This works pretty well if you are knowledgeable enough to set up GPU passthrough and your PC supports it. Just get one of the last cards supported by Windows XP like 750 Ti, it's more than enough for any /vr/ game even with hires patches.

    Quake 1 and 2.
Even at full price they are worth it.
They both have enhanced graphics, all the expansions and a new episode each. There is also multiplayer.

Disciples 2 is one dollar and it's phenomemal even if you don't like strategy games. One of the best along with Heroes od Might & Magic and Age of Wonder.

Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX is a port of the original Japanese version, with English language, describable as "Pokémon but actually good". There isn't just the managing aspect, but also collectables in the form of new monsters and breeds, light dungeon crawling and fighting elements.

Worms Armageddon is the best in the series and online games, leagues and tournaments are being hosted to this day. A genre-shifting title where you can be a tactician, or, depending on the scheme, something completely different. There are hundreds of game modes, but for example, roping ones are all about velocity and hectic gameplay.

Blood: Fresh Supply and Duke Nukem 3D: World Tour are not recommended, because in some way or another they are inferior compared to their predecessors. As a rule of thumb, stay away from remakes, reboots and remasters. There are too few exceptions, so don't risk your money.

      >Duke Nukem 3D: World Tour
It has some good things about it, like the True3D, new lighting effects, no texture filtering, developer commentary and the new episode, which is actually very good.

I honestly don't understand why it has so many negative comments.

Because removing the old version in favor of a single new episode with some eye candies was a dickish move. Megaton came with the Atomic edition as well, and three expansions too.

I think those missing third party expansions are in the steam workshop, so you can still play them.

          Here is one of them

I hate how you still have to patch some old games with all kinds of tools and wrappers because the homosexual devs, to this day, never bother fixing up the games themselves.

Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy always goes for dirt cheap whenever Steam has a sale. It's a really good PS2-era action-adventure game.

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth is going for like a dollar fifty on Steam but be prepared to patch it cause it's a massive bugfest. Still probably the best Lovecraft game you'll ever play.

I'm not familiar with this HD version, but it looks good to me.
