No, you never have to go online to play games on PS5 and you can play older builds no problem. You can play Last Guardian at 60 FPS on PS5 but you have a disc copy with 1.0 on it, 1.0 runs at 60 FPS but any version newer than that doesn't. It's really weird.

That's because when it released it had a really shitty framerate and frame pacing on PS4 so to try to fix it they introduced a framerate cap, locking the game at 30fps.
With the PS5 backcompat it runs a lot better on 1.0 and can it the initial target of 60fps.
Most users install all the day one patches because they have it set to auto update. Whatever the journos saw, most users will see. You have to turn off the auto update or not have your console hooked up to the internet to play the 1.0. The devs basically snuck the uncensored version out for people that are in the know.

Yeah, the best outcome would be that the backlash makes Sony undo the censoring but that seems unlikely. But it's like how in Lies of P, playing the 1.0 off the disc is a valid choice in how to play the game because the subsequent patches nerfed the difficulty of the bosses. Having access to both versions is good and the one takeaway everyone should have from this is to always buy physical so you have options. 1.00 uncensored
1.001 censored outfits to protect the precious reviewers, possibly because some homosexual game cried about it to Snoy.
1.002 release patch that introduced NG+ and new outfits, while also fixing another thing jornos whined about which was the Hard R they saw as they progressed through the game.
That way only a few people who didn't patch could see the uncensored outfit while also seeing the Hard R and why gays like cowboy already got the censored shit.

No, you never have to go online to play games on PS5 and you can play older builds no problem. You can play Last Guardian at 60 FPS on PS5 but you have a disc copy with 1.0 on it, 1.0 runs at 60 FPS but any version newer than that doesn't. It's really weird.

That's because when it released it had a really shitty framerate and frame pacing on PS4 so to try to fix it they introduced a framerate cap, locking the game at 30fps.
With the PS5 backcompat it runs a lot better on 1.0 and can it the initial target of 60fps.

Most users install all the day one patches because they have it set to auto update. Whatever the journos saw, most users will see. You have to turn off the auto update or not have your console hooked up to the internet to play the 1.0. The devs basically snuck the uncensored version out for people that are in the know.

1.00 uncensored
1.001 censored outfits to protect the precious reviewers, possibly because some homosexual game cried about it to Snoy.
1.002 release patch that introduced NG+ and new outfits, while also fixing another thing jornos whined about which was the Hard R they saw as they progressed through the game.
That way only a few people who didn't patch could see the uncensored outfit while also seeing the Hard R and why gays like cowboy already got the censored shit.
Here's hoping that they restore the old outfits in some way, like adding them as a variant.

If there are multiple print runs, then some of the physicals may be printed with a censored version as well. Gotta make sure it's 1.0 to start with or it won't help.
