Most games have a weakness system of sorts. Still, old Megaten is pretty different from games after Nocturne and P3. Press-Turn and One More changed everything in the series.
3/Nocturne got an hd port recently. SJ is a cult classic, IV/IVA are pretty good and V is getting a deluxe edition with new content soon. You can start anywhere really.
Avoid Nocturne (has random encouters and when you die, it's heart breaking since u will start from the last save)
Play SMT V and move on. It's the best
All 80hrs+ RPGs have garbage pacing and fat
Literally every Cold Steel game, especially III/IV, Persona 5, Xenoblade 1, X, 2 and 3.
Most Snes/PS1/PS2 games are better.
I've dropped this boring piece of shit TWICE two thirds into the game. The plot is so shit, the characters are so unlikeable, their motivations are so childish and incongruent between what they say and what they do, the dungeons are still just bendy hallways with extra steps and every encounter is instantly wiped by the protagonist, and now social links are literally just "I have a problem" into "I solve it with my protagonist powers," removing agency and growth from the supporting cast.
I know, gotta cater to the lowest common denominator if you want to make a profit. God forbid we leave some room for artistry.
I imagine if the game stopped repeating every single piece of new information three times within an hour of you learning it, the target audience wouldn't retain that information at all.
Honestly, your passive reply got me unguarded. I'm legit curious which JRPG do you think as a good one. I swear I won't badmouth your opinion (can't say for the other anons).
I'm not really sure. Not thinking too hard about it, I like Resonance of Fate for the cast and soundtrack, but the gameplay is repetitive, the story is nonsense, and the visuals are hideous. I think FFX did the vanilla turn-based thing the best. Shadow Hearts has great atmosphere, but QTEs are a frick, especially as the core combat component.
My core contention with Persona is that it became a social sim first, after its reception with the release of 3. Everything else now feels secondary, to the point even the remake failed to nail the tone. If we're talking a cast-focused JRPG within the megaten franchise, DDS is easily my favourite in spite of various shortcomings.
I'd say it's a shame they never tackled another Raidou game, but I'm glad it ended when it did given Atlus as it is now.
the interest rate in japan just went up. at this point, this might be good or bad for japan. ifs its bad, japan is going to suffer and go bye bye.
also some devs already taking advantage over this. look at capcom.
>This game destroyed the JRPG genre, they can't make anything superior
It's not even better than wiinoblade 1
>moronic battle system
Nah. Persona 5 royal made the west discover jrpg.
I swear persona royal... it gets no better than this
Persona has been the same thing over and over again since the 2000s. Exploit enemy weakness and win. It's literally like weebier pokemon.

Still high school weebshit that only pathetic losers play for a dopamine rush.
Persona 5 Royal is a masterpiece jrpg
SMT V as well
I've only ever played the Persona games, but I'm wanting to try out SMT. got any suggestions or advice?

SMT 1, don't be a pussy.
Devil Survivor

Use buffs, moron.
Yep. Cyberpunk did the same thing to western rpgs. Completely obliterated the rest of the genre.
say sike rn

Troonsona 5 is shit

Thank god your shitty opinion doesn't matter at all.

Reminder that Final Troontasy lost
worse than 4 golden
If Persona 4 had the same amount of effort put into it as P5 then that would be the one to end all JRPGs
P5s characters and story are trash
P4 remake already leaked, dev time unknown as of now. just know it exists.
If true eveyone truely creatively bankrupt or desperately in need of money.
