What I've added to my wishlist so far: >Ghostrunner 2
I like ghostrunner 1 and this is just more of it and a bike >Go Mecha Ball
fun movement and satisfying shooty roguelike >Nom Nom: Cozy Forest Cafe
Cute casual cafe management where you make food by playing a rhythm minigame and decorate your baked goods to you and the customer's desires and decorate the cafe. Short demo, it'll be fun with more content. >Horticular
Garden manager where you build little environments to attract critters and keep them happy >Horribunnies
Bunny tamagotchis that you make breed eachother to make babies to satisfy customers that want specific kinds of bunnies >KarmaZoo
Multiplayer puzzle platformer where you're thrown in with a bunch of other people and have to work together to get to the end of the level. Unlock different abilities and characters that you can bring into the levels. This is probably the best out of the demos I played. A lot of organic cute little interactions with people. Unfortunate that they made it a time limited demo.
Feels mostly the same. Melee kills felt a bit less crunchy than I remember and more like a quick slice. Things feel a bit more smooth and quick in general. You use different abilities more often, especially for solving puzzles at least in the demo level. Shuriken used to be a pickup but now it's an ability. Seems like they're focusing on making you use the abilities in levels rather than them just being all optional combat stuff. Bike sequences seem fun.
it's pretty short (demo campaign is about 6 battles though you're expected to repeat them to clear part-unlocking challenges) and the campaign art/story are pretty bad BUT the actual gameplay's good if you like and want more custom robo. differences are: >your robo doesn't determine your crash, instead it determines your "overdrive" which is a super move that charges up over time >your non gun-arm contains a melee part that acts like a crash without i-frames >bomb parts go on your back where your pods normally would be, pods are just summoned without having a visual indicator on your robo >no leg part, instead you have a chip part with a minor passive effect (like speed/damage/attack up) >you have a shield button
honestly if they just improved the out-of-battle stuff and had more holosseum/map variety (they all look the same but have different layouts) i'd give it a definite recommendation can't change the color of your robos yet but judging by the trailer you'll be able to in the full version
>Sorceress
I've played it. The artstyle sucks, but its combat is really reactive and the game is dynamic enough to let you do shit like lighting enemies on fire by firing arrows through their torches.
>Sovereign Syndicate
Dysco Elysium but instead of a alcoholic cop you're a minotaur in steampunk London. I haven't actually gotten far enough in DE to really compare the two, but I thought this one was neat.
>backpack battles
this is a decent auto-battler the best part is no time limit and you can speed up combat since the battles are against copy of other player builds so you don't have to wait an eternity for other player to finish.
I haven't played that so I can't say how much they copied. Still the mechanics are pretty good and being pvp means you probably need to play differently than a roguelike if you want to win and rank up
I don't know how some of these games are even allowed on Steam. Many of them look blatantly unfinished like the majority of tech demos that get uploaded to itch.io.
Steam has zero quality control, except the very rare occasion where a single Valve employee might arbitrarily decide to remove something because of complaints.
The only barrier is a $100 fee.
played Last Train Home, is pretty good and I haven't finished the demo, runs loke shit so I had to enable DLSS. You might wanna check it if you like RTS loke Company of Heroes and some resource management.
Tevi feels bland and dull compared to Rabi, Doubleshake is good but a LITTLE bit jank and lacking in some areas, Little Goody Two Shoes is interesting so far but I need to play more.
that's all i've played currently.
I'm getting tired of bullet hell games, or whatever the frick they actually are. vampire survivor clones. The problem is theyre shit, but they recommended to me constantly and I never know if it's like an actual game or one of these games that plays itself.
There are ones that do that to purposefully try to leech off the success of VS. But there are also others that don't and try to disguise mediocre autofire walk around and collect orbs gameplay as an actual game to trick you into buying it. A VS game has to be the easiest shit to make once you have the assets.
I've seen the term "bullet heaven" being used to refer to them, but sadly it didn't catch on. It actually pisses me off because these trash games gets tagged as bullet hell and shmup on steam. I feel the pain from roguelike homosexuals now. As the other guy said, the screenshots give it away, it's annoying as frick, but it is what it is.
Welcome to the same hell people who enjoy Rogue-likes and Dungeon Crawlers have experienced for years. You are just starting out so you may still find actual bullet hell games when looking for them but that won't last.
Don't mind me. Just over here laughing in Rogue-like because now we are not the only ones entirely fricked. Prepare for "Word definitions don't matter" and "The genre has evolved" comments when you complain in the future.
>shmup tag is forever ruined because of that FOTM garbage
I hate it.
I hate how Steam doesn't distinguish between dev tags and user tags.
You have moronic users who go around and give every single action platformer the "metroidvania" tag for example.
People who say they “play themselves” are moronic. Vampire Survivors isn’t the smartest or most challenging game ever but there’s nothing so wrong with it as it beating itself without your effort.
First they came for Rogue-likes, and I did not speak out— Because I did not play Rogue-likes.
Then they came for Dungeon Crawlers, and I did not speak out— Because I did not play Dungeon Crawlers.
Then they came for Metroidvanias, and I did not speak out— Because I did not play Metroidvanias.
Then they came for Bullet Hells— and YOU GET WHAT YOU FRICKING DESERVE!
It doesn't feel good at all, it fricking sucks, especially by Inti Creates standards. The awkward half-retained momentum when jumping and every single attack stopping you dead in place just feel terrible, and the music sucks. There is nothing special about this at all outside of it being a Love Live tie-in.
reminder that some games can still be played after next fest, even if developers make the demo undownloadable/unplayable through steam, look in the local files of your install for an exe file
I just played the Holy Gosh Darn Demo, enh. I think the assistant character talks too goddamm much, it's always got to say some clever quip every time. And it's full of black people but they all act like 90's black people or the fresh prince of belair.
The one joke was funny though:
>I need you to do the lord's work! >Oh no, I'm not killing anyone for you >I didn't mean that kind of work
I think I'm in the minority because I always see a lot of these games and I think they look awesome, and it's a matter of me not having enough time or money to actually try all of them. But I'm also sort of a game hoarder. I think it's cool to see really unique or interesting shit with nice looking art direction.
>play sorceress tutorial >melee feels meaty >arrows light on fire if you stand next to a brazier >if you don't fire the flaming arrow it lights your bow on fire >physics objects can push levers >holy shit this is gonna great >go into the first proper level
Ghostrunner was cool. The momentum is a bit fricked though so you can't go as fast as you used to. Hope they fix that.
Motorcycle controls okay, not the best.
If you enjoyed the first game then from what I've played you'll probably enjoy this one, too.
I could be misremembering since it has been a while since I've played the first game but it felt a little tighter and the level design deviates more than it did in the original but could still use some work.
I hope it does well, though. I'm not trying to be smarmy when I say I could see a really good third or fourth game in this series if it can stick around because general gameplay feels pretty good but level design and pick-up placement is stunted.
I like to start from the top most wishlisted and go down:
>Enshrouded
looks like shit, runs like shit, plays like your typical survival game. No idea how this is #1 >Deep Rock Galactic Survivor
Excellent. Has the potential to be the best in the reverse bullet hell genre. >The Last Faith
A C:SotN and Bloodborne mix. Atmosphere music and sounds are fantastic. Everything else is medicore and what the frick is that control scheme >Robocop
Actually fricking amazing. I was expecting it to be shit, but it's one of the best licensed titles Ive ever played. Only downside I could find is that theres no way to disable any kind of upscaling.
Asura the Striker is a surprisingly fun Space Harrier clone. I don't really understand what the charge attack is meant for because I didn't notice any feedback from using it.
Tried Erenshor, it bills itself as being an offline MMO based on old school Everquest and it tries to simulate being an actual MMO but having having NPCs typing in chat and running around in game. It definitely has that old school MMO design, having to type in chat to advance quests, dragging items to trade them to NPCs to advance quests, having to drag items to equip them.
It's a weird game, I don't have the Everquest nostalgia because I played XI instead but I'd rather play a classic EQ private server if I wanted to get that experience. Maybe some boomer here would appreciate it though if they actually played EQ.
What is the point of this? The gameplay only consists of moving the mouse like a mongoloid and the games last nanoseconds because as soon as it starts they attack you with no chance to avoid it.
Is there some trick or something I didn't notice? After trying several times I don't understand how to proceed.
I see, I thought that basic slimes would hurt you if they glowed, it turns out that they only do so if you touch them when they show their teeth, that's why I moved the mouse everywhere compulsively.
I found europa. Really wants to be like a studio ghibli movie, and I guess it succeeds to some extent since now I want to know what the frick is going on. There was no combat in the demo and barely shown in the trailer so I'm assuming it's going to be just about platforming puzzles and exploration.
Just tried Seablip. It's trying to be a farmsim combined with a ship combat game, it's fine but it needs a lot of QoL adjustments, also i feel the demo should be longer
am i a homosexual for refusing to try any games that are not FPS?
Games are tools to have fun. You're a homosexual for seeking validation and gamer cred instead of playing whatever the hell you want, not because you're an FPS-only kid.
This was hands down the most boring game I have ever played, I am being brutally honest. Boring and pretentious. They need to be less wordy and be more direct, make characters talk like they are actual beings.
I think the problem with it is that it asks your commitment without buying you in terms of narrative. It hopes to get your investment by how intriguiging it looks alone...Which isn't enough for me.
>Gringo
The dev team is from Spain but their page reads like something from California >Our mission is to bring more diversity, inclusivity, and adorableness to the gaming landscape. We believe that everyone deserves to see themselves represented in games, regardless of their identity or background. That’s why we’re dedicated to crafting unique gaming experiences that celebrate and empower the LGBTQ+ community.
>We believe that everyone deserves to see themselves represented in games
I don't think the solution for everyone to feel represented is to degender all the characters and make them all weird neutroids incapable of referring to themselves in a normal way.
I'm pretty sure that the game was made by some spain or argentinian studio
Only in those countries do 'progres' take seriously the use of the "e" as a neutral gender.
Normally when a gringo dev does it the translator ignores the neutral pronouns in English as they don't have a coherent translation (although there are exceptions like Bugsnax where they hire translators as woke as they are).
>Bienvenides a Manitas Kitchen, un juego de cocina casual con un toque de arcade y mini-juegos, donde conocerás a Trexito, une T-Rex de bracitos cortos que tiene un sueño: ¡convertirse en le mejor pizzere! >Trexito será ayudade por un grupo de dinosaurios hábiles, inteligentes y peligrosos. Conoce a Freckles "Le Experte en Masa", Marsh "Le Maestre del Horno" y Collini "Le Chique de la Salsa".
There's no way they wrote this with a straight face. No sane human would.
Steam needs to add install options and push devs towards letting players opt out of 4k textures and other languages.
It wouldn't fix everything but it would make a huge difference.
When a file is too large it's also said to be a heavy file. In the same way that if it is small it's also called light.
I don't see why it can't be said that way.
>Had DEEP: Battle of Jove on wishlist since the very first Nextfest >look it up again to see if there's been any news at all since then >devs just shelved it and made Anno Mutationem instead
what the frick
I fricking love the original Solium Infernum but fricked if I will be downloading a 5 gig demo for a remake when the original was 133 meg in total and doesn't need 4k uncompress movies or whatever the frick they have wasted the space on.
Somehow has a ton of potential while also just being stuck as Dark Messiah 1.5
I hope the anon can find a better visual style and dives deep into how Arkane's level designs really sell their mechanics
Also I'm pretty sure there was another anon making a FPS-kicker game, def should link up
>Genokids
Already on my wishlist.
I found two of my favorite games last year (Asterigos and Soulsice) thanks to the Steam fest demo. I want something similar.
I like playing demos but man the sadness that kicks in when you play something not good. It is like you're watching the dreams of the devs being snuffed out.
Not really given how now people deliberately choose indie games over traditional published games.
It doesn't matter how awful an indie game is, it will sell very well by virtue of being indie.
>It doesn't matter how awful an indie game is, it will sell very well by virtue of being indie.
Frick no, lol, what are you talking about?
There are a shitton of games on Steam that have less than 100 reviews, even ones that I would argue are good. Being indie is by no means a guarantee of success, you can get crushed very easily.

