It did. The game had such a low player count that it took up to 15-20 minutes to find games in the most populated game mode. Ubisoft was forced to add crossplay to try and salvage it.
Yeah, I know. Ubisoft first tried to get the game to become popular like Rainbow Six Siege did by giving it away for free but that didn't work and that happened years after it launched, then they added crossplay because wait queue's for all the game modes were laughably long.
I never had issues finding a dominion match even at this games lowest

Then your memory is shit, or you're lying, because it's a well known fact that this game had an issue with finding games, you can look up multiple instances of people talking about this online regardless of the platform. Ubisoft specifically added crossplay to counter this issue.
I'm mad that they drained the soul out of this game over the course of all these years. >Release busted characters and fix them when you can buy them with in game currency >Get rid of 90% of ledges >Get rid of stunning moves >Remove unique mechanics like Shinobi range attacks or Shugoki instakill hug at low health >Homogenize damage across the board >Get rid of post game minion animations for gay ass poses (Which you can buy more of) >Aggressively pander to the Chinese >Introduce literal magic and dragon n shieet to a setting that didn't have that >No story DLC >Introduce Chimera and Horkos so that you have good guys and bad guys instead of differently thinking factions >Make Pirates all female and Chinese >Ignore atrocities from Aztec, Egyptian, and Muslim empires to further paint Horkos and Knights as the bad guys >Completely forsake the original vision of this game
Frick Ubi.
I played For honor for at least 4 years. I was in the vg general 24/7. i've got tons of webms i can watch to remind me of the old times.
The game started off as a cool little boyish fantasy where you played with action figures based on your favorite weapons and martial arts. It may have been unbalanced, but it was cool and fun, which is more important. Over time it became something that it wasn't.
>Release busted characters and fix them when you can buy them with in game currency
Not really a thing anymore. Newer heroes tend to get buffs after a few weeks rather than nerfs >Get rid of 90% of ledges
Good change. Also that was almost all in duels where an insta-kill doesn't fit the idea of the mode >Get rid of stunning moves
Yeah, I miss them and stamina bullying >Remove unique mechanics like Shinobi range attacks or Shugoki instakill hug at low health
FH is a fighting game and ranged attacks should never have existed. Also a move that was so easy to land and would just fully heal you and kill your enemy was dumb. Also It still heals you. >Homogenize damage across the board
They reduced damage across the board. Because a couple bad reads would just kill you which isn't fun >Get rid of post game minion animations for gay ass poses (Which you can buy more of)
$$$$$ >Make Pirates all female
saves development costs >Introduce literal magic and dragon n shieet to a setting that didn't have that >Introduce Chimera and Horkos so that you have good guys and bad guys instead of differently thinking factions
no one cares about the season themes except you >Make Pirates all female and Chinese >Ignore atrocities from Aztec, Egyptian, and Muslim empires to further paint Horkos and Knights as the bad guys
seethe chud? >Frick Ubi.
at least we agree on somthing
>removed minion kill animations making dominion unironically annoying to play >turned the end-match screen into e-sports friendly where you can show off your hard-earned emotes!
I want a shitty ass For Honor ClassicTM instead. Are they still trying to make everyone speak english?
She also apparently screams so much on every input, I dropped the game a while ago, but seems ubi just can't make a long awaited heroes not a monkey paw >Pirate (goofy idea but could be fun) >A female only chink, with boring moveset and shit cosmetics (missed out on a fricking blackbeard like chad, wtf) >Properly armored warriors (afeera and varangian) >Only female and shitty broken moveset (afeera at least uses cool cqc and flips, it is kinda cool)
I just remember being a Conqueror and Kensei fan. Is it worth picking back up? I stopped after Black Prior came out. What would be the biggest shock in returning for me?
Are you fricking kidding me? Did they just patch the game to make every character the same? Reflex guard isn’t even a problem if you’re actively blocking shit.
