Yes I know I'll be told SJ and If... don't have a desert but they are the rare occasion where it wasn't necessary. V suffers from the fact that the few devs that worked on Nocturne remember everything that game tried to achieve and failed and sadly every one of those things most players are tired of seeing, like the desert. They wanted the game to be open world and the world map to be what you mostly explored along with seeing demons running around. Obviously the PS2 couldn't handle that. SMTV is a game that should have come out after III like on PS3.

Having played both, I agree. The big problem with three is that it's honestly way too fricking long. I put 80 hours into it, and still had about 20 to go before I got bored and played something else. I honestly liked SMTV. It's basically the pokemon game I always wanted as a kid, but not lame to play as an adult.

Hard disagree. Nocturne is able to show without telling much better than V. The cast of Nocturne probably have half the lines of the cast of V yet I can tell you so much more about Nocturne’s cast than V’s. Not stating exactly what happens in the endings also makes them more interesting, ESPECIALLY when one ending in V explicitly states you are happy with the choice you made while the others don’t.

Nocturne's characters are walking ideologies or more specifically views about what's "wrong" with modern society. From the very start they act this way. People act like it's a slow build up but it really isn't. The second time you see Chiaki she already thinks might makes right, Isamu is already acting like he's forgotten by everyone even though you did come to save him, and Hikawa and self explanatory.
