TBC would get hyped a lot but WoTLK just isn't for everyone, only hardcore fans of the Warcraft series. Compared to TBC in Wrath you've a much darker atmosphere, it can be very depressing and the icy environment everywhere gets boring pretty quickly.

lol dude what wrath is literally a childrens cartoon setting with lich king being btfo and saying i'll get you darn kids next time in every third questline and you have literal fart joke bosses in icecrown fricking citadel

Lol, WotLK was when they peaked in subscribers by a large amount. Though it could have been people like me that just wanted to see how WC3 ended.

        Anonymous

WoW gained 8 million active subscriptions in vanilla, 4 million active subscriptions in TBC, and not even one million active subscription in WotLK. WotLK was the first expansion where the population plateaued, and ended with roughly the same amount of active subscribers as it started with. It was when WoW started dying.

I got the physical box version on my bookshelf right by my side. Compared to Wrath it's a way warmer atmosphere, quite literally.
Nagrand was my favorite area but I liked the temple a lot, that region reminds me a lot of Wc3 with the infernals and all.

Still getting replies 3 hours later? then tell me what you like about Northrend. I can understand having interest in the lore, Arthas is the main character of TFT after all, it's very nostalgic and anyone who played Wc3 would want to play Wrath too definitely but for anyone else it's just a depressing cold area.

I don't hate it, don't get me wrong. I just feel that it's not the most rewarding experience ever. When I find myself in Dalaran is most of the time only for business, I don't feel the same attachment as I do for the Eastern Kingdom's areas for example. It's part of the game and the story is important so I don't refuse, I'm actually motivated to follow the story to see how it ends but that's all for me.

It's funny how people forget that wotlk subs peaked not with icc release, but with cata announcement
And actually held for a few months after cata release

      Anonymous

WOTLK 'peek' subs were only like 1% higher then when WOTLK started.

WOTLK is when the game flatlined, the last 1% was mostly because blizzard was doing a massive fricking ad campaign at the time, and lots of players who quit during TBC returned just for arthas.

WOTLK players are called wrathbabbies for a reason, thats when most of the veteran players quit and new players came in, the playerbase fell off in cata because unlike WOTLK, which was casual as frick, cataclysm wasn't produced by Rob Pardo or the original devs, but a bunch of turbo grognard autists who unlike the original team who stopped catering to hardcore world first raid homosexuals after naxx, would go back to catering to turbo autist raid gays in catataclym, fricking over the open world design in the process to streamline people to end game and fill raid slots to prevent guild death, instead of trying to address the issue that caused guild death in the first place, and that was massive burnout of the casual playerbase.

        Anonymous

        >WOTLK 'peek' subs were only like 1% higher then when WOTLK started.
        It was more than 10%
        >original team who stopped catering to hardcore world first raid homosexuals after naxx, would go back to catering to turbo autist raid gays in catataclym
Uldar hardmodes and icc h were literally insane gear farm because without gear you couldn't clear it no matter how good you were
The only time it was case are sunwell and vanilla naxx
But of course you just wanted to shitpost and praise "original" team who made garbage like wotlk

          Anonymous

More than 10% would mean WotLK ended with more than a million players than it started with. TBC was the only expansion where this was the case.

          Anonymous

Ulduar Hardmodes were a good thing, which makes senses since Ulduar was the last raid designed by the original dev team, and also the best raid in the entire game's 15 year history

But TOC/ICC's hardcore nonsense was guild killing, ICC wasn't even a good raid, but was somehow salvaged at the last moment by the original team coming back to fix Hozzikostas' frick up with TOC's design, despite the fact they kept the normal/heroic split, which shouldn't have existed in the first place.

literally every single guild on my server one shot everything in toc until anub25hc
and i was on a shitter rp-pve server

              Anonymous

              he is completely right though
anub hcs difficulty and the limited attempts killed motivation for all raiding guilds on my server back then including my own
you stay in the same fricking bland arena for two difficulties killing enlarged regular enemies and then you get to the same big bug you just killed in naxx and there is no actual mechanics besides running away from shit, tanking overtuned adds and a stupid enrage that is a pure gearcheck
TOC was the downfall and everyone not seeing this is contrarian or unironically literally low IQ
Ulduar was also the pinnacle of raid design in every aspect. I mean I spent months in there and there was always something new and interesting to attempt for us.TOC was basically just bashing your head against a wall from week 4 onwards.

            Another lie
            tbc didn't doubled vanilla hp