Nope; gamers now prefer indies over traditional big budget big developer games, both as a conscious choice and as a political statement.
I guarantee that said 100 reviews indie still sold very well.
I said -less than- 100 reviews, and we're talking about games that took years to make, and cost some amount of money (especially if it was a multi-person team and not a solo project). You also pulled the 6000 number right out of your ass. These are games no one has ever heard of, that have no marketing, minimal viewcounts on Twitch/YouTube/etc. We're not talking about Hollow Knight or Binding of Isaac here. If a title is coming to your head, it's not that, it's stuff buried deep in Steam's search results with specific tags. Let's not even talk about all the games on itch.io that are even more obscure.
It's the fate of most indie titles, and one that no indie dev wants.
I've been using computers since the early 90's (I'm 38 years old) and I've work for a bank's IT department for the past eight years.
Never, not even once, I've heard about the amount of storage used by computer files to be referred as "weight"; it has always been referred to as size.
Reminder: >if your game is over 5-10gb >if you cant even be bothered to get rid of the unity splash screen >if you waste my time with a plot introduction instead of going right into the gameplay >if you treat the demo as a free beta/alpha test for playtesters
I will not wishlist your game. It's a damn DEMONSTRATION so show off what your game can do.
Yeah this is the worst. It's also bad when you're playing one of those combat focused games where you slowly get stronger throughout the game and gain more abilities and the demo spends the first 15 minutes teaching you your basic slash, back dash, etc. Start me off with the full kit! I have 50+ demos to play I don't have time for this "press A to jump" bullshit.
Anon out here huffing his own farts in public like a demo being big is somehow a bad thing and having a fricking splash screen somehow ruins the experience of playing a demo. Jesus Christ, how far up your own ass can one gay get?
I've participated in every single next fest for years. I've directly talked to loads of different devs in steam forums to give feedback on their game and I can GUARANTEE you that the morons that fall into the traps I listed always do worse.
You only get one Next Fest ticket now so don't frick it up. Just because you're an indie doesn't mean you have to act like it's amateur hour.
How the frick is a splash screen, shit that every game has, gonna make a game do worse except with elitist homosexuals like you? Same with a 15GB demo. It's not like the game is a fricking AAA 200GB mess of 4K hyper textures and shit. Jesus, anon. It takes me like 2 minutes to download 15GB. Stop whining about nothingburger shit like that.
>if you waste my time with a plot introduction instead of going right into the gameplay
It depends of which kind game it is. For rpgs/story based it's ok.
I mean it's gotta be really good. Like you gotta be telling a really interesting story. If you're looking for story focused games then I guess you should have the patience to sit through that shit since that's what the full game is gonna be like.
yeah, I'm just not sure if picnic is some sort of weird tumblr metaphor. The tags don't list LGBT, so maybe I'm just reading too much into things, but there's a huge sherlock/watson shipping fanbase.
Basically, I can't tell there difference between old stories from the 1920's where people had stuff like bosom friends and gay old times, and modern day homosexualry.
I'll try the demo tomorrow and see how it plays but just by looking at the videos and screenshots it looks like a bucolic and picturesque setting for a Sherlock Holmes story and the style reminds me of the Case of the Golden Idol a bit. Nothing particularly tumbleresque about it. You shouldn't let such sites have a firm grasp on your psyche.
Puzzlebros.
Thoughts on Talos Principle 2?
Loved the demo although the demo is a bit large in size but you get a decent number of puzzles and good look at this new world. I literally preordered because of it. The new puzzle mechanics are cool, the few locations presented are beautiful and the OST seems to be just as memorable. I just hope they improve on the performance so it runs better.
>if you waste my time with a plot introduction instead of going right into the gameplay
this is the only thing I agree with you on. I don't need a 3-5 minute unskippable intro cutscene about your totally unique world and characters, just get to the fricking gameplay
>if your game is over 5-10gb
correct. shouldnt be that big >if you cant even be bothered to get rid of the unity splash screen
not a big deal >if you waste my time with a plot introduction instead of going right into the gameplay
if it's short then it can be tolerable >if you treat the demo as a free beta/alpha test for playtesters
obviously if the game isnt done there are things to be suggested or added or adjusted
Can confirm the shader compilation stutter in Robocop is gone with the update they released earlier today. It's a lot smoother, but still needs a beefy setup to get 60+ without upscaling. I'm getting ~50 with FSR2.2 and medium settings on my 1660ti and 3700x. They also cut the filesize down to 38 gigs instead of 50.
>Play game with multiple races >Default human is black >You can't change the skintone >If you want to be white you have to play as a filthy elf

