>he doesn't use the chinese client command to launch the alternate ui optimized for poor hardware so chinks can play their 2d porn games
lol
can you stop using derogatory words?
no. go jump on a sword moron
Get a brain hemorrhage, homosexual.
what's the command
-tsm1989
>-tsm1989
lel
>he doesn't just close steam and not play games on steam
>chinks
>pajeets
>ohioBlack folk
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE 2023!!!!!
yea and your webbrowser probably takes three times that. who gives a shit, ram is meant to be used. use the launch commands and mini view if you don't have ram for some reason
>3 times
Your average WB need 4GB, my ungoogled chromium need 3.5 rn with 70 tabs
>with 70 tabs
What a fricking noob right. I have 1700 right now
Wait...is that possible?
Yes.
>webbrowser probably takes three times
that's not a frickling excuse you inbred troglodyte.
>ram is meant to be used
Yeah, by the games I play.
If my OS, my browser and Steam running at the same time take 8GB, that's 8GB that's not available for the game.
>b-but modern browsers free memory when the rest of the system needs it
No they don't.
>No they don't.
You're right they don't. The OS makes them.
Idiot.
The OS doesn't just take back the memory your app has already allocated you moron.
the only thing the OS does is kill random programs when it's unable to satisfy requests for memory
it's taking 1GB of mine, yet i'm not using it for anything, i have no store pages open or anything
>ram is meant to by occupied by incredibly bloated idle programs
unavailable ram is wasted ram
browser ui
>now
I remember when the thing filled RAM on its own, while having an independent browser open inside of it for the store page. Playing games was a nightmare back then.
>cant shift tab without it lagging the frick out
How did they frick this up so bad.
Who gives a shit, I've installed 32gb of ram specifically so that I won't have to close shit every time I wanna play some ram demanding game. There's also a minimal ui command for poverty laptop users.
>Who gives a shit, I've installed 32gb of ram specifically so that I won't have to close shit every time I wanna play some ram demanding game.
gj answering your own question
>I've installed 32gb of ram specifically so that I won't have to close shit every time I wanna play some ram demanding game.
Anon. The new Steam Client has a memory leak that has sent people as high as 6~7GB of RAM use in an hour, while sitting there passively in the background while they were playing a game. Your 32 GB doesn't mean anything. It will fill it up all the same. Steam was built in Gaben's own image: hungry, hungry hippo.
>There's also a minimal ui command for poverty laptop users.
I thought they removed that last year
And how much was it before 400?
this is not what Ganker is about
stop it already
Ganker is for everything except playing vidya
Commit suicide, Black person.
WHY IS EVERYTHING SO FRICKING BIG NOW?
When you right click the taskbar icon the context menu takes up 25% of the screen. Shutting Steam down takes up a massive chunk of the center of the screen. WHY????
When pajeets need a simple function they download a library of 10000 to use only one
the redesign is so fricking bad. in the overlay they moved everything from the center to the edges of the screen, like WHY???????????? no fricking reason to change anything on the overlay. and now it's a bunch of buttons that i need to hover over now. just another example of why keeping UI designers on payroll is a bad idea
What's all this about a redesign?
yeah i was fricking stupid to update, i got tired of being asked
Yeah I've been noticing a performance hit, many lag spikes since the update 16GB RAM here it would be hell with less.
Middle click doesn't open new tabs anymore. That's probably the only thing on Steam I actually use
I have 32GB of ram, it cost me like $80.
What is your problem?
The problem is dipshits like you who would rather eat whatever developers shit out than run optimized and mature software.
>NOOOO NOT 500 MB OF MY 16 GB OF RAM WHATEVER WILL I DO WITH THE OTHER 15.5?!
>defending bloated, unoptimized shit
>not even being paid to do it
Ganker would defend eating shit
>bloated, unoptimized
Proof?
That's literally the reason why modern games have become fricking garbage in terms of optimization
>it runs bad? buy better hardware!
Now we are at the point where every fricking modern game needs to be put inside and NVME if you don't want to experience village stuttering
Bitching and moaning over a webforum meant to share .jpegs of vidya butts is not going to unbloat your silly DRM app either.
Now you can be a big boy and download more RAM, stay stuck with what ever performance issue you are dealing with, or delete the program all together. Either way, you are still a homosexual and can basically just kys lol

in case you want to roll back
To piggbyback on this
also do this
Open Task Manager and select the "Details" tab
Right-click on one of the "steamwebhelper.exe" processes and click "Open file location"
In the Explorer window, right-click "steamwebhelper.exe" and select "Properties"
Switch to the "Security" tab and click on "Advanced"
Click on "Disable inheritance" and select the 1st option (conversion into explicit rights)
Double click the entry for "Users"
Uncheck the box saying "Read, Execute" (will also uncheck the 2 boxes above) and press "OK"
Repeat last 2 steps for any individual user in the list that doesn't want Chromium running
Click "OK" on this window and "OK" on the file properties
Now go up to Steam's installation directory (3 levels up) and apply the same treatment to "steamerrorreporter.exe" and "steamerrorreporter64.exe" to prevent bogus error reports to Valve for this hack.
