Black person. The whole point of the store is to hide shit you don't like and wishlist shit you do to pick up when it's on sale. Everyone's store is different and it shows different recommendations based on what you and your friends play. Don't like Zoo tycoon? Hide a specific tag, or hide the whole series, hell hide the developer.

          I want BUSINESS TYCOON, asshat

Managing a farm is a business as well. Same for a zoo. Again, it takes two clicks to hide that shit. It takes way more to go on here and sperg up a whole thread.

Don't blame the system when normie shitters/publishers tag everything with a talent tree as "RPG".

Gamepass app is currated, tagged alright and has multiple discovery options. They even have a randomizer to dicethrow your enxt game.
Icthio is great once you followed a few devs you like games of because those will also rate and share games of similar interest. Also always fun to dig into gamejams when they fit your likings like I played 5 point&click adventures recently from a advanture jam.

These bootlickers are losers gay ass steam mods or members of We hate EGS steam group
Its stupid group tribalism even if steam tag or web browsing experience sucks one time I managed to find steam credentials of another user from some kinda bug kek u can still do it just takes you find old link and refresh it

Data is out there for you to see.

Data is out there to see if it matches that steam did right but this anon will ignore the other devs data on how new system sucks its called denial common trait of group thinking tribalist

        >will ignore the other devs data on how new system sucks
        Post them then.

Because we have lots of data and deepdives of how devs have deftly used Steam's systems after understanding it better and benefitting from it. Look at the pieces shit like gamediscover or Zukowski does. Ask indies around.

I'll tell you what's up, OP is fricking mentally challenged, that's what's up. He doesn't understand the tag clearly. I'm not saying the tag system is great, but he fricked up in making a point.

Steam tags are community-driven and people are stupid, so a better frontend wouldn't help at all. You'll just need to find games through your own research.

I dont just use the genre landing pages to find games. Steam has a stupid amount of discovery tools, best in the industry really, that I bounce between.

          Anonymous

That..is not what devs are talking about.
Infact every normal dev who doesnt get all their pr from outside of stema already has been complaining about how bad steam got for ever getting noticed even by people who like your style of games.
You can see this in this very OP where steam is pushing the big AAA and normalgay stuff rather than than games he wants when cliking on that very specific tag.

            Anonymous

Thats not true mate. This aint 2019 anymore.
Most devs agree that the Steam algorithm does a lot of heavy lifting now. Whether it be your first ten reviews. Or the sheer hidden strength of the discoverability queue. Or even the more "curated" stuff like demo events and themes festivals. Even the derided user tag system still works just because of how much it feeds data not just from games but from user habits as well.

The only ones STILL complaining about discoverability are literal shit devs.

The indie developers complaints were specifically about how saturated the store was to the point that their games might get lumped in with asset flips and actual shovelware. They were NOT complaining about being upstaged by AAA games because complaining about something being more popular than your game is stupid. Those complaints are outdated at this point because of how there are a hundred different indie publishers now that will be glad to help you with marketing, and even if you don't sign with them, even the laziest of social media advertising is enough to get your game listed higher than shovelware on Steam.

        Anonymous

The discovery queue is great for learning about currently trending games both new and old though they do have to be popular, while the new releases queue is good for learning about upcoming games whether AAA or indie, and the interactive recommender is good for finding similar games that are older and there's even a slider that lets you filter by age and niche. Steam also regularly holds demo fests practically every month to help indie developers get their game out there.

          >The discovery queue
I forgot that isa thing. I ddi do those for the sale quests and never once got a single game recommended to me I would wishlist.
          >steam demo fest
That's so little compard to what actual indie places like itchio do.

            Anonymous

Game marketing isn't a competition. The demo fests help, itch.io helps, constant community outreach helps, reaching out to streamers and Youtubers helps, everything helps.

like that pullstay game by the mentally ill japanese dev is up on the first page of next fest and hes moving to georgia because they pay very little tax meaning he gets to make more money off crowdfunding compared to japan

They don't want people to explore and spend time on smaller games. They want to steer people towards certain games, so those people can be peer-pressured into buying whatever new thing.
Gaming, like most things today, has become nothing but a cult of mental-children.
