Nah.
I think BG3 has some od the dumbest writing in gaming. Mostly in act III. It's a new level of stupid writing I was not ready for.
And I would still play it over DA:O.
Because BG3 has fun gameplay and amazing encounter design. And DA:O has mostly trash combat.
Nah man, I'm not playing deep roads ever again.
Deep roads was kino. the real run killer for me was the fade, i had to turn off my brain and dissociate through that to ever complete it in all my runs.
I didn't play it.
But I assume, like all modern Todd games, it has a non-story.
Something bland can't be offensively stupidby definition.
You can't have a bad story with some Bethezda story placeholder.
Duh.
This, DA:O has good writing and characters but you fight mostly trollocs... I mean hurlocks and genlocks for the entire game. The magic system is fun but besides that the lackluster encounter design wears you down fast.
Please, anon. When people say a video game has good writing they mean "good writing for a video game"

Whenever I hear about DA:O writing I have hard time trying not remember the five hundred lore dump pages none of which are "good writing for a video game". Neither is anything even tangentially related to religion, of which DA:O has tons of, or shit like dindu elves.
What’s with you gays that hate DAO combat. It’s the only top down game that will ever have combat that good. You can play it slow, or you can refuse to pause or go fast. It’s the best part of the game. Unless you try to play archer. Then you’re fricked.
Hey, remember that dead historical character that added some flavour to the world?
WELL, CHECK THIS OUT! NOW HE'S A GAY SQUID THAT LIVES IN YOUR POCKET~!!!
ISN'T THAT AWESOME?!?!?!
Nah.
This whole thing is spelled out in the song that plays at the inn.
Also, it's heavily suggested in his sword stats. And some bits of his dialogue when you explore his room (butter knife).
Hey, remember two fan favourite characters from BG2 and Tob?
WHAT IF WE TURN THEM INTO GENERIC VILLAINS SO YOU CAN KILL THEM?!
THAT'S WHAT YOU EARTHLINGS LIKE RIGHT?!
>Devil teases you the whole game. Like he's a big deal or something. >He's not. >No reason to care if you are not interested in githyanki succession. >If you cast talk with the dead incubus lover, you might learn that Raphael like to have his anus penetrated. And he's never on top.
Thanks Larian.
Listen here, dimwit.
It might blow your mind, but there are way to write degeneracy, hell and devils in A FANTASY APPROPRIATE FASHION.
And not a neverending stream of "humorous" slashfiction.
>a neverending stream of "humorous" slashfiction
A terrible blow for the prestigious Forgotten Realms setting which was famously NOT written by a fat nerd as an excuse to have his self insert chosen one character go around the world banging goddesses
>Because BG3 has fun gameplay and amazing encounter design
If bg3 had the same customisable AI as dao, then by setting up a simple "approach enemy-hit-repeat" you could automatically complete 90% of fights even on tactical difficulty.
Build variety sucks in DAO. You can be >basic tank >basic 2handed warrior >backstab rogue >basic archer >basic healer
or >offensive mage, the only class that can make affect the strategy thanks to all the magic spells
Deep roads were never shit on until the last couple of years, the hatred for them is zoomer revisionism. The fade is the only objectively shit part of DA:O.
I always thought the ending where you and Alistair just go down to the Deep Roads and kill Darkspawn until you eventually succumb to the Blight was kino
There is something uncanny about bg3, can't put my finger on it but I just didn't feel anything for the characters. BG3 packs the feels that other rpgs like DA have.
I played DA:O after finishing BG3 and it is surprising just how similar the games are.
Because they don't feel like characters in a fantasy settings, but rather a bunch of theater school larpers. Just look at Wyll b***hing about "da goberment propaganda is keeping us down frfr", like what the frick is he even talking about. Or Karlach with her "frick yeah, amazeballs, let's frick shit up" dialog.
Laezel is the only character doing something interesting with her setting.
I lived long enough for a Larian game to be talked about every hour on Ganker and for it to become the new contrarian obsession. What a time to be alive.
People say the deep roads is a slog but that dungeon where you get the ashes of andraste is 10x worse. I still hate the deep roads though and especially the dwafs. I hate dwafs so much it's unreal.
Way better characters, simple as that. I also find the story more compelling, theres like 2 or 3 hooks right from the start that just dont let go. BG3 in comparison feels like stumbling ass first into an adventure
DAO is probably one of the most overrated games in existence, on par with Mass Effect. These games are mediocre in all respects; however, people hold them in high regards thanks to both games coming out when there weren't many new and noteworthy RPGs. It's very likely that for some DAO and ME were their first introduction to the RPG genre.
But for me, it was such an awful experience playing both of them after other much better RPGs, such as KOTOR or Morrowind.
BG3 may be following a similar scenario, where a lot of people now enjoying it haven't played any RPGs before. It's also kind of shit in terms of its story, world, and setting in general. However, most of the flaws can be attributed to it being set in a pre-existing world with pre-existing rules. Gameplay-wise, it's leagues ahead of DAO and ME, even though its roleplaying system offers almost as little variety as these two Bioware's games.
>KOTOR better than DAO
Seriously?
Alistar is 10x times better than Carth
In fact, besides HK-47 KOTOR companions are mid
There are no moral dilemas in KOTOR, it's either the blatantly good choice and the blatantly bad choice
>be the chosen one's sidekick >cry like a baby the entire game while having no spine to do anything against the chosen one's orders >whine about some shit for a thousandth times rather than fricking off from the party >immediately disagree when in order to save the world you have to frick a hot witch
Better written my ass.
>such as KOTOR or Morrowind
The irony of accusing others of nostalgia goggles, while praising these mammoth turds.
Not accusing anyone of nostalgia goggles. I played all these games when they were relatively new. A year or two after their release.
>while having no spine to do anything against the chosen one's orders
KOTOR COMPANIONS LITERALLY DON'T LEAVE YOU until they die and you're not the chosen one in that game (not until much later anyways)
Whatever, just keep being a bitter butthole that older games are better than newer ones just because you played said games on release when yoy were young
How midwit can you get? KOTOR has arguably aged the worst out of Bioware games. If you know the twist, the plot isn't interesting, the characters are subpar in comparison. It doesn't measure up.
>"You have shown me that people are nice and the world is worth protecting but im still going to destory it and free the people I hate for absolutly no reason :^)"
Dread wolf has no fricking chance of being good.
BG3 had so stupid and nonsensical writing that it made me laugh aloud in disbelief plenty of times. You really have to be exceptionally stupid individual to like or approve BG3.
It's blasphemy to mention BG3 in the same context with DA:O.
>my opinion
>prove it to me, anon
crawl back
Tons of hilarious, ridiculous choices you could make in the game.
They didn't "do it", BG3 is a lot better.
It's not. It's okay but it got largely carried by the fact that everything else at the time was worse.
Nah.

