The worst part is that nu-Windows genuinely doesn't have any real advantage. I assume that Valve hired too many code monkeys and they don't want to bother with keeping up the support, they just want to make use of Chromium, and they don't know how to make a lite Steam that doesn't use Chromium features. Nobody even knows about what the advantages of Win11 are so the only real replacement for Win10 now is jumping ship to Linux which doesn't have anywhere near as much convenience and doesn't really provide a practical advantage since you'll most likely be doing the same things you do on Windows, like play videogames. It's kinda alienating.

I unironically miss being able to walk into a store and being able to buy PC games that are on a disc. No downloading, no key-code redemptions, just putting the disc into my PC and having the installer auto-run. Auto-patching is nice, but the only reason I can tolerate Steam killing the retail and 2nd hand market is that you can generally get CD Keys pretty cheaply. Although you kind of have to act quick because an ever increasing number of games are getting delisted, I already own like 30 games you can't even fricking buy any more.

Anyway, physical games were going to die on pc regardless of steam, there were online platforms before and after steam, and the average pc user was more likely to use their disc tray for music or movies and even those fell to online distribution. Only way it'd make sense to make them physical again would be flash storage so people don't require disc trays, though flash has the issue of losing charge overtime so that's not perfect either. and publishers are going to oy when they have to cut their profit by making physical releases which is also why consoles are pushing for digital as well

What did adding crossplay do to frick the game?
Requires usage of EOS which sends your data to Epic. Disabled filter by region, server disconnects, and no longer lets you do safehouse missions. They also are having issues with saves being deleted, but I don't know if that is related to crossplay or the overall update.
EOS is actually a much worse online service than steamworks. But you don't actually play games on PC so you wouldn't know. Several games are downright unplayable ever since EOS replaced steamworks. This should be optional and not mandatory.

I came to this thread because you people seem to have a grave misunderstanding of what a successful business should be like. You see, the key to success is to have your business offer no real advantage over the most successful player on the market while keeping the prices the same as the other stores. It is also important to piss of people by trying to force your store whenever you can as well as anger people with controversial decisions like removing Unreal from the stores and shutting down all master servers related to the game.
These types of actions are what truly wins people over and makes them abandon the other store which they have used for the past 15 years and which hosts their entire gaming library. This approach has literally never backfired and never will.

He is right though. Zoomer gen have declined in technical skills compared to millennials and gen x. The latter 2 grew up having to tinker with software and hardware. Gen Z have grown up with sealed hardware, restricted access to software settings and apps and programs to simplify and do everything for them.
