>start new game
>scout out my map
>build 4 cities and improvements
>get bored
>quit by 1000 AD.
Why do I keep doing this? Do I have ADHD? How do I get myself to complete CIV games? Would turning off all victories help?

civ 5 is a solved game, try something else.
>civ 5 is a solved game, try something else.
What should I try?
You're right though, after watching a bunch of filthyrobot's guides I can't bother playing the game anymore, you can usually know what the first 100 turns will look like.
Get some mods
Also, build more than 4 cities, you can and it's fun. Start roleplaying, make a terra map and fight over the new world etc.
You ruined the game for yourself by metagayging
I'm gonna give you a short list which will be controversial because there is no popular answer.
Old World
Endless Legend
Civ 4, Civ 4 Colonization
All civs are solved
cuz you realize everything but WAR victory is dull and tedious and hell, but then again playing against bots is just shite
Have you tried not playing Civ 5?
repeatedly, apparently
spam cities
>bud spamming cities is bad
yeah
but fun and you have shit to do
just don't spam cities on Deity difficulty
Emperor should be no problem
Shaka tho 🙁
For me it's because I enjoy exploring and expanding far more than exploiting or exterminating therefore I tap out in the medieval era
>boot up game
>Pick venice
>Emperor difficulty
>Huge map
>Max civs and cities
>Marathon
>Play until im sure ill win
whats so special about venice
Can't build new cities
I just build my single giga city and have a bunch of money to buy whatever i want.
the early game of Civ (this applies to VI too) is just way more fun than the late game, the AI is braindead so the game is basically decided within the first 100 turns. and from there the game just devolves into next-turn-simulator as you queue production up and wait to win. you also spend way too much time in the modern era as opposed to classical/medieval eras. The only real fun part of the game is while you're still building up your cities and exploring. once your empire looks cool and your win condition is locked in, may as well just end it there cause you'll do nothing new for the next 200 turns
>27 years later and I still haven't 100% PicRel's campaign scenarios
What is the name for this mental illness?
>no mention of bots or people opponents
you realize this isnt a city building sim right? Its a competitive chess-like game, whats the fun in playing chess on your own?
>civ5
heres your problem, play actually good game like hoi4 or victoria 3
Civ games are boring as frick. Nothing wring with liking the early stages of a game and disliking the rest. Stellaris is a similar case, early exploration is cool but late game is quite lame.
Same with me but with Total War and Paradox, Idk why but grand-strategy games have a really bad endgame.
And apparently neither devs nor players care enough about to solved it.
The early game is the most fun part.
Because Civ sucks and strategygays are too scared to admit it.
Unironically Civilization Revolution was the only good civ game because the simplified mechanics works in the civilization game designs favor.
Civ 5 sucks. Try Civ 3.