They always forget, lol. They don't bother to do even the bare minimum optimization.
Gotta remind them on the Steam forums and pray they fix it before release.
Kinda unrelated question but is anyone else having the back button take you to the library every time? It makes browsing anything on Steam really annoying
Every other week the back button breaks, though it was never good for any of Steam's event pages since they've always fricking randomized where each game is in each category every time the page is loaded so you've always lost your place.
sky children of the light was great
lets you play for a long ass time
asura the striker wont let me get into the game?? like what the hell?? i reinstalled, verified game files... like cmon man
Of those I've only played Scarlet Nexus.
Do you like action games like DMC?
Do you like action RPGs like the Tales games?
Did you play Code Vein? did you like it?
I got pretty far with Code Vein but never finished it. The biggest problem is that the controls and hits are floaty and weightless. I'd still say it's an overall pretty okay game though.
I bought Arise a while ago but still haven't started it.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2376970/My_Horse_Bonded_Spirits/
finally I can't live out my fantasy of building a lasting relationship with my mare wife
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1208690/Ailuri/
Ailuri is adorable and has great art, animations, and good ideas for mechanics but it is really not polished. Some of the art clashes because the characters are drawn at a different resolution than the environment so their outlines look all fricked in game. Combat des not have good feedback. I got to a point where I couldn't progress because whenever I walked through a door I fell through the ground and died. If it gets another year or two of development and maybe some devs that are as competent at programing as the artist is at illustration then it could be a really beautiful game.
The demo felt like a proof of concept a dev would put out to get interest for a Kickstarter with how unfinished and early in development it felt. The level design felt like it came straight from a rough storyboard, most of the sound effects are missing, and as you said a lot of the art clashes a lot.
This seems to be what happens every next fest for me. Remove 4 games from wishlist that were shit then add 1 kind of neat game to wishlist, which I will probably pirate when they released it at $60 + tax instead of the $15 it would be worth.
The 3 weeks a year where this festival is active are the only time where I play really and have a curious spirit to try new experiences (even if the vast majority are rubbish)
Outside of that, playing the typical AAA games is a very mechanical experience without any hype or emotion.
webgames kinda capture that energy for me too but if you're browsing itch you have to make sure to filter the words "horror" and "atmospheric" to get to play actual video games
The FOMO is the key, since if I didn't have any pressure or commitment, I wouldn't go near any game at this festival within 100 miles.
Venturing to look for the diamond among the coal while trying a lot of genres that I intentionally avoid in my daily basis feels like being invited to a strange restaurant with a buffet that you don't know. Maybe what you eat is mediocre or garbage, but it's something different.
I only remember that feeling from my childhood when I was an impressionable child, as an adult everything is grayer, you control everything and your expectations cement your entire outlook and enjoyment.
idk at the same time I played vampire survivors before. i dont really have an interest in playing one of the hundreds of clones. I know what its going to be like. why bother?
just filtering to games that run in your web browser does a lot to get rid of low effort trash.
some people dont even know you can build for web on unity
but if you go in expecting assassin's creed type giant sprawling open world adventure i think you will obviously be disappointed
Going to play the Peripeteia demo again for the umpteenth time but I dont have the highest hopes for it. Its a little too jank and every demo has ran like absolute shit. Its always just kinda been "EYE Divine Cybermancy: Chinese Knockoff edition". I also hate how much they lean into the protag being an anime girl, it looks moronic.
I couldn't get into Peri either. The description sounds good but it plays meh. Also really hated the lack of readability due to the typeface and contrast between the text and background.
I couldn't get into Peri either. The description sounds good but it plays meh. Also really hated the lack of readability due to the typeface and contrast between the text and background.
in the same boat, even more so after replaying Cyberpunk and desperately trying to not reinstall Deus again
man I love steam next fest events, legitimately the best threads on Ganker. People are actually discussing and recommending videogames, it's a beautiful thing
Why is the art style so fricking uninspired in a lot of these demos? We're talking things I'd expect to see on the phone app stores because it looks cheap in how its rendered.
>the apocalypse party
mid survivor clone. easy to get stuck on shit, weapons all feel the same. level design might be better than average survivor games though >Battlecore Robots
I haven't played custom robo but this was ass. I much prefer virtual on or armored core >EMPTY SHELL
as another anon said, it's Teleglitch. It's much worse though. The b/w gimmick gets in the way of readability. Almost every aspect is done worse than Teleglitch a decade ago. Sad.
>veggie quest
excellent, had 1 or 2 levels that were tedious but still the best game I played >elephant collection
It's just ports of flash games I played 15 years ago, but I love them >cursorblade
Fun arcadey little game but not interested in playing past the demo
Everything else was either clunky, bad, boring, or had horrible UI
>another crabs treasure
Handles well! Good ideas! Well executed! Cute! Very easy to fall off the level! Will live or die depending on the amount of content, boss design and enemy variation. Will play this some more until the end of the NextFest
To me it should fix the archers, they just magnetize their arrows to your butt, even when you run to avoid them.
And the dodge roll feels useless, like the input isn't syncing correctly.
>Forgive me Father 2
meh doomclone. only three guns, only four enemies. felt repetitive before the first level was over. looks good and has pretty nice feedback on kills. >japanese drift master
10-20 fps on deck on low lol >gunhead
runs great on deck, looks decent and feels pretty polished. way too easy and a lot more forgiving than the first game. will get boring fast if there isn't more challenge to it.
this one has soul. its focused on the folk tales of the scottish border regions. their development cites mad god, brothers quay, and old medieval art as part of their inspirations. for music, they are looking at both music from the time period and modern folk from the regions they focus on.
>installs what appears to be a Korean or Chinese game >expects it not to be shit
I dunno what to tell you, anon. You saw the warning signs and made the choice to ignore them.
there's been a few exceptions to the rule. Wandering Sword from the NextFest before last is a superb clone of Octopath Traveler, even better I'd say.
Then there's Bing in Wonderland which is a pretty original roguelite if you can imagine that
>installs what appears to be a Korean or Chinese game >expects it not to be shit
I dunno what to tell you, anon. You saw the warning signs and made the choice to ignore them.
I've noticed a trend as of the past few nextfests of chink and korean publishers using the event to shill their online games.
big-time Korean and Chinese publishers are trying to sneak into the indie market with faux-indie pixel art games and NextFest demos under fake names, it's bizarre
>Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom
If this fricking game had a standard jump button instead of jank 3 inputs to jump jumps, it'd actually be good. Still sat in it for 4 hours entertained with the gameplay beyond that one HUGE GRIPE. Gym stage best stage
nah, I like it. I would HOWEVER very much like it if there were wall-riding mechanics, racing challenges, 180 mechanic, bandit-turn + backflips and a plethora of other stuff
the sequel to turnip boy commits tax evasion, instead of an open world zelda like it's now a Persona 3 type game where you play the same dungeon over and over again
This demo was fun, but I've never watched Love Live (I don't like idol media) so probably I won't get too much mileage out of it.
It also felt kind of, I don't know, simplistic?
I don't think you'll need to have watched Love Live or the Yohane spinoff to understand what's going on outside of some references but I'm pretty sure the game is going to be dumbed down for people who are only playing it because it's Love Live.