Deep roads was kino. the real run killer for me was the fade, i had to turn off my brain and dissociate through that to ever complete it in all my runs.
Deep roads grind does make sense thematically, sure.
But do we really need a bandit corridor dungeon just before it as an apetizer?
>I think BG3 has some od the dumbest writing in gaming. Mostly in act III. It's a new level of stupid writing I was not ready for.
Starfield lost
I didn't play it.
But I assume, like all modern Todd games, it has a non-story.

hahahahahahahahahahaha
I would like to see someone argue that DA:O single player MMO combat is better than BG3.
This, DA:O has good writing and characters but you fight mostly trollocs... I mean hurlocks and genlocks for the entire game. The magic system is fun but besides that the lackluster encounter design wears you down fast.
>DA:O has good writing
lol
lmao
Yes I've played many CRPGs and I'd say Origins has pretty good writing. Your rebuttal?
I've read many books and I'd say Origins has pretty shit writing.
Any recommendations on a high fantasy setting better than DA:O?
Any D&D slop is better than DA:O.
Please, anon. When people say a video game has good writing they mean "good writing for a video game"

Honestly Dwarven Politics was pretty well written

What’s so bad about BG3 Act 3’s writing?
Hey, remember that dead historical character that added some flavour to the world?
WELL, CHECK THIS OUT! NOW HE'S A GAY SQUID THAT LIVES IN YOUR POCKET~!!!
ISN'T THAT AWESOME?!?!?!
That's your fault for doing the Black person's quest. Should have just refused to let the Black person join you like the rest of us did.
Nah.

Cherry on top:
Withers in post credits scene says - this whole illithid plot made no sense to begin with.
Hahahahaha...
Eh...
i thought the combat was the most interesting part of dragon age
i remember that even in normal it could be pretty difficult but maybe cuz i didnt have OP shit
>combat was the most interesting part of dragon age
lol
>i remember that even in normal it could be pretty difficult
If you're a brain damaged child maybe.
>Because BG3 has fun gameplay and amazing encounter design

Shill
DAO combat is amazing, BG3 combat is boring as frick
>neutered rtwp good
>tactical turn based combat bad
Build variety sucks in DAO. You can be

because it runs on my machine
do you contrarian homosexuals ever stop and think before you post the most moronic takes known to man
>MMO-tier gameplay
>better than bg3
Is bg3 really that bad?
I lived long enough for a Larian game to be talked about every hour on Ganker and for it to become the new contrarian obsession. What a time to be alive.
It did have better companions at least
lol
lmao even
no counterpoint to the truth, at least there's only one homosexual flirting with you and not every guy in the camp

moronic frog poster with absolutely braindead takes about shit no one cares about.

Alright now try writing that in English.
I don't see how any part of that post was esl, maybe you should read a couple books to understand the english language.
>so stupid and nonsensical writing

Black person you are functionally illiterate.
Shit graphics, shit gameplay, boring companions.
Hmm...yeah, it's not good except for the story.
Get your eyes fixed and stop drowning in nostalgia.
Shit opinions.

Never change.
