why would i pay for a GBA advance when i could get it and the games for free on my phone, besides, it's much easier to pull my phone in public when i'm stuck on a place with no internet.
>why would i pay for a GBA advance
What other reason do you have to withdraw some cash from the atm machine? You could get a nice portable rpg game to play during downtime
I did exactly that but got a white psp go instead. Way better design, great battery, usb charging and Bluetooth headphones/earbuds compatible.
Why tf would I pay the same price for a shittier GBA without all the other perks?
coming from someone who deals in a lot of old games, those handhelds are starting to break down across the board. it's rare that I get GBCs/GBAs of any kind that don't have at least 2 problems.
>No, they are dying because of their greed
This. All the independent shops are regional or bought by wannabe GameStop corpo types. Used to work for local shops and GameStop. It's all just greed.
Games in bricks and mortar stores are always gonna be more expensive
They have to pay wages and rent.
It doesn't make sense to buy there instead of ordering online
Talkong about used physical games ofc
Independent shops were nice. Corporate crap were not.
Independent shops died around 20 years ago. Some salesmen were really cool people who made you feel good and did the right thing by you. You'd never get that in "gamestop/electronics boutique", parasites there were basically an enemy and didn'r even see you as a person. Souless.
>Go to the store i've always bought my games from >full of funko pops, dnd and holographic pictures from normalgay shit like the witcher, cyberkek or skyrim
>Video game stores are no longer video game stores anymore. They’re merchandise stores that just happen to sell video games.
the best part is 90% of the "merchandise" is literally bootleg shit scooped off the first page of ebay search results.
>Go to the store i've always bought my games from >full of funko pops, dnd and holographic pictures from normalgay shit like the witcher, cyberkek or skyrim
>put up a gameboy found in some employee's closet for sale >set moronic price like 10x of what it actually costs >it's RETRO, goyim!
frick israelites, frick zoomers, frick nostalgiatards and most of all frick (You)
>go into local shop >ebay prices but i dont have the seller by the balls >bring in some games and ask what they would pay for each one >spends 20 minutes looking up each game on ebay >gives bulk price and refuses to break it down
This is something I witnessed a year or so ago >Be in local store chain that specialises in "retro" games >Gametraders >Dude comes in with a box of old Dreamcast consoles and games >Asks how much he would get for the box to the chinese owner >Chink thinks about it for a moment >$50AUD store credit for the box >I shake my head at the dude >He leaves
I wouldn't shop there if it wasn't for being the only store that does have some good stuff sometimes. I also once tried to sell a first gen Digimon that was unopened and unused there but the dude was going to give me like $30 for it and I was like lolnope.jpg and walked out.
What's the point of retro shops in the current day and age, apart from window shopping? Do people still bring games to sell here or do they just resell shit from ebay/craigslist/whatever local equivalent you have?
Is there anything better than sending a lowball offer for something on ebay and them accepting because the thing has been rotting in their house for a decade and they're tired of it?
>order online >game comes at my door/near my place's mall so I can pick up aftet a day's worth of waging >order on trusted electronics store >new vidya come out days earlier than intended release date, often times with unadvertised goodies and at a slight price cut >order to vidya store >tells you it'll arrive "before release", but "unexpected delays" make it arrive on release day, full price and all
Good.
I used to spend maybe $150 a month in local game stores, for me thats a shitload to spend on entertainment.
Now I spend about $20 average, because in a span of 4 years their prices went up by about 75%. Things that had been $10 for 5 years are now $30...Im talking ps4 xbone not real retro stuff just appreciating. I am not paying $30 for a used copy of basic skyrim anytime after 2012 dude.
Working at a retro game store isn't the worst job I had, but it was pretty crap.
I wasn't expecting to be handling sealed copies of Ocarina of Time, but I didn't think I'd be drowned in SingStar microphones, Assassin Creed collectors edition statues, Wii Fit boards, Guitar Hero controllers with no dongles, filthy Wii Sport controller accessories, and an endless supply of original Xbox DVD remotes.
We did get interesting things in occasionally, only for them to be bought by the undiagnosed and underdiagnosed mentals that would come in with their parent/carer every day.

Their problem is that they are charging too little.

I could play it on my phone. RPGs are even better to emulate because you don't need precise controls.
I did exactly that but got a white psp go instead. Way better design, great battery, usb charging and Bluetooth headphones/earbuds compatible.

playing on a phone is so fricking uncomfortable and touch screen SUCKS
Because the game boy advance "advance" is better than your phone and has actual physical buttons.
>120 erics
No, they are dying because of their greed
I can get slightly worn GBA on local EBay for 30 bucks and get a new case for 6 more

Lmao, I used to buy used PSPs for 20 bucks or less, I can emulate GBA with those
okay hear me out:
jews
Good thing I can just buy from people.
>Video game stores are no longer video game stores anymore. They’re merchandise stores that just happen to sell video games.
Good. Pokémon cards are more fun than video games anyway.

The fact of the matter is they have to do this to survive and its what a majority of people want or they wouldn't do it
I don't speak frog
the only good thing about resale shops is that you can haggle them down if you buy a bundle of stuff.
>resale shops
Is the term 'pawn shop' racist or something?
Yes. Educate yourself, chud.

my local went out of business thanks to ebay markup.
we never did get a copy of majoras mask. (60 bucks minimum, memory expansion not included)

Hate'm. I've seeded public no intro videogame torrents for years purely out of spite.

More than I paid for one new in 2001.

Why would I pay 120 euros for a GBA with no light when I have a hacked New 3DS XL that can natively run any GBA game I want?

I can buy a whole box of eclaires for like 17 dollars what the frick is that ripoff?