I'm thankful for the list but I was indeed more after a fest demo list than a general one. Still, I appreciate the thought. Hopefully some of these have a character creator in them.
I was going to shill you the demo of Genokids if your PC was capable of running it, but your specs are nearly the same ones as the laptop I use to optimize the game and treat as the lowest I'm willing to optimize for (an i5-2540m without a GPU, so just using integrated graphics).
I'm quite happy with how much I optimized the code and the artist also optimized his stuff, but I think you will only get 30 or 40 fps...
If you end up playing it, feel free to say how well it runs. The demo tries to choose the best quality preset on the first run, but you may still need to turn something down, I'm not sure.
You may want to look at the second hand market (Not P2P, from stores with warranty) as you can get a way better laptop than what you have now for even ~200€ you must be suffering daily-driving that laptop.
Artsy point-and-click game about woman confronting the wall. The writing is pretentious but its presentation is honestly very well-done for what it is, a hidden object game. And it seems like there will be at least some other gameplay that's not just pixel hunting, based on the one wire-connecting puzzle.
I liked these 2 games so far: >ENTANGLEMENT

Fun 3D puzzle game >CASTILLO: The Nine Circles

Ended up playing pogo3d for an hour, got filtered by the pipe jumps in the fricking sewers.
Also found the secret, made it down the well. Does the hourglass down there do anything?
You remember that Peri's hammer mapper is a ex homeless nutter who's into urban exploration, then accept that you're going to feel lost sometimes while climbing around weird semi-abandoned buildings in Poland. That's really the best I can describe it.
jack shit this next fest. I mean there's stuff but its stuff that existed since the last one, so I can't really count those. there's nothing new good that I've not already had on my wish list since last one.
>still survivors clones despite the genre being beyond bloated >more farming sims despite the genre being bloated (though nowhere near what survivor bloat is) >several moba and deep rock clones (which I don't understand cause deep rock sucked dick) >"a unique DECKBUILDING adventure!"
just fricking kill me.
Quantum Knights, a third person shooter of knights with guns. I was about to clip some footage but my Shadowplay was off.
After fighting one boss as the big armored acid dude, I reached some Monster Hunter seeming town? I'll get back to you with gameplay footage.
For now, here's a screenshot of the inventory screen.
So what is a "100% will buy on release" game for you?
I'm definitely getting karma zoo. I would get ghostrunner 2 if my pc wasn't too shit for it. Go mecha ball, horticular and crossroad OS I might get but it depends on their prices.
this game is fun
/https://store.steampowered.com/app/811760/The_Last_Exterminator/
I may be a bit biased cause I love NuDoom and it's an absolute ripoff but I've had fun so far, if the level design was better it'd my favourite game from this fest, hope it costs less than 20$ when it releases
Sandwalkers - vaguely Dark Sun kinda feeling "roguelite" where you explore a world map with very limited resources Caravan, then do some turn-based 4 homies in a grid battles and choose your own adventure dialogue. it's alright. a couple fests ago i found Vagrus which is another very Dark Sun caravan travelling game, but that was a lot better and deeper than this. this is pixel and lite.
Magicraft - Chinese Binding of Isaac. don't expect anything great out of this, but the Wand mechanic is fantastic. instead of tears you use powerups to build modular Wands and you can hold multiple.
Everything else I just downloaded, my fate is in the hands of you gays. Oh and Love is All Around literally just wanted to look at pretty chinese women so I downloaded it.
Name a good comfy puzzle game demo NOW.
Talos 2
What I've added to my wishlist so far:
>Ghostrunner 2
I like ghostrunner 1 and this is just more of it and a bike
>Go Mecha Ball
fun movement and satisfying shooty roguelike
>Nom Nom: Cozy Forest Cafe
Cute casual cafe management where you make food by playing a rhythm minigame and decorate your baked goods to you and the customer's desires and decorate the cafe. Short demo, it'll be fun with more content.
>Horticular
Garden manager where you build little environments to attract critters and keep them happy
>Horribunnies
Bunny tamagotchis that you make breed eachother to make babies to satisfy customers that want specific kinds of bunnies
>KarmaZoo
Multiplayer puzzle platformer where you're thrown in with a bunch of other people and have to work together to get to the end of the level. Unlock different abilities and characters that you can bring into the levels. This is probably the best out of the demos I played. A lot of organic cute little interactions with people. Unfortunate that they made it a time limited demo.
i didn't know ghostrunner 1 had a demo, downloading now. how does 2 feel compared to the 1?
Feels mostly the same. Melee kills felt a bit less crunchy than I remember and more like a quick slice. Things feel a bit more smooth and quick in general. You use different abilities more often, especially for solving puzzles at least in the demo level. Shuriken used to be a pickup but now it's an ability. Seems like they're focusing on making you use the abilities in levels rather than them just being all optional combat stuff. Bike sequences seem fun.
has anybody tried the peripeteia demo? i'm dl'ing now. also picrel kek
also somebody shill me on the robocop game, i'm busy with other demos atm
cool. i'll stick with checking out 1's demo for now, always wanted to try it.
mars tactics any good?

