No, because his property was stolen. If he kills the thief there's nothing wrong with his actions.

Never understood why that was supposed to be "barbaric."
Seems like a reasonable punishment to me and one of symbolic force.

Because modern criminology was colored by both American culture (rebellion against authority) and revolutions against monarchs who did things like killing people via quartering and 'wheels'.

It doesn't matter if it's justified. Punishments like this lead to a worse society on a larger scale and increase in violent crimes.

Cocoanut Grove fire in Boston. 495 people killed, also because the owner (mob ties even) locked and even bricked-off doors, plus doubled or trippled the building's capacity.

Coincidentally, the owner in that fire also got 12 years, although the Massachusetts governor pardoned him after only 4 years.

Shouldn't each person killed result in another consecutive sentence? So even assuming the minimum sentence for each (I don't know the law for Massachusetts but I'm assuming at least a couple years), that would still be enough consecutive sentences to effectively be life with no chance at parole.

Then again the US legal system is fricked, everyone knows this. Especially when it comes to pardoning.

well yeah actually, many mothers can't breastfeed, or exclusively breastfeed, their baby for one reason or another, some of those reasons being their breasts not working.
