Nah, he's right. Most games just use Steamworks which is pretty simple, it just checks if the launcher is open. An emulator like Goldberg's can bypass it with a single dll. There are also thousands of DRM free games, which don't even use the basic bitch check.

I get them DRM free when I can these days, GOG is pretty good but its catalog is not extensive, but it had Empire Earth 2 and for that alone it has my undying love. When I was younger I got all of my PC games from Steam because it was just that convenient and the sales probably saved me thousands. I pretty much only pirate games that are literally not on the market anymore because I'm a stubborn old fart and modern AAA gaming is fucking garbage.