>Battlecore Robots
this shit is literally just custom robo with a few tweaks which is a good thing to me, i loved custom robo
wait this is looks kino
is it fun?
it's pretty short (demo campaign is about 6 battles though you're expected to repeat them to clear part-unlocking challenges) and the campaign art/story are pretty bad BUT the actual gameplay's good if you like and want more custom robo. differences are:
>your robo doesn't determine your crash, instead it determines your "overdrive" which is a super move that charges up over time
>your non gun-arm contains a melee part that acts like a crash without i-frames
>bomb parts go on your back where your pods normally would be, pods are just summoned without having a visual indicator on your robo
>no leg part, instead you have a chip part with a minor passive effect (like speed/damage/attack up)
>you have a shield button
honestly if they just improved the out-of-battle stuff and had more holosseum/map variety (they all look the same but have different layouts) i'd give it a definite recommendation
can't change the color of your robos yet but judging by the trailer you'll be able to in the full version
>Sorceress
I've played it. The artstyle sucks, but its combat is really reactive and the game is dynamic enough to let you do shit like lighting enemies on fire by firing arrows through their torches.
I tried A Webbing Journey. Controls were fine but the actual game around it wasn't that interesting.
>Asura: The Striker
This shit's just Space Harrier and I am 100% HERE FOR IT
>Sovereign Syndicate
Dysco Elysium but instead of a alcoholic cop you're a minotaur in steampunk London. I haven't actually gotten far enough in DE to really compare the two, but I thought this one was neat.
>backpack battles
this is a decent auto-battler the best part is no time limit and you can speed up combat since the battles are against copy of other player builds so you don't have to wait an eternity for other player to finish.
Discount Backpack Hero
I haven't played that so I can't say how much they copied. Still the mechanics are pretty good and being pvp means you probably need to play differently than a roguelike if you want to win and rank up
If it's an auto battler they probably didn't actually copy much, but the backpack management gimmick might be similar
>not a single decent metroidvania
For all the whining from u gays one would think theres like 50 of them
The Mobius Machine is alright
Tevi seems great.
I narrowed by tag and there's 41 listed. Haven't had a chance to try any yet.
Strange how it was a dead genre for years and now after Hollow Knight there's a massive glut.

I don't know how some of these games are even allowed on Steam. Many of them look blatantly unfinished like the majority of tech demos that get uploaded to itch.io.
1/5th of all the games on steam are now chinese/pajeet asset flips
steam hasn't had any QC in a decade
Steam has zero quality control, except the very rare occasion where a single Valve employee might arbitrarily decide to remove something because of complaints.
The only barrier is a $100 fee.
i think its a good barrier. you release dumb shit, you spent $100 for nothing
personally i think my game is the best one within my genre tags.
seriously there's some godawful looking shit here.

Shill the games/demos you've played, please, I've only got Peripeteia to play so far, loved the first demo.
Just played Flashback 2 demo. It's terrible. The game is gonna be shit. I can't believe I downloaded 10 Gb for that.
played Last Train Home, is pretty good and I haven't finished the demo, runs loke shit so I had to enable DLSS. You might wanna check it if you like RTS loke Company of Heroes and some resource management.
yea there is no reason for this shit to run so terribly
if it isn't fixed on release i'm not going to bother
How's the story?
Did they include at least some shit from reality or is it all "poor innocent Czechs" shit after all?
This is what I have so far. What else should I download?
Tevi feels bland and dull compared to Rabi, Doubleshake is good but a LITTLE bit jank and lacking in some areas, Little Goody Two Shoes is interesting so far but I need to play more.
that's all i've played currently.
Genuinely curious what about Tevi feels dull conpared to Rabi, it just seems like a better version of Rabi.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/704000/GUNHEAD/
Cryptark was pretty sick, let's see if they can nail the transition to FPS
is that jerma voice acting in the first trailer? He really can only do 3 voices
Jerma did voice acting for their previous game so it's probably him again
The Last Faith is better than any game you are looking forward to.
>Yet another 2D metroidvania
Fricking
YAWN
The demo definitely didn‘t convince me if that‘s the case
TEVI Plagued forest is filtering me
I'm getting tired of bullet hell games, or whatever the frick they actually are. vampire survivor clones. The problem is theyre shit, but they recommended to me constantly and I never know if it's like an actual game or one of these games that plays itself.
They're usually got the word survivor or survivor-like in their description, otherwise the screenshots should give it away.
SUFFER AS I HAVE
Unfortunately Bullet Heaven has been the name of the EBF spinoff game for over a decade.
Welcome to the same hell people who enjoy Rogue-likes and Dungeon Crawlers have experienced for years. You are just starting out so you may still find actual bullet hell games when looking for them but that won't last.
>shmup tag is forever ruined because of that FOTM garbage
I hate it.
Don't mind me. Just over here laughing in Rogue-like because now we are not the only ones entirely fricked. Prepare for "Word definitions don't matter" and "The genre has evolved" comments when you complain in the future.
Man, that Robocop game runs like shit despite looking so mediocre.
I don't get it either, since it's the same engine as their Terminator game, and that one ran buttery on my setup.
TEVI is pretty fun. Is this what Ribi-Rabi is like?

I just played the Holy Gosh Darn Demo, enh. I think the assistant character talks too goddamm much, it's always got to say some clever quip every time. And it's full of black people but they all act like 90's black people or the fresh prince of belair.
The one joke was funny though:
>I need you to do the lord's work!
>Oh no, I'm not killing anyone for you
>I didn't mean that kind of work
I liked the Japanese Drift Master. It's like Initial D x Forza. Runs like shit, not sure if that's the game or my old ass computer though.
I will now buy your game.

I think I'm in the minority because I always see a lot of these games and I think they look awesome, and it's a matter of me not having enough time or money to actually try all of them. But I'm also sort of a game hoarder. I think it's cool to see really unique or interesting shit with nice looking art direction.
If you play enough demos you start to notice red flags.
>play sorceress tutorial
>melee feels meaty
>arrows light on fire if you stand next to a brazier
>if you don't fire the flaming arrow it lights your bow on fire
>physics objects can push levers

Why is Balatro so fricking good? Jesus Christ I haven't been this hooked by a roguelite card game since Slay the Spire.
Glad I checked it out. I like games that have a spin on a classic game, like shotgun king.

ghostrunner demo crashed so i uninstalled it
not a good first impression
it's got a demo out
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2140020/Stronghold_Definitive_Edition/
is it any good?
it's still good they just redid all the art from OG stronghold + added new QoL/steam workshop and multiplayer
Ghostrunner was cool. The momentum is a bit fricked though so you can't go as fast as you used to. Hope they fix that.
Motorcycle controls okay, not the best.
The Forgive Me Father 2 dev needs help with level design because it seems little was learned from the first game.
Did it at least improve in some ways from the first game?
If you enjoyed the first game then from what I've played you'll probably enjoy this one, too.
I could be misremembering since it has been a while since I've played the first game but it felt a little tighter and the level design deviates more than it did in the original but could still use some work.
I hope it does well, though. I'm not trying to be smarmy when I say I could see a really good third or fourth game in this series if it can stick around because general gameplay feels pretty good but level design and pick-up placement is stunted.
I see, thanks for the feedback. Definitely looking forward to it.

