Same. I could pop in vanilla MM any day and I'd still enjoy it from start to finish.

OoTgays hated him because he spoke the truth. OoT was fine...when it came out in 1998, but MM, WW, TP, hell even BotW and TotK have all since outclassed it. Its like going back to GTA III when you have VC, SA, IV, or these days V and Online if you have an itch for classic GTA shenanigans
>MM, WW, TP, hell even BotW and TotK have all since outclassed it.
In specific categories yes. In all categories at once, no. Not one of those games completely leapfrogs OOT in every way. >MM
Lacks the strong consistent main quest, dungeons aren't as good except Stone Tower >WW
Dungeons are much worse than OOT and MM, lategame is AIDS with the triforce quest being an especially boring slog on GameCube >TP
Item usage isn't as good or multifaceted, difficulty is even lower, the intro is a bit overlong >BOTW
The dungeons are a joke, the storyline already happened 100 years ago, the bosses are lame, the music is boring >TOTK
Dungeons are still a step down from OOT and TP and there are only four of them, music is still usually boring, game still uses the flashback system for story
The atmosphere in general is also a small step down after OOT and MM.
>dungeons aren't as good except Stone Tower
All of MM's dungeons except for maybe the first one absolutely trump OoT's dungeons in complexity. It's not even close. >Dungeons are much worse than OOT and MM
True, but no WW fan is playing WW for its dungeons. >Item usage isn't as good or multifaceted, difficulty is even lower, the intro is a bit overlong
Only point I'll agree with since TP is just an OoT copycat anyway. >The dungeons are a joke
Wrong, BotW's Divine Beasts are great and actually make use of the entire puzzle box in ways OoT's dungeons could only dream of. The only advantage OoT's dungeons have is that they're longer and bigger I guess. >Dungeons are still a step down from OOT and TP and there are only four of them
TotK's lead-ins could be considered a part of the dungeons and even if they're not, gameplay always takes precedence over how "long" dungeons should be just because some jaded nostalgiagays want to be arbitrary about their favorite Zeldas. >The atmosphere in general is also a small step down after OOT and MM.
That's incredibly subjective. MM is obviously oozing with atmosphere but there's nothing particularly stand-out about OoT's.

Still the greatest game of all time
Compare OoT's dungeons to TotK's. It's not just nostalgia, OoT is better. And I love Totk. Totk just takes more running distance to get somewhere but real content is missing in that game, it doesn't feel as satisfying to beat.
Dungeons don't matter, the things within the dungeons do which is puzzle solving and navigation which TotK utterly destroys OoT at.
Also OoT's overworld is one of the worst in the series, and would probably be THE worst if it wasn't for SS and the DS games.
>Dungeons don't matter
They're literally what makes Zelda games what they are. Without dungeons they're just a generic 3rd person hack and slash (and Zelda's combat was never good or challenging enough to make that satisfying).
>They're literally what makes Zelda games what they are.
No, what makes Zelda games what they are is the content within the dungeons, but that content doesn't need to be relegated to dungeons. Gameboy Zelda games practically make their entire overworld have the elements you'd find in a dungeon without actually *being* a dungeon (exploration, puzzle solving, etc.) and are better for it than OoT and its shit padding.
I dont think you can do most of the same shit you can do it TOTK in skyrim, tho obviously the converse is also true, and different strokes but i think most if not all of the shit you can do in both is worse in skyrim. i also just kinda hate skyrim tho
I mean, I'm just going to go around collecting things and hitting things with weapons. The melding things together mechanic doesn't interest me at all, it's juvenile and a cheap gimmick to keep your attention.

In every other medium the best ones are still great. Disney classics are still the best in the animation genre with good messages, classic literature is much better than modern literature. Yes it is, MJ is almost a "FOTM" in terms of human history, moron. Famous artists come and go; before MJ, you had Elvis, Beatles, rock bands, etc... Comparing a pop singer who was popular for a period with Jesus Christ, whom people consider as the literal meaning of life, is the biggest shit I've ever read
Also: >According to a PEW estimation in 2020, Christians made up to 2.6 billion of the worldwide population >Today, Islam is the second largest religious community and has about 1.8 billion followers
And mind you, this is not counting anyone who has ever heard of Christ, and not everyone who died over a 2,000 year period who was a Christian or heard about Christ
Also, why are you turning the whole discussion to MJ?
>who he was if you showed a picture of him
It's difficult to talk about this because there are various representations of Christ in different cultures. I also doubt that people would recognize who Michael Jackson was if shown a picture of him as a black person or as a child.
And how many people were born and died in Europe and the Middle East, and heard of Jesus during a period of ~2000 years before MJ appeared? How many of them in the NA and SA during ~500 years?

