I just tried it again last night because someone said it was fixed, on an rx580 8gb and 5800X3D with 32gf of 3200mhz ram it was absolutely unplayable even on the lowest settings. least optimized game I have ever played honestly, and I fricking loved remnant 1 so I'm seething.

I've noticed that the things that cause lag are the shitty looking particle effects and volumetric fogs. Probably has tons of overdraw. But this is the future as nu-game devs have no clue how engines work under the hood since they just use UE/Unity and YOLO it.
I just refunded it, if it's not fixed by now it's gotta be something so fricked in the boding that it can't ever be fixed. It was either pixelated mess or blurry mess with upscaling, and I mean I get that my computer isn't the best, but for fricks sake I can run the witcher 3 on ultra and it absolutely rapes remnant 2 visuals wise. it's one thing for a game to look incredible and be extremely demanding but remnant just does not look good enough to justify it

Yeah I just recently replaced the cpu, GPU coming probably in the next month or so, but regardless, this game doesn't look good enough to justify how poorly it runs. there are a lot of games that look a lot better that don't have this issue and run fine on my computer.

A friend of mine has a 2060 and never drops below 60 FPS on higher settings than me, meanwhile my 3060 (laptop edition lol) constantly drops to 45-50 in a lot of areas. His CPU isn't that new or amazing either, and I never experience this discrepancy in other games.
My only guess was "are laptop 3060s that shit" but according to performance tests they're supposed to be almost identical to the desktop versions. It gets enough wattage so I'm really out of ideas why it's so much worse.
The fun thing is that with the "potato" settings the game looks like N64 game and still runs like crap. The only way you can make it run decently is drop resolution. So most likely it's the nanite being shit (as its tesselation is resolution based), or their postprocessing shaders are incredibly unoptimized, as are their overdrawy particle effects.

You still have to use upscaling, but resolution seems to have biggest effect. Just use balanced or quality upscaling as performance causes soupy mess.

3060s in laptops 'in theory' can run as well as the desktop ones, but are usually thermal limited if they arent power limited. yours seems to be getting enough wattage, it is probably just running too hot at high gpu usage and trying to cool itself off so it slows down. this is a problem with a lot of laptops.