To revert, simply delete the files who's security settings you changed and restart Steam, or reverse the process described above to regain the GUI. (steamwebhelper.exe is in bincefcef.win7[x64])
Note: It will now take 1 minute from launch until you have access to your games, due to Steam waiting for the Chromium process to connect to the main program. You will now have Steam only using 45-60 Mbs, though it only works on the versions prior to the Jun 14th update.
homie I ain't reading all that
Must suck having two braincells.
That's all I need to rub together
>though it only works on the versions prior to the Jun 14th update.
autism
Slop-sucking Shill
use -vgui and it be ~200 mb
500MB out of 32GB
cute
>french
Woah man, calm down!
>500MB out of 128GB
Samegayging from
Steam sure is saturating my memory!
>a game launching platform needs more than 50Mb because...because
>500 mb of ram is a problem
Have you tried not being poor? Anyone who's not a turd worlder has 16 gigs at least
What country are you from, champ?
I have 32 gigs stop allowing bloat for some ui shit nobody cares about
B-but anons! What social platform will these losers use if they don't use steam? That's why they need more bloatware, otherwise they would, dare I say it, just play games form it!
Ganker only uses steam for steam friends autism and doesn’t play games anyway
It has a memory leak.
Leave it on any page with a photo gallery and it'll load an extra copy of the image into memory every time it changes.
Just download more ram you stupid morons
Link pls
>$50 for 32gb ddr4 RAM
>Ganker doesn't have half a GB of RAM to run steam
Are you kidding me guy's?
>ddr4
Hey pal, not all of us got those kind of bucks
Why the frick would I need half a GB of ram to run a program that isn't markedly more complex than it was two decades ago?
I don't fricking know dude, I just can't believe at least in a first word country somebody can't acquire $50 to upgrade their computer. Every Black person in this country has an iphone and $250 jordans as well as at least $20 a day for weed.
Clear one mailing in the king's yarn
It’s a fricking pajeetscript webapp running on chrome.
It was taking that much for me before the update. The update didn't change anything in that respect for me.
>Instead optimizing data developers bloat everything up into oblivion
Frick this gay future
>steam has been taking 500mb memory for years, ever since original library update
>now with new UI update tech illiterates are falling for memes of "pajeet web software"
Dumbest board on this website
If it has a memory leak, than they already know and are working on fixing it, no?
Never had ram issues, I just get this shit where steamwebhelper will randomly start using 99% cpu and turning every game into a slideshow until I reboot
There are entire videos on youtube explaining how software today is complete and utter garbage, including video game software and engines.
Oh well if some literally who youtuber said it, it must be true
>he doesnt have 64gb ddr5 ram in 2023
lol, lmao even
Protip: You don't need Steam to be running fullscreen/fully launched to play Steam games.
You do for a lot of games
Why are all you disloyal moronS so critical of this? If steam says you need 128 GB of RAM, you go out and immediately purchase 128 GB of RAM. If the installer needs 1 TB or space, you PURCHASE a new SSD with that amount of space. If steam says you need to install Windows 12 or Linux, you install Windows 12 or learn Linux.
Stop being such morons and do what Gaben tells you to do. He needs your money to purchase another yacht, another submarine and/or another sports car for his son. You need to be loyal to his regime or steam can't continue to save PC gaming.
>500 mb
I wish. This is with just the library in Steam vs 100 tabs in Firefox. Webshit is such a disgrace. Now Steam uses twice as much memory as Tim's turd launcher, how the tides have turned.
For you my friend.
This new update is fricking trash. It's nice that wishlisted games on sale show up in my alerts but clicking them just takes me to my wishlist instead of the game's store page. Also opening Steam while I game is open now just opens it in-game through the overlay instead of a new window like I'm used to.
But worst yet is when I search for a game on the store page, it keeps taking me to my library randomly. What the frick? Also closing a store page doesn't fully close it. The game's video will start playing in the background even after closing it and I have to manually open Steam back up and change pages. What the FRICK?
Oh no, it uses 1/64th of my total!
How do you fix the library so that it separates games by their owner? Before the update family shared games were under their owner's tab, now it's all one list.
takes 500 mb of ram now
Reject modernity, embrace tradition.
Que?
Add -vgui to the steam shortcut target.
mine is using ~70mb but i've had these settings ticked since the last big library redesign happened some years ago.
You b***h about this, yet the REAL issue is that steam no longer starts minimized and has no option to do so.