I have no nostalgia towards OoT or any other Zelda game and I played it through for the first time a few years back when I was 27. I instantly understood why the game is considered as the best of all time. The only downfall it has compared to games today are the clumsy movements, which I think might be better in the remastered version.
Not my favorite Zelda but objectively I understand its fame.
Not at all.
Do you want me to dig out my old gaming mags from 1998, singing 10/10 and 100/100 review scores in a choir?
Do you want to check out the Metacritic's #1 game of all time title?
Need me to pull out the top-100 games of all time listings from gaming press from the last 25 years?
LoZ:OoT was not only the series' triumphant upgrade from 2D to 3D, but also spawned two of its best games (OoT and MM), plus became the very blueprint of 3D action adventure games afterwards. It finally realized the Zelda franchise's hidden potential and elevated it to new heights.
>It finally realized the Zelda franchise's hidden potential and elevated it to new heights.
the same thing also happened with Metroid when Metroid Prime came out. 2D metroid can stay in the dumpster now.

It's an "adventure game!" >what's the difference? >you already said! Those games have tons of items and player-choice but we don't have the money for that!
I played these games on emulator because a contrarian I know irl kept pestering me to. Lol they're so shit compared to LttP, it's actually embarrassing
this is a brave but based take. i think all three of the gameboy and gameboy color zeldas easily clear ocarina though i prefer oracle of ages to links awakening, except that links awakening is more easily broken with glitches and in some ways this makes it more fun
The greatest game of all time is Doom and the best Zelda is Link's Awakening.
imagine saying this shit when all of these

1. neither of us said those games arent better than every zelda game, we said links awakening is better than ocarina
2. nobody has ever heard of those games. maybe theyre better, i have no idea, i will probably never play them. the screenshot you have there looks ugly as frick compared to lttp, the game you claim its cloning. links awakening and the oracle games are maybe the prettiest examples of the gameboy / gameboy color art style. just based on your screenshot, whatever game that is seems like a bad example of the 16 bit style. again i can't speak for the gameplay, maybe it rocks, but also again thats not relevant to anything either of us said
If you haven't heard of those games but you care about LTTP then you're just uneducated. Besides the japan only one all the others were well known Zelda competitors. And saying that game looks worse than LTTP is pure fanboyism. They look near identical in graphics, just not art style. Here is beyond Oasis which is a PSX game so it's a straight upgrade.
name one difference between Zelda and an ARPG besides a complete lack of basic features. Imagine trying to make up a genre just because you don't have the capabilities of making a simple industry standard RPG game. No really what is the difference besides what I've said?
Name one thing you can do in OOT that you can't do in a common open world RPG like Morrowind. It's the same fricking thing with 99% of the content missing.
>Name one thing you can do in OOT that you can't do in a common open world RPG like Morrowind

Mario is a 3d platformer. I would agree that OOT is a glorified platformer.
I've never played an ARPG where you get singular important equipment upgrades that were useful in exploring the overworld and opening up new dungeons, ect.
this used to be considered a primary/cardinal category of game genres and younger people have probably never experienced that. its use faded out in the mid 90s as game types became more varied and things generally began to either be called "action" or "RPG" if they didn't fit into another category.