looks like shit, runs like shit, plays like your typical survival game. No idea how this is #1
>Deep Rock Galactic Survivor
Excellent. Has the potential to be the best in the reverse bullet hell genre.
>The Last Faith
A C:SotN and Bloodborne mix. Atmosphere music and sounds are fantastic. Everything else is medicore and what the frick is that control scheme
>Robocop
Actually fricking amazing. I was expecting it to be shit, but it's one of the best licensed titles Ive ever played. Only downside I could find is that theres no way to disable any kind of upscaling.
exactly my feelings about each of those
Asura the Striker is a surprisingly fun Space Harrier clone.
Currently downloading Joy of Programming.
Anyone played it?
What is the point of this? The gameplay only consists of moving the mouse like a mongoloid and the games last nanoseconds because as soon as it starts they attack you with no chance to avoid it.
Is there some trick or something I didn't notice? After trying several times I don't understand how to proceed.
it's a vampire survivor clone. You move around to damage them and dont get hit.
I see, I thought that basic slimes would hurt you if they glowed, it turns out that they only do so if you touch them when they show their teeth, that's why I moved the mouse everywhere compulsively.
>try robocop
>shoot the gun
>dude's head just fricking pop
>robocop theme blasting
Good shit.
It's a good robocop simulator yeah.
I found europa. Really wants to be like a studio ghibli movie, and I guess it succeeds to some extent since now I want to know what the frick is going on. There was no combat in the demo and barely shown in the trailer so I'm assuming it's going to be just about platforming puzzles and exploration.
>tokyo game show gets a demo
>steam doesn't
why they hate gaben?
Game shows often get exclusive demos.
Just tried Seablip. It's trying to be a farmsim combined with a ship combat game, it's fine but it needs a lot of QoL adjustments, also i feel the demo should be longer
there are no demos though worst next fest ever ;-;
>there are no demos
(you) are wrong
i dont see any could this be because i told gabe i hope he gets ass raped?
It's a good guess
Any decent vr stuff?
Only interested in Bootstrap Island and Liminal Phase, haven't installed yet
wonder what happened to that underwater base building survival game
was announced like 2 years ago and nothing since, probably vaporware
Indie devs take note. I want a arcade style game centered around murdering cyclists.
am i a homosexual for refusing to try any games that are not FPS?
yea, a tremendous one
but i might not like anything else and no its not cause i have more than 1 monitor
you do you
Games are tools to have fun. You're a homosexual for seeking validation and gamer cred instead of playing whatever the hell you want, not because you're an FPS-only kid.
You are intentionally limiting your fun
yh and i think you should order the biggest dildo currently available on the market. preferably bad dragon
well Ganker? is this all? also sentry is pretty good. just add 4player co-op, and bigger infrastructure and itll be golden.
>take singleplayer game and make it multiplayer
you are the reason i have nothing to play
it should atleast be optional
no cause then i HAVE to play it to play that game and i HATE multiplayer people in those games are dicks and constantly tell you how to play
then just go offline then
frick. forgot the image

Pretty sure it'll have a 2P co-op option.

Here's my official opinion:
>Flashback 2 Demo
Looks and plays like a student project. It gonna suck.
>Sky Children of the Light Demo
Doesn't even launch.
>Cursorblade Demo
Cute but that's it. The concept doesn't work.
>YOHANE THE PARHELION -BLAZE in the DEEPBLUE- Demo
A simplistic metroidvania. Similar to other Inti Creates games. I'd buy that for a dollar.
>The Last Faith Demo
I think it's supposed to be a 2D Bloodborne. I didn't like it.
>yohane even got a game
based Lailaps, saving Love Live
Last Faith leaned way too hard into the LMAO PREPARE TO DIE memes and putting the parry on a two-button combination is fricking moronic

Art's fantastic. Humor and writing's a lil shit. Desperately needs speedhacks or something to move along faster.
Any porn game demos that sneaked in?
Tons. Half my RPG suggestions were porn.
A lot, it's probably the Next Fest with the most porns games yet

Steam needs to add install options and push devs towards letting players opt out of 4k textures and other languages.
It wouldn't fix everything but it would make a huge difference.
No. It's too much hassle. Get a larged drive.
Don't hate the engine, hate the dev
For me, if a demo weighs more than 5 GB, it fails as a demo in its mere concept.
>weighs
the correct term would be " longer than 5GBs" ouare speaking like a journalist
>longer
that's not right either ESL-kun
you measure files in length anon

in the universe were files are recorded on disks have have track lengths
Files are recorded on discs in our universe as well and yet it is still called file size not file length.

rofl at this dude calling file size "impact"
It's file size not file length you turbo moron.
Data isn't recorded in a long line. We give each memory address a sequential reference number, but the actual physical layout is more of a grid.
its still length thing about owe we used to record data it was on tapes and paper reels both of which had length so length is correct
When a file is too large it's also said to be a heavy file. In the same way that if it is small it's also called light.
I don't see why it can't be said that way.
because the FIRSDT term was length therefore it is ALWAYS correct things DO NOT CHANGE

I fricking love the original Solium Infernum but fricked if I will be downloading a 5 gig demo for a remake when the original was 133 meg in total and doesn't need 4k uncompress movies or whatever the frick they have wasted the space on.
Whatever they wasted it on, it's unoptimized as frick.
Or at least, I wasted time DL
just for it to refuse so I guess that's the power of my amdupster fire
Also I'm glad jannies are spending the time in an actual thread about video games making sure they delete any comments that say no-no words
Somehow has a ton of potential while also just being stuck as Dark Messiah 1.5
I hope the anon can find a better visual style and dives deep into how Arkane's level designs really sell their mechanics
Also I'm pretty sure there was another anon making a FPS-kicker game, def should link up
I'd be more interested if it didn't look so fricking ugly.
I figured it not looking like 99% of indieslop would be a nice change of pace, but no
It's pretty bad
k-keyblade?
>japanese drift master
holy shit this looks fun as frick, will try
>that music
this was made by chinks or third-worlders right?
Poles lol
still really fun, playing the demo right now. turned off the music and put on some eurobeat