assasins had the lowest winrates in the game. They also all had reflex guard.
With the game moving from duel focused to teamfight focused the cries to remove it became loud enough
That is nuts. Is the partying concept the same where you typically can get a free side heavy after a heavy parry and a long opening if you parry a light?
Game has changed a lot since you last played I think. Heavy parries give a light and light parries give a heavy for the most part.
A while back they shaved 100ms off of every attack to improve lag compensation and make more of the moves unreactable.
You can still parry lights with a decent reaction speed (< 280ms) but you can't differentiate between a light and a heavy fast enough so if you make the wrong read on a light parry you eat a heavy
That was a long time ago. I think it was before the core combat update which changed up the way combat worked to keep people from staring at each other.
If you were used to reacting to everything your opponent did, that isn't a thing anymore. Regular lights are harder (but still possible) to react to and you are generally far safer to be the one attacking rather than the one defending.
Also all dodge attacks count as light parries now.
They ditched reflex guard so that isn't holding her or the other assassins back anymore. They also gave her some minor buffs, but she still can't force reactions if someone won't lock on to you
It had a rough launch. The game ran on a P2P system which didn't work very well.
That plus the meta back them was to sit around and wait for your opponent to do something because you could react to everything
That being said, it's still a successful live service title. Which is more than you can say for 90% of games that claim that moniker.
Across all platforms For Honor still has hundreds of thousands of active players. As of last year there was still between 250 and 400 thousand people who played the game over the course of a week.
And when a new hero comes out a lot of people buy it. Ubi probably makes a few mil every time they release a hero
>That plus the meta back them was to sit around and wait for your opponent to do something because you could react to everything
Yeah i remember having fun with it on release at first until i realized how strong parry was. I remember fighting someone who also realized parry was good and it just became a staring match.
How long did it take them to really fix that and what did they end up changing to do it? It made me think about how careful most fighting games are with react able moves and having a game with moves that slow seemed really hard to properly balance against people with strong reactions.
The Core Combat Update (CCU) came out august of 2020.
The major changes were faster attacks, unreactable feints, and reduced damage almost across the board so you won't get killed after 2 bad reads.
They also removed stamina cost for being blocked or parried, improved lag compensation (< 100 ping between you and enemy is equal to 0 ping essentially), and added some nerfs to the lights to discourage spamming them now that they are harder to react to.
Light attack damage was reduced further than heavies, they cost slightly more stamina, and finishing an attack with a light will mean that the opponent's next light will come out faster than yours (frame advantage/disadvantage)
The other major changes are to the heroes themselves. The devs integrated the testing branch into the base game to speed up testing changes.
These "testing grounds" last a couple weeks and often involve large changes to a hero that has fallen behind or is in need of a rework. So a lot of the heroes you played back then will be very different now which can be a shock
What do you mean exactly by unreactable feint? As in even if i know you're going to feint me to bait a parry i still have to guess what you're going to cancel into?
The rest of those changes seem really good but being negative on a successful light hit seems really iffy to me, but maybe it was needed to prevent the meta going too offensive.
> unreactable feint
before the update you could tell if they were going to feint or not without making a read. Now you actually can't tell if they are going to follow through or feint the attack.
No you don't have to predict what they will do after the feint
> negative on a successful light
negative on a successful light finisher, not hit. So if you hit with a light you can chain into a heavy finisher to be frame positive.
It discourages you from just hitting lmb over and over again and instead finish with your other moves.

