In this particular instance, the ones fighting aren't in a relationship, but Alexandra wants Pearl out of the picture because she's leading the one they both like down a path which will lead to her ruin.
It's actually a really good comparison in a relationship between different types of love, as Alexandra does love Florina, but it's more of a selfish love, where Pearl and Florina are ironically doing what they don't want because of their duty and respect for one another.
Florina doesn't want to let Pearl down, so she does what she must for her people, and Pearl doesn't want to disgrace Florina, so she keeps protecting her as her charge, knowing that it will lead to her death. Florina's death isn't something any 3 of them want, but two of them are gungho on seeing honor met before their own wishes.
It's a shame that they won't do the Dragon arc or the Faerie arc in anime format. Seeing Irwin and Daena's drama unfold in animation would be pretty cool.
So the TL;DR is that Alex turns Pearl into a cuckquean after mortally wounding her, then kills Pearl's new boyfriend and feeds his soul to Alex's boss in front of all 4 of them.

As someone who has shitty teeth from not taking care of them and drug use, I think i'd rather just pop in fake teeth like a old person than get this procedure down, like I just imagine this becoming painful out of nowhere or at least causing enough anxiety to where you imagine it, like a tiny crack in your skull that slowly keeps getting bigger and causing throbbing headaches of your entire skull

I don't know if you've just heard horror stories from the 70s but you can't feel anything when you get a root canal. I had 2 in my molars, and neither of them were a big deal. I had an infection and the pain relief was immediate and made it well worth it.