is sorceress a dark messiah like?
yes
Genokids maybe
>Genokids
Already on my wishlist.
I found two of my favorite games last year (Asterigos and Soulsice) thanks to the Steam fest demo. I want something similar.
Anyone find any cute and funny games? Doesn't need to be lewd. Any e-girl MC is a plus.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2547620/Sleembo/
Any Devil May Cry clones or Soulslikes?
No 2D games, of course.
Another Crab's Treasure
(I haven't tried it yet)
I like playing demos but man the sadness that kicks in when you play something not good. It is like you're watching the dreams of the devs being snuffed out.
It is what it is.
Dedinitely shows just how cut throat competition is.
Not really given how now people deliberately choose indie games over traditional published games.
It doesn't matter how awful an indie game is, it will sell very well by virtue of being indie.
you really have no clue do you
>It doesn't matter how awful an indie game is, it will sell very well by virtue of being indie.
100 reviews means it probably sold 6000ish copies on the high end
And given how the game was very cheap to made, the developer still made a profit.
You are completely deranged.
I admire that your bait was good enough to catch some people.
>It doesn't matter how awful an indie game is, it will sell very well by virtue of being indie.
Lol
Lmao
wrong
my game isnt selling well at all
I've been using computers since the early 90's (I'm 38 years old) and I've work for a bank's IT department for the past eight years.
Never, not even once, I've heard about the amount of storage used by computer files to be referred as "weight"; it has always been referred to as size.
Sentry's been pretty fun and scratches that tower defense itch. Needs to be harder but it's just a demo I guess.
Reminder:
>if your game is over 5-10gb
>if you cant even be bothered to get rid of the unity splash screen
>if you waste my time with a plot introduction instead of going right into the gameplay
>if you treat the demo as a free beta/alpha test for playtesters
I will not wishlist your game. It's a damn DEMONSTRATION so show off what your game can do.
based but also based
>if you waste my time with a plot introduction instead of going right into the gameplay
Holy shit this is annoying
Yeah this is the worst. It's also bad when you're playing one of those combat focused games where you slowly get stronger throughout the game and gain more abilities and the demo spends the first 15 minutes teaching you your basic slash, back dash, etc. Start me off with the full kit! I have 50+ demos to play I don't have time for this "press A to jump" bullshit.
It's fine if they include that but give me the option to skip it
Anon out here huffing his own farts in public like a demo being big is somehow a bad thing and having a fricking splash screen somehow ruins the experience of playing a demo.
It's a red flag, not necessarily a bad thing in itself.
Unless its unskippable, in which case it is bad.
Why should I give that much credit to a no dev anon that never developed any successful game tho?
>I've participated in every single next fest for years
Incredible anon,
>if you waste my time with a plot introduction instead of going right into the gameplay
It depends of which kind game it is. For rpgs/story based it's ok.
I mean it's gotta be really good. Like you gotta be telling a really interesting story. If you're looking for story focused games then I guess you should have the patience to sit through that shit since that's what the full game is gonna be like.
based, also
>requires signing up for some third-party shit
I'd also add Discord invitation on the main menu as one the main means of communication.
This looks awesome.
yeah, I'm just not sure if picnic is some sort of weird tumblr metaphor.
Nah, I turned the demo on and Holmes gets down on one knee and asks Watson to move into a cottage with him.
I'm calling it as stealth homosexualry and deleting it.
>>if you cant even be bothered to get rid of the unity splash screen
>If you can't be bothered to waste 2 grand on pro
There is one that makes me not want to try the demo:
>Installs third party software besides the game, like an anti-cheating software
im not paying to remove the splash screen when i get that for free in 2 months
>if you waste my time with a plot introduction instead of going right into the gameplay
This but for every game ever
>starts the demo without letting you adjust settings, can't quit to the menu before completing the tutorial
>if you waste my time with a plot introduction instead of going right into the gameplay
this is the only thing I agree with you on. I don't need a 3-5 minute unskippable intro cutscene about your totally unique world and characters, just get to the fricking gameplay
>if your game is over 5-10gb
correct. shouldnt be that big
>if you cant even be bothered to get rid of the unity splash screen
not a big deal
>if you waste my time with a plot introduction instead of going right into the gameplay
if it's short then it can be tolerable
>if you treat the demo as a free beta/alpha test for playtesters
obviously if the game isnt done there are things to be suggested or added or adjusted
>>if you waste my time with a plot introduction instead of going right into the gameplay
If it's a story game and well written enough this is fine.
recommend me good shooting rougelike
go mecha ball
Has robocop's performance improved? It would stutter like crazy when I played it like a day ago.
I just tried it and it seems more stable than when I played a couple days ago. I only tried maybe 15 minutes, though, so I didn't get to the city hub.
I knew Pine Harbor would disappoint me but damn dude
Hows jusant
The mechanics are cool, but they made the game very linear for some reason.
Played this last next fest, its an insta buy for me. Loved that shit
is this game gay or not? having a hard time deciding

What game
Valve should honestly do a "Next Fest" graduates list.
Like show off all the indies that participated in the event and went on to succeed.
gonna be very controversial because how would you (or Valve) define "going on to succeed"? sales? wishlists? reviews? how many? how much?
Any good RPGs?
Puzzlebros.
Thoughts on Talos Principle 2?
>Start indie pixel game
>Fans whir up like a jet engine
>2000 FPS
>Alt-F4
Why are indie devs like this
They always forget, lol. They don't bother to do even the bare minimum optimization.
Gotta remind them on the Steam forums and pray they fix it before release.
>They don't bother to do even the bare minimum optimization
>2000 FPS
I hope developers can see how many people have ignored their game.
we cant
Literally the first steam next fest I can safely say there's not a single game I am interested in and can give a hard pass this time.
Kinda unrelated question but is anyone else having the back button take you to the library every time? It makes browsing anything on Steam really annoying
you are WORTHLESS
no one i repeat NO ONE loves you
Tell me something new
yes it's an evil demonic feature
Every other week the back button breaks, though it was never good for any of Steam's event pages since they've always fricking randomized where each game is in each category every time the page is loaded so you've always lost your place.
I always middle click so it opens a new tab
Hey Laika is pretty good.
Caught me by surprise that soundtrack is top notch also.
It reminds me of Lisa for some reason
Wait, they snuck Laika in again? Wasn't their first demo put on the next fest after that whole "one fest per demo" rule came in effect?
>Last Train home never loads past the first loading screen and locks the entire computer
Nice trojan, EuroBlack folk
sky children of the light was great
lets you play for a long ass time
asura the striker wont let me get into the game?? like what the hell?? i reinstalled, verified game files... like cmon man
before the previous sale ends are these games worth it?
Of those I've only played Scarlet Nexus.
Do you like action games like DMC?
Do you like action RPGs like the Tales games?
Did you play Code Vein? did you like it?
I got pretty far with Code Vein but never finished it. The biggest problem is that the controls and hits are floaty and weightless. I'd still say it's an overall pretty okay game though.
I bought Arise a while ago but still haven't started it.
Then you will like Scarlet Nexus.
>Klonoa
Yes.
Scarlet Nexus is good
Make sure to get SAS activation early
And play Yuito route first if you have doubts
So how is the furry Souls game?
whats it called?
Kristala. I have slow internet and Robocop takes priority to finish downloading first here.
you said furry and i expected something a lot sexier
looks somewhat unpolished and gives more of an older action feel than a souls-like
As the other anon said, it feels more like one of those old pre-souls hack and slash, but still I dig it.
I wishlisted it.
unwake any good?
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2376970/My_Horse_Bonded_Spirits/
finally I can't live out my fantasy of building a lasting relationship with my mare wife
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1208690/Ailuri/
>"These games are on your wishlist!"
>Play demos
>Remove games from wishlist
Based Next Fest lightening my backlog
This seems to be what happens every next fest for me. Remove 4 games from wishlist that were shit then add 1 kind of neat game to wishlist, which I will probably pirate when they released it at $60 + tax instead of the $15 it would be worth.
If you post about a game that you just notice by a quick search that no one posted its steam page yet, leaving the link here might help.
pic is the store + demo image, I wouldn't have wasted the bandwidth if I saw that image
I just grabbed bc I'm a shitter for art nouveau
>NO ONE WARNED ME DARKER SKINNED PEOPLE WOULD BE IN THIS GAME
holy homosexualron
I know what its going to be like. why bother?
>play actual video games
>itch.io
You're full of shit. Filtering out the "horror" streamerbaits is nowhere near enough.
just filtering to games that run in your web browser does a lot to get rid of low effort trash.
some people dont even know you can build for web on unity
but if you go in expecting assassin's creed type giant sprawling open world adventure i think you will obviously be disappointed
Also really hated the lack of readability due to the typeface and contrast between the text and background.
in the same boat, even more so after replaying Cyberpunk and desperately trying to not reinstall Deus again
Yeah it just doesn't play or look as good as Cyberpunk.
angerfoot needs to be out before 2024. that demo was friggin sweet
man I love steam next fest events, legitimately the best threads on Ganker. People are actually discussing and recommending videogames, it's a beautiful thing
Admins should make a split board that allows for vidya discussion all year round. Wouldn't that be something?
Any good exploration games? I wanted to try Jusant, but it doesn't even boot up on my toaster.
Why is the art style so fricking uninspired in a lot of these demos? We're talking things I'd expect to see on the phone app stores because it looks cheap in how its rendered.
>download japanese drift game
>bugs everywhere
>computer flys off into space during menus even with locked fps
unreal a shit
So far i only liked Solium Infernum, Tevi and KarmaZoo
I wish KarmaZoo would just come out right now. I could zone out to that for hours.
>the apocalypse party
mid survivor clone. easy to get stuck on shit, weapons all feel the same. level design might be better than average survivor games though
>Battlecore Robots
I haven't played custom robo but this was ass. I much prefer virtual on or armored core
>EMPTY SHELL
as another anon said, it's Teleglitch. It's much worse though. The b/w gimmick gets in the way of readability. Almost every aspect is done worse than Teleglitch a decade ago. Sad.
>veggie quest
excellent, had 1 or 2 levels that were tedious but still the best game I played
>elephant collection
It's just ports of flash games I played 15 years ago, but I love them
>cursorblade
10-20 fps on deck on low lol
>gunhead
runs great on deck, looks decent and feels pretty polished. way too easy and a lot more forgiving than the first game. will get boring fast if there isn't more challenge to it.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1960900/Judero/
this one has soul. its focused on the folk tales of the scottish border regions. their development cites mad god, brothers quay, and old medieval art as part of their inspirations. for music, they are looking at both music from the time period and modern folk from the regions they focus on.
I played this during the previous fest, so I surmise this wasn't featured during this one, and thus you are shilling, correct?
kino game though
i did too, saw the demo was still available n thought it was in this one too, didn't realize games were locked to once per fest.
I set all the graphic options to low so I could get 30 fps; while still looked pretty good, the game needs a lot of optimization.
what game?
Kristala AKA furry souls.
its like souls on easy mode
>Steam still doesn't ban GIFs from store pages
I don't want 200mb of GIFs making the actual screenshots take forever to show.
Has anyone played the 2nd best crab game of the event?
(Yes, I am shilling)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2416940/Space_Crab_VS/
I will always play anons game
>Installed a third party anticheat software during the demo installation
>The starting screen is literally "log in with Google / iOS"
I don't remember the last time I uninstalled a demo so fast
>installs what appears to be a Korean or Chinese game
>expects it not to be shit
I dunno what to tell you, anon. You saw the warning signs and made the choice to ignore them.
Banner of the Maid was amazing so I'm willing to give Chinese games a go.
I wasn't expecting that game to be a literal gacha game.
there's been a few exceptions to the rule. Wandering Sword from the NextFest before last is a superb clone of Octopath Traveler, even better I'd say.
Then there's Bing in Wonderland which is a pretty original roguelite if you can imagine that
I've noticed a trend as of the past few nextfests of chink and korean publishers using the event to shill their online games.
literally the only way for them to shill their games, no western media outlet would showcase an asian non-japanese game
big-time Korean and Chinese publishers are trying to sneak into the indie market with faux-indie pixel art games and NextFest demos under fake names, it's bizarre
Anybody try the warhammer game yet?
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2097230/Turnip_Boy_Robs_a_Bank/
the sequel to turnip boy commits tax evasion, instead of an open world zelda like it's now a Persona 3 type game where you play the same dungeon over and over again
... so a roguelite?
>persona
btw is the theme of thaumaturge a smt ripp-off? seems decent, but the demo is almost 20 gb lel
yeah roguelite I guess, I forgot it had a name
First turnip boy was so grossly overpriced. Although not sure what I was expecting from a dude with 2 moms.
you can get a key for $2, or it's on sale for $5