MJ loves me this I know
For Neverland Ranch tells me so
Little ones to him belong
They are weak but the "tee hee" strong
see
>who he was if you showed a picture of him
It's difficult to talk about this because there are various representations of Christ in different cultures.
Michael was recognized over modern civilization and islam in 2010. Nice try though
>MJ is almost FOTM
>OOT is bad now
You are making outlandish claims with no evidence or documentation that can support. Give up now
Yes it is, MJ is almost a "FOTM" in terms of human history, moron. Famous artists come and go; before MJ, you had Elvis, Beatles, rock bands, etc... Comparing a pop singer who was popular for a period with Jesus Christ, whom people consider as the literal meaning of life, is the biggest shit I've ever read
Also:
>According to a PEW estimation in 2020, Christians made up to 2.6 billion of the worldwide population
>Today, Islam is the second largest religious community and has about 1.8 billion followers
And mind you, this is not counting anyone who has ever heard of Christ, and not everyone who died over a 2,000 year period who was a Christian or heard about Christ
Also, why are you turning the whole discussion to MJ?
I have no nostalgia towards OoT or any other Zelda game and I played it through for the first time a few years back when I was 27. I instantly understood why the game is considered as the best of all time. The only downfall it has compared to games today are the clumsy movements, which I think might be better in the remastered version.
Not my favorite Zelda but objectively I understand its fame.
wasnt the greatest game of all time when it came out
wasnt the greatest zelda game when it came out
It was, and still is, both.
t. 1980s' kid who's been alive through the series' entire run.
your dementia is causing you to forget that this isnt true grandpa
2D metroid can stay in the dumpster now.
>t. 1980s' kid who's been alive through the series' entire run.
Me too homosexual, you're not special. OoT isn't even the best in its own series.
Why is every game that copies Zelda 10x better than it? I know these are LTTP clones but still Zelda is horribly lacking compared to those who emulate it.
Alundra
Crusader of Centy
Soul Blazer/Illusion of Gaia
Beyond Oasis
Brave Prove (this ones rare Japan only that recently got fan translated, pictured)
whats the OoT knock off thats better than OoT?
Morrowind and every other 3d open world RPG in existence.
>Morrowind
???
>Zelda
>RPG
??????????????????????
>lets make a game thats a big open-world fantasy game where you fight an evil wizard but with only like 4 weapons and only 2 are useful
>but sir won't that look awful compared to all the massive open-world RPGs with countless items to find?
>that's the secret Gary, it's not an RPG! It's an "adventure game!"
>what's the difference?
>you already said! Those games have tons of items and player-choice but we don't have the money for that!
Twilight Princess
You have not played those games. Brave Prove in particular is ridiculously poorly designed.
I played these games on emulator because a contrarian I know irl kept pestering me to. Lol they're so shit compared to LttP, it's actually embarrassing
The greatest game of all time is Doom and the best Zelda is Link's Awakening.
this is a brave but based take. i think all three of the gameboy and gameboy color zeldas easily clear ocarina though i prefer oracle of ages to links awakening, except that links awakening is more easily broken with glitches and in some ways this makes it more fun
imagine saying this shit when all of these
exist
1. neither of us said those games arent better than every zelda game, we said links awakening is better than ocarina
2. nobody has ever heard of those games. maybe theyre better, i have no idea, i will probably never play them. the screenshot you have there looks ugly as frick compared to lttp, the game you claim its cloning. links awakening and the oracle games are maybe the prettiest examples of the gameboy / gameboy color art style. just based on your screenshot, whatever game that is seems like a bad example of the 16 bit style. again i can't speak for the gameplay, maybe it rocks, but also again thats not relevant to anything either of us said
If you haven't heard of those games but you care about LTTP then you're just uneducated. Besides the japan only one all the others were well known Zelda competitors. And saying that game looks worse than LTTP is pure fanboyism. They look near identical in graphics, just not art style. Here is beyond Oasis which is a PSX game so it's a straight upgrade.
this screenshot looks better and i can see the charm now, the other screenshot looks bad
>Doom
doom is overrated.
Quake 1 is one of the worst games ID Software has created.
based moron
hows it going Arin
the dungeons in this game all suck
going back and playing a lot of ARPGs I never knew about made me think a lot less of OOT.
Terranigma is better
>nigma
thanks Ganker
>ARPGs
Zelda is not an rpg stupid.
name one difference between Zelda and an ARPG besides a complete lack of basic features. Imagine trying to make up a genre just because you don't have the capabilities of making a simple industry standard RPG game. No really what is the difference besides what I've said?
>Imagine trying to make up a genre
it's an action adventure game stupid.
Name one thing you can do in OOT that you can't do in a common open world RPG like Morrowind. It's the same fricking thing with 99% of the content missing.
>Name one thing you can do in OOT that you can't do in a common open world RPG like Morrowind
okay i guess Mario Odyssey is an ARPG too. Fricking moron.
Mario is a 3d platformer. I would agree that OOT is a glorified platformer.
Terranligmaballs
N-NO THATS BREATH OF THE WILD! I MEAN ITS TEARS OF THE KINGDOM! THEYRE BOTH THE GREATEST GAME EVER!! ITS NOT OCARINA OF TIME ITS JUST NOT!!!!
I've never played an ARPG where you get singular important equipment upgrades that were useful in exploring the overworld and opening up new dungeons, ect.
Zelda is an Action-Adventure game
this used to be considered a primary/cardinal category of game genres and younger people have probably never experienced that. its use faded out in the mid 90s as game types became more varied and things generally began to either be called "action" or "RPG" if they didn't fit into another category.
Role playing game was used to refer to what you're describing as Adventure games often back then too.
sometimes but that wouldve been incorrect
phantasy star is unambiguously a role playing game
startropics is unambiguously an action-adventure game
actraiser is....???
sidescrolling platformer with city simulation elements
yeah so thats why action adventure stopped being used...it applies both really broadly and really narrowly depending on the person
Landstalker is an action adventure game. zeldas are
Metroid? I guess. etc
genres are just descriptors, apply as many as you want to describe it to someone.
It wasn't even the best game of all time at its release, OP
It literally was. Still is.
LA shitstomped it when it came out.
played OoT and MM the christmas mornings of the years they originally released
utterly magical/haunting
zelda lost its music and soul imo
it's not even the best Zelda.
Only if you have tendie brainrot.
Only if you're a boomer
>Still the greatest game of all time
what is every game ever?
Cope.
Why are you even bothering with a bot
At least one part of BOTW/TOTK sticks to the classic formula.
>dude if I button mash I can win
>"what do you mean you play to have fun?"
if you didn't do needless backflips and shit as a kid then you were autistic as frick and probably got bullied
Overrated as frick.
Was just playing the PC port. MM decompiled some time in 2024?
