This is every gen after gen 2 and ramps it up so much that the games are unplayable because of this shit by pokemon x and y and everything after

I just replaced crystal last week. It takes maybe 6 minutes from the start of the game to when you have the Pokedex and are sent out on your own. SV it takes 45 just to get the tera crystal, and another 20 after that to get Koraidon.

these games are about the story and you ignoring it is your problem, not the game's.
They kinda were. The Oak’s Parcel and Elm’s Egg quests go on for longer than you probably think. It just mostly cuts loose at that point and shuts up for most of the game.
Gen 3 really started to heavy handed talking, and it just continuously ramps up until it peaks at Gen 7, before going down (but not too far down) in Gen 8 and 9