I don't think you'll need to have watched Love Live or the Yohane spinoff to understand what's going on outside of some references but I'm pretty sure the game is going to be dumbed down for people who are only playing it because it's Love Live.
Any good demos for my potato PC? I downloaded The Last Faith and so far it runs okay.

it's just straight up free for the full game

This is a full game? Like ending and everything? Cuz so far this is kino

Yeah it was meant for a different thread i accidentaly copy/pasted here
I'm thankful for the list but I was indeed more after a fest demo list than a general one. Still, I appreciate the thought. Hopefully some of these have a character creator in them.
I see someone gave you a list of full games.

What game?
Passageway of the Ancients.
So far this fest is complete dogshit.
how?
Artsy point-and-click game about woman confronting the wall. The writing is pretentious but its presentation is honestly very well-done for what it is, a hidden object game. And it seems like there will be at least some other gameplay that's not just pixel hunting, based on the one wire-connecting puzzle.
Any demos for games where I can make my own character?

Sandy's Great Escape is a fun little sokoban puzzle game. You're rewarded with crab facts if you clear stages in fewer moves.
Played so far, I have to find demos first
im gonna try
>mars tactics
>last train home
>thaumaturge
jack shit this next fest. I mean there's stuff but its stuff that existed since the last one, so I can't really count those. there's nothing new good that I've not already had on my wish list since last one.
>still survivors clones despite the genre being beyond bloated
>more farming sims despite the genre being bloated (though nowhere near what survivor bloat is)
>several moba and deep rock clones (which I don't understand cause deep rock sucked dick)
>"a unique DECKBUILDING adventure!"
just fricking kill me.
How were you supposed to know to jump over the little goomba?
Anyone tried the Love Live card game?
Oh wait frick. I mean the Metroidvania by Inti.
Out of these, I'm most looking forward to not getting to any of them
these dudes go so fricking hard
this looks Korean
It's very Korean, yes
What game is this?
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2210830/Quantum_Knights/
Quantum Knights, a third person shooter of knights with guns. I was about to clip some footage but my Shadowplay was off.
After fighting one boss as the big armored acid dude, I reached some Monster Hunter seeming town? I'll get back to you with gameplay footage.
For now, here's a screenshot of the inventory screen.
each of the item descriptions have a small little conversation in them
honestly kind of sovl
Didn't like it in Hunt Showdown, don't like it here.
So what is a "100% will buy on release" game for you?
I'm definitely getting karma zoo. I would get ghostrunner 2 if my pc wasn't too shit for it. Go mecha ball, horticular and crossroad OS I might get but it depends on their prices.
Tevi.
Robocop.
Baraton.
At least so far for me. Still have loads more to try.
breh how long is this
are the demos here time limited?
1 week, some are limited, some arent
some are, some arent
Anybody played the paradox factory builder one yet?
Any good city builders/settlement games? Is Pioneers of Pagonia good?
Any good raising sims?

Yeah, like princess maker, I think the last notable one was volcano princess
any good horror games?
i enjoyed the Holstin demo
How long will it last?
I'm traveling right now and will be home only after tomorrow.
Until the 16th.
normally a week or so
>all demos give me an "invalid platform" error this fest
Are you using Linux? Go to settings > compatibility then click on "enable steam play for all other titles"
I can't believe it's not Vanillaware!
yoo this game looks fire with the only caveat being it's 2d
this game is fun
/https://store.steampowered.com/app/811760/The_Last_Exterminator/
I may be a bit biased cause I love NuDoom and it's an absolute ripoff but I've had fun so far, if the level design was better it'd my favourite game from this fest, hope it costs less than 20$ when it releases
Nice
