back in my day? *crack* *siiiip* prey was about a native american and a monkey wrench
Unfathomably based.
It's fine, they don't deserve to know how good it is anyway.
>still the best immersive sim to ever release
homie please. Pretty much any of the original Looking Glass Studios games are superior to Prey.
It did some cool things and was amazing for its time (especially considering all the shit that came after it) but I don't think it's an overall better package. Controls are janky, it's got game breaking bugs, monsters are pretty samey and the encounter design is meh.
You can use the games' systems to break the designers intended path in far more ways than in Prey. Don't get me wrong, as far as the modern batch of AAA immersive sims go, Prey is easily the best of the bunch. But it doesn't quite reach the heights of the original Looking Glass games: Ultima Underworld, System Shock 1 or Thief 1 and 2. It's just shy of hitting those heights especially as far as 'immersive simulation' actually goes.
Prey sure as hell is superior to Thief 1
God no. Absolute pleb taste. Try playing Thief again and really frick around with the systems. There are some hilarious fricking things you can do in that game. For instance try leading a conga line of zombies up to Cragscleft prison and watch the hammerites and the zombies go to war with each other while you hide unnoticed in the shadows. That's just one example too, problem is that modern gamers don't have the fricking imagination and try to play it as a stealth game while save-scumming.
That happened to me the first time cuz I fricking sucked at first. You can imagine that's the point where I realized this was gonna be a magical game
prey has aspects to it like the delicious dishonored 1-esque movement and a soundtrack which really tickles my fancy that have led me to spending much more time with it than I have with thief 1, but I wouldn't say it's superior to it necessarily. I think thief is probably more impressive in the context of it being from 1998 than prey is in the context of being from 2017, if that makes sense. like, you can replicate situations similar to what you can do in prey (e.g. making enemies fight or the classic stacking of boxes etc) even though they're almost two decades apart from each other. thief's and by extension SS2's sound propagation is also way better. for what it's worth I consider prey one of my favourite games, which I can't say for thief, but it didn't push the envelope as much as the latter.
hoping weird west turns out to be great now that colantonio and co. don't have the AAA baggage weighing them down.
They really could have called it anything else.
I'm a millennial and I played it. I also exclusively frick people of your generation but live with my best friend because you're all cringe. Cope.
I bought it twice, don't blame me
50% great game close to masterpiece status
50% utter garbage fricking shit
the latter made me hate it entirely
i'm a zoomer and this game looks too generic to be interesting.
its good in alot of ways but falls short especially in the later half. Balance is way too easy also. I refuse to believe that there isn't something better.
The later half was designed to be intentionally frustrating. Alex is testing the Typhon Yu (You) on whether he will give up when things get difficult, similar to taking the escape pod.
>The later half was designed to be intentionally frustrating.
I loved Prey but I don't buy that tbh, the director's talked before in interviews about how the last third or so of the game was relatively rushed.
He said the ending was rushed and he regretted making the last third so annoying was a mistake, yes.
I don't agree that a video games needs to be 100% fun 100% of the time though, so it's okay.
Youre a nobody thank frick.
You're both nobodies, and I am too. But at least he isn't a coward scumrat like you.
it wasn't frustrating it was:
finally meeting the surviving humans and they have very little dialogue and you basically don't do anything with them
Game sets you up to go against humans, and you don't fight any human enemies
Nightmare doesn't scale with your powers so he's easily destroyed in the later parts of the game. You can also hide form him in a vent and he can't do anything
Ah, then yeah the first and third I agree could've been handled better.
🙂
Dark Messiah is Arkane's only good game.
Arx Fatalis is insanely good if you use Arx Libertatis, which fixes bugs, graphics/resolution and most importantly the spell casting.
Nope, I'd say Arx Fatalis is damn good too
Rest of their output is middling
Thinking of getting the digital deluxe version on PSN sale. Is it worth for $12? What am I in for?
>$12
dude buy the game
>what am i in for
whether its the greatest or not its still really good and most importantly, fun
I'd say it's not worth any money on PSN if you got a decent enough PC to run it.
It's a pretty good game but every character being a strong lesbian was annoying
you really should play ss2, prey is a fun game but simply inferior to ss2
That's a Hiroshima level cope.
Nobody bought it because it was marketed like shit and overall mediocre in the gameplay department. Name was irrelevant if nobody even knew what it fricking was.
I will never not be mad
> load times are 10 minutes on an SSD
hard pass
No they aren't
Well yeah, why the frick did they make an FPS with the same name as the FPS released in 2006 which also had a cancelled sequel that had gameplay footage released
Made people think this was a reboot of that franchise but it wasn't
this game literally bored me to death 8 hours in
frick you shill
What the frick is an immersive sim?
it's easier to just look it up on wikipedia than to ask people tbh. you know one when you play one.
>He posted it again
HELL YEAH I LOVE IMMERSIVE SIMS
> i am forgotten
>no multiplayer
>no dlc
>no customization options
lmao. into the trash it goes
>two guns
>like 4 abilities
>generic blob enemies
BuT tHe LeVeL dEsIgN bE bUsSiN!
I went back in the airlock and am getting spawncamped by big strong melee enemies. Am I to understand that every time I use the airlock and come back, increasingly strong enemies spawn throughout the map? Because that's how it seems.
