thats the problem anon, you actually have a life
Download the mod that lets you choose different starts
I still think Half-Life 1's intro is the best.

i never skip that intro i love it so much

only adhd zoomer gays complain about stuff like that and their opinions dont matter so who cares
>stat a new game
>game immediately prompts you to parry
>contextual narritive points are interwoven into the world but are never the focus
now were cooking with kino
What game?
i made it the frick up
Get to coding it, then. I want to play a game designed with that kind of mindset.
>>stat a new game
>>game immediately prompts you to parry
Batman Arkham City almost got there but not quite

Why is that intro so kino? Everybody knows about it
>Why is that intro so kino?
It's very relatable. Everyone in the world has woken up at least once or twice before.
Honestly it was shorter than I remember. I'm more annoyed by how everything after the intro your skyrim run feels so samey. Especially whiterun and some cities. The game loves throwing quests at you too much at the start
Skyrim's is the only one I can tolerate, I still don't know why, it's not exactly special or anything.
>hey you, youre finally a Black person
Did not expect ralof to say that. O_O