I see, so they expanded the window to feint, that's a solid change. I will pick up the game again, but are there not option selects in that case? As in go for the parry and if i don't see the parry go off immediately feint and be ready to react to something else?

OH RIGHT. I forgot about that. They were all removed a bit ago. Dodge attacks will still counter a feint to guardbreak or light in most cases but they are also light parries now so you get a nice punish

Wow, they had to make some big changes to put parry in check. So even high level 1v1 is pretty fast paced then?

I'd say so. I can't remember a time when we would just stare at eachother anymore. It's much easier to open up your opponent
for honor is so weird, half the time Im beating down on the other team, the other half Im stumbling around drunk
and still have a higher win rate in 4v4 then that highest average
When I used to play (around Vortiger release to Astrea) Vikings were dominating the world map which suprised me because I thought knights would be the most popular
I loved my Valkyrie. I did not like the Gladiator because it was everything I wanted the Valkyrie to be. Valkyrie got an update, everyone played her, then everyone knew how to abuse the frick out of her. Felt good to finally be challenged and realize I was actually amazing at the game.
I only played because of the story and the bots, but once I realized the T3 bots would just read inputs or some bullshit, my enjoyment of the game plummeted. I'm very far behind on a lot of heroes now, too.
frick anyone who played Orochi. Those homosexuals were so goddamn annoying on release. Every fricking weeb played them and they all acted like pussies.
Not really, just confused and sad at the state of the world.
>Its actually still supported
>It just got a new character
WTF I thought this game flopped the year it came out
It did. The game had such a low player count that it took up to 15-20 minutes to find games in the most populated game mode. Ubisoft was forced to add crossplay to try and salvage it.
Crossplay didn’t happen after launch? It happened like years after lol
Yeah, I know. Ubisoft first tried to get the game to become popular like Rainbow Six Siege did by giving it away for free but that didn't work and that happened years after it launched, then they added crossplay because wait queue's for all the game modes were laughably long.
I mean I think you are confusing them adding in servers and not p2p
No, I'm not.

ye its mad right. and people say suicide squad will put rocksteady out of business
It’s still slop poorly Balanced slop
Dropped this a few years ago.
Is Peacekeeper good yet?
Peacekeeper was op at launch frick you assassin mains
I actually main __Warden
No way.
Had a fricking blast, me and my friend would absolutely dunk on people in 2v2 matches shitting on honorabu gays all day.
I kind of miss it honestly
Here do something funny type in for honor ryona on YouTube
Didn’t for honors initial bad start kick start how much gaming doomer channels?
I think it's an alright game. It also outlived a lot of other live service slop.
I'm mad that they drained the soul out of this game over the course of all these years.

Frick Ubi.
All 3 factions always wanted to kill each other
Less insta kills and ledges are good
It was always dumb how falling in a puddle instantly killed you
I don’t hate the idea of chimera or Apollyon simps it makes sense and that’s what I feel they were setting up
The Fantasy stuff I’ll give you
You are right but
>Making the knights bad
Loool knight fanboys always crying

I too miss heavy party gives you a free guard break
They stopped the new Va thing but do you really wanna go back to gear stats, staring contests, and parries being a death sentence?
>Finally make a Varangian hero
>It's female only
Lmao vikinggays on suicide watch
She also apparently screams so much on every input, I dropped the game a while ago, but seems ubi just can't make a long awaited heroes not a monkey paw

I just wish pirate had a make option
Jaguar Warrior was received well
His moveset could be a little more fleshed out but yes he’s the best hero in a while
dont forget all the new male heroes, Kyoshin/Ocelot/Medjey are all very exposed with skins with their nipples out
>Kick
>Punch
>Sweep
>Tackle

Nice sword fighting game. Bushido Blade still undefeated.
You speak like you are uninitiated.
Female Warden or Peacekeeper?
Female shinobi
Played it when it was free with PS+ years ago. Pretty fun, Centurion is cool af.
This would have been an amazing single player game
It has a campaign
And it was good. I wish skull and bones was a mix of ass creed black flag and for honor.
The campaign was okay everyone thinks Apollyon is the coolest shit for some odd reason
I just remember being a Conqueror and Kensei fan. Is it worth picking back up? I stopped after Black Prior came out. What would be the biggest shock in returning for me?

there's no way they're still doing that tired meme, right?
Still hovering around 67M last time I downloaded it, you'd think new Knigs would've put their banners somewhere else by now
I came back recently after nearly 3 years I’m enjoying it again I’ll say that. I really wish pirate wasn’t fricked or stuck being a woman.
not at all, I'm glad one game from back when things were good still exists. Surprised your guys aren't having world wide tournaments yet
