NTA, but my worry of FOTM is if I stop playing for any variety of reason, and come back after like a month or two, I suddenly can't play the game because there's not that any people left or I'm stuck with people that don't speak a lick of English. I've already gotten burned by Dark Tide and Starship Trooper. Don't want to go for a third time. I'm open to being convinced otherwise.
People still play Starship Trooper though. It's nowhere near the launch numbers but it's still high enough that you can get into matches easily. Plus it's still an early access game so there's going to be spikes whenever there's a major update. Dark Tide is just going through the usual Fatshart incompetence cycle. The game is a shit show and it will continue to be a dead shitshow until Fatshart unfricks themselves and then they'll finally get their shit together at which point there'll be a massive spike in players.

Just had my first "real" experience with the game after 3 days of trying. Matchmaking finally decided to work so I got to play with 3 randoms. One guy was putting markers down and we were following him around the map doing objectives. 3 of us died at the extraction point with no more reinforcements and the last guy clutched it while bugs were still swarming around him. Pretty fun game when it works.
If you like punishingly difficult games it has 9 levels of difficulty and gets very very hard without a good team. I see myself playing for several months and coming back for major content updates.
