Any other games like Stellaris? I want to make a space empire and have access to cool sci-fi tech. Stellaris itself just gets old after a while.

distant worlds 1 and 2
i liked DW1. Heard bad things about DW2 and kind of forgot about it.
DW1 is fun tho
>DW
its nothing like stellaris
You're right, and that's a good thing. Stellaris is just eu4 in space with a race creator.
It’s pretty similar. Stellaris focuses more on planet development while DW focuses more on the empire itself.
Doesn't get better than Aurora4x
redpill me abut Aurora4x game pls
i always want try it but im scared of it compexity
Is this game as hard as everyone says it is?
It's like Dwarf Fortress where it's presented as being uber hard due to an obtuse UI.
It isn't that hard, though there's a lot of busy work when you've got a lot of ships.
Its biggest flaw is that it gets tedious fast.
Earth is running out of all 11 resources the game tracks.
>find planet with huge Res1 deposit
>send mines, infrastructure and colony ships there
>the colony continues to grow
Unrest rises! Send military ships to maintain stability.
>send military ships
>they need to be regularly overhauled
>overhauling costs multiple resources
>two options: send them to your home planet to overhaul then manually send them back OR build installations that allow overhauling on the new planet AND set up resource transfers so the overhauls are actually possible
Multiply this by 11 and you have a beautiful mess of micromanagement that I'm convinced nobody has played through.
Frick me if ship design and terraforming isn't the best I've ever seen though.
>Any other games like Stellaris?
Not really.
Mod the game until it's unrecognizable once it gets old.
Sins of A Solar Empire: Rebellion was pretty cool, and the gameplay was actually very similar to Stellaris. The empire building was way less advanced with fewer mechanics but the combat was fairly detailed since it's more of a space RTS with some Civ features built on top of it.
'twas fun playing co-op, I remember.
They all get old after awhile.
I like Endless Space both 1 and 2 but I've grown to prefer 2.
Sword of the Stars has some cool aspects but the technology tree became irritating after awhile. (Tech sometimes doesn't complete due to budget overruns and you can only complete 1 tech per turn no matter how advanced you are).
If you want to go old school there's Ascendancy that you can play in DOSBox but the AI is super weak in that one (even with the Antagonistic patch) plus the game play is simplified compared to modern 4x space games. Fun tech tree and ship design though.
I can't stand ES1 AI. The action they do make no sense. One second there asking to do cooperative treated with me. Next turn war is declared.
Also, hate how the AI can just shit infinite number of huge fleets out of no where. Doesn't matter how many I wipe out they keep coming.
Imperator
Endless Space (2), Sins of a Solar Empire, Distant Worlds, i'm awaiting response from my space-4x autist buddy
Distant Worlds 2 is probably the most like Stellaris because they are both an automation game with a space 4x theme. After that, I suppose Vic 3 is the next closest game.
I would add gal civ 2 and sword of the stars 1 to the other recommendations. Both were excellent.
what would be ideal in a stellaris-like game?
tiles? different FTL types?
New Stars on Steam
Based on that title does it have any relation to the win95 stars! game?
That one was great if you didn't mind the lack of graphics
Too bad I haven't been able to get it to run on 64 bit CPU
I wonder if it's possible to make some simple turn-based space empire game using AI. With ChatGPT you could get infinite amount of events and potential technologies and one of those image generators could give you unending fresh stream of alien races to exterminate.
Galciv 4 is like that
Master of Orion (2016) is on sale right now for $5.
Worth it?
>for $5
yes, but get the 5x mod. it makes the game way better
Which is the better option, MOO(2016)((modded since even all the reviews I've looked up saw the only way to play) or Galciv 4? Since they're both turn-based.
Is GalCiv 4 a improvement over 3? I've never played 3 but I got a lot of hours on 2.
I haven't played either but I'd say MOO. Galciv 4 is probably okay, but they've been inspired by Stellaris, including having a bajillion DLC. Also I think there's a caveat to using the AI parts but I forget what.
